Fantastic property and GREAT location!!!

Review Submitted: January 23, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
We can't recommend this house enough. We had such a lovely time. The location is stellar. Christina and Fredrik made us feel incredibly welcome and had even provided us with wine for the evening we arrived and breakfast for the morning after. We were pretty much directly on the beach. The cute town is minutes away on foot. This was one of the greatest holidays we can remember. Don't think, just book!
Owner's Response: We are very happy that our guests all seem to enjoy the house as much as we do. Welcome back soon!

Overall a good choice

ANW UK
Review Submitted: July 2, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Property was a good standard, near beach, restaurants etc. and child friendly enough for us. Kitchen was well-equipped, showers good, TV, washing machine, dishwasher etc. all worked. It was also very clean. The welcome package was lovely - water, milk, fruit, bread, cheese etc. and a couple of very drinkable bottles of wine! Having the communal pool to use was great and the staff at the bar there were brilliant - so friendly. We loved the views from the balcony and really got to like Ferragudo as a place.

One downside was the stairs to the entrance of the property and the steepness of hills into town, beach etc. - this was only an issue for us because we have a baby, toddler, double buggy etc. If our children had been slightly older we wouldn't have minded at all.

We had an issue when we arrived in that the travel cot and highchair we'd agreed weren't there - however as soon as I called Fredrik, they were with us approx. an hour later. If you've got small children, you would need to think about bed solutions as both rooms have high double beds and hard floors. We were lucky as we had brought a travel cot for our baby, and our toddler was able to be persuaded into the travel cot supplied by Fredrik. If he had been a few months older, we would have needed a ReadyBed or similar.

The only real negative we had was power issues towards the end of our first week - Fredrik was great when this first happened and even brought us a bbq and some food and reimbursed us for part of a day for our inconvenience. However, we determined that it was the aircon triggering the powercuts and he asked us not to use the aircon any more - to be fair there wasn't much choice here because whenever you switched it on, all the power in the villa went off and had to be restarted at the switch box. Fredrik said he would get someone to look at it but that was last we heard. This was fine across the middle of the stay but the last 3 days were uncomfortable and difficult with the children as it got hot - 30+ - we think more compensation should have been offered for this given that air con was part of the package we bought into when renting the house. If you're staying here over the summer, check that it's been fixed if it's a feature you need / want.

Despite that however, if asked whether I would stay here again and if I would recommend it to friends then the answer to both questions would be yes. The accommodation standard and location would win every time for us.
Owner's Response: I am happy you had an overall good time and I am of course really sad that you you had any negatives at all. As you told me, it is hard, if not impossible to get any "handyman" or technician to arrive on short notice, and this time was no exception. We have now replaced the complete air-conditioning system and upgraded it - some say they have seen penguins under the dining table ;) Please let me know if you plan on returning and I will make sure you get a good deal. Sorry for your discomfort.

April 2009 visit

Great location - 5 minute walk to beach and village centre. Very clean, well equiped and well furnished. Impressed by owners thoughtfulness in leaving us some food and wine to tide us over on arrival until we managed to get to the shops. Communal pool opening times 10 - 5pm. Small charcoal BBQ was provided, however you need to buy own coal & lighters. Fantastic seafood restaurant called Sueste, you must visit. Great beach bar Kalu.

Great place!

Review Submitted: April 21, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The house is perfect to spend some days in the lovely village of Ferragudo (a really awesome place).
Two floors with all kind of details, comforts and a great terrace/porch (private) to enjoy with your friends or family. Fredik is very kind and provided us with wine a fruits for our arrival.
If you like the white sand beaches and the beautiful villages, don't hesitate to book this property.
We have been in Algarve four times and this is the best stay there. We will come back for sure. Thank you Fredik and best regards from Marbella.

Relaxing holiday ...

Smiler62 West Midlands, UK
Review Submitted: August 22, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
I concur wholeheartedly with the positive reviews, fantastic location, superb house - clean, well maintained, all mod cons - very comfortable, the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. We loved being able to sit on the balcony and watch the water activity. The heated pool was great.

Quiet location, but close enough to all that is required for a relaxing holiday.

Our only problem in June was the weather - it was TOO hot! But then the Algarve was experiencing a freak heatwave at the time!

Used the water-taxi facility a couple of times to see Praia Da Roche and Portimao. The ladies in the reception area were very helpful in aiding our booking of the taxi's.

The airport taxi transfer company that Fredrik recommended was also very good.

I would have liked to see more information relating to 'emergencies' local doctor, dentist, that sort of thing in a welcome book in the house together with up to date leaflets of 'What's On' in the area - this was available but only during reception opening hours.

I would certainly recommend this property to friends and family and hope to return in the future.
Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind review, we are very happy you enjoyed your stay. Naturally we will revise the information both regarding emergency numbers and up to date activities. We hope you will come and visit again! Again, thanks for staying with us!

Wonderful townhouse in Ferragudo

jmadrid Madrid, Soain
Review Submitted: August 5, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
See weesurfer review, I fully suscribe it, except that the kitchen is well equiped now and the TV signal quality is awful (but who cares, anyway). The owners are very kind and helpful, don't hesitate to check anything with them. .
Ferragudo is still a village, not a suffocating tourist center, meaning that it's peaceful and you don´t have tons of pubs or discos, if you are in the need, just cross the river to Portimao.
Owner's Response: We are lucky to have fantastic guests. I wish I had known about the TV-reception when Javier and his family stayed at the house and I would have fixed it immediately. I will have it looked over right away. Thanks for staying with us. We really hope you enjoyed yourselves!
Sincerely, Christina and family

Unspoilt algarve village townhouse

weesurfer Northern Ireland
Review Submitted: June 10, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We loved this townhouse. It was spacious, bright and welcoming and obviously well looked after. It is really well laid out with three different outside spaces which catch the sun at different times of the day. The complex is beautifully maintained and best of all, really peaceful! As it is privately owned there is no maid service, but there is a washing machine for cleaning towels etc.One tiny niggle was that the kitchen could have been a little better equipped with cooking utensils, but thats the only negative. The village is about a ten minute walk away through really pretty whitewashed cobbled streets, and has a handful of small restaurants and bars, pretty quiet in general so not the place for a rowdy holiday but perfect for a peaceful getaway. O Barril restaurant has really reasonably priced portuguese food, the pizzeria is good with lovely staff, the two fish places on the port can be pricey, and it seems in one of these ,O Soueste, unless you are a celebrity or footballer you get ignored! A car is by no means essential but gives you a lot more options for shopping and eating out. I would definitely recommend this property and location to anyone looking for a quiet break in an unspoilt location, or perhaps a base for a golfing holiday. It is also within an hour of fantastic surfing beaches in the beautiful western Algarve.
Owner's Response: I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for your very kind words and very welcome back. (We'll go through and add cooking utensils this week :)

Erholsamer Familienurlaub

chalphda Paderborn, Deutschland
Review Submitted: May 6, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
