What a stunning place, we loved it here and couldnt have asked for more. The house was very well kept, clean and tidy to the highest standered. The views from all bedrooms were amazing, Our daughter Jordan whos 11 loved the pool even in February, she also loved the top bedroom with her own bathroom. We would totally love to go again for the peace and quiet which we had. Thanks to you again for letting us stay in your lovely home. Ian, Diane and Jordan
Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay. There is still plenty to do outside the main season. Many guests have commented on the views and I am glad that everyone enjoys the property as much as I do.

Late Summer Sun

We enjoyed a great holiday at this house. It's clean light and airy as described and having three bathrooms smoothed the getting ready to go out process. (The jet bath made for a nice treat after a strenuous bike ride or knock about at tennis). This was our first visit to Portugal so we were a little concerned about the lack of air-con. (a must in parts of Spain/Italy etc.) However, the layout of the house maximises the benefits of the sun on the front while allowing it to be cool inside at night. We really slept well here.

It's an ideal place to stay if you want to enjoy the beautiful Atlantic coast beaches; there are many good choices within about 15 kms north or south of the house, favourites of the surfing fraternity. We were really impressed with Lisbon (get a good guidebook to maximise your visit) while historical places like Obidos, Sintra and Mafra are all within an hours drive. Pools and tennis court are well maintained.

You need a car here and keep it to a Golf/ Focus size or smaller as the underground car park does require your manouvering skills to be up to scratch. It may have just been the time of year that we visited but we needed some effective insect repellant devices night at so buying a plug in at the local supermarket for each bedroom is ideal. There's no need to worry about getting in supplies here as ther is a good choice of supermarkets within about 5 kms and they seem to be open up to 8 pm even on a sunday.

Finally, Rute, the local agent is only a phone call away and most helpful, so go relax and have fun!
Owner's Response: Many thanks for your kind words. We are glad you enjoyed the house. In addtion to the supermarkets there are also local markets in Lourinha throughout the week. A must is the seafood, a whole seabass for less than the cost of it in a fishmongers home here. Good restaurants in Peniche, Louirnha and Baleal.

We loved it here!

Fabulous house - very spacious, stylish and comfortable. Had everything we needed. The complex is very well cared for and the pool is great.

The garage is a bit of a tight squeeze but there is outside parking if you don't fancy risking the hire car!

We loved the beach and town at Peniche (great fresh fish restaurants) and also the small medieval town of Obidos. Lisbon and Sintra were within an hour and a half and made worthwhile day trips.

We had good correspondence from the owner and would definitely recommend.

Craking place to stay

Review Submitted: June 24, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
A lovely apartment.

Great facilities - spacious rooms and good kitchen with everything you would need - dishwasher, washing machine etc.

It's a bit of a shame that it's not walking distance to a beach, but it has got a good swimming pool.

The underground parking is not particularly suitable for any vehicle larger than a small fiesta, punto, corsa etc. I would imagine it would be pretty hectic under there when it is busy.

We were a group of six who stayed in early/mid June and there were only another four apartments that were occupied. A lot of the time we had the pool and gardens to ourselves. There wasn't a BBQ, but we bought one in the local supermarket and have left it in the garage for future visitors.

Technically, the apartment does sleep six people, but we were a group of three couples and the top floor room only had a single bed and a half size sofa bed. Normally we'd just push them together, but they were at different heights - we ended up sleeping on a loose arrangement of mattresses on the floor.

We were a mix of surfers and non-surfers (surfers and their non-surfing wives). We mainly surfed Supertubes near Peniche and the left at Consolocao. We did surf Areia Branca, but the winds were always quite strong and from the North - even at dawn.

I would recommend this apartment to my friends and family. If anyone was to come here I would say to visit Obidos and Ericeira - both lovely little towns with cobbled streets and nice cafes to people watch.

Nice and easy rental - no hassles from the owner and the local representative had good english.

Thanks for letting us stay at your apartment.
Owner's Response: You can actually walk to the beach. There is a path to the side of the tennis courts and also a lane behind the house which leads to the beach - a choice of two! I agree with the beds on the top floor and we are changing these this year with the introduction of a further bed. The car parking is good, very tight to stop those wanting to speed and there is a garage for everyone to use. I have been to the house with an estate car which does fit. There is also parking to the lefthand side of the access drive upin entry int the gates for those with people carriers.

Definitley visit Obidos, lovely town. Dont forget the surfing competition at Supetubos this October.

The house was well maintained, clean and had everything that you needed. The house is also child friendly, the children enjoyed the use of the pool and tennis court. The local beaches are fantastic and the windsurfing amazing.

It was like home from home, really relaxing and quiet.

I think that I would have preferred to arrive in daylight for our first visit, but we didnt and found the property without too much trouble.

I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a relaxing break. Fantastic. Hope to visit again soon.

A comfortable place to stay

A clean and comfortable new house with a clean shared pool. Some very intriguing places to explore in the surrounding district - eg Obidos, Caldas de Reina etc

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay here. The house had everything we needed and is comfortable. The house is modern but the immediate surroundings are still quite contrastingly rural - with pumpkin fields etc. You can drive to pretty local towns, like Lourinha and Peniche to try out local food and get your shopping.

I thought that the house might get too hot but the sea breeze seemed to control it fine. If you're a surfer, the nearest beaches will be of interest: the Atlantic breakers are a sight. I would definitely go back again: and I would try the surfing when the kids are older.

A fine holiday spot - if you don't mind some navigating/ driving!
Owner's Response: Definitley try the local markets. There ia a lovely coastal walk from the local beach to the main beaches that you must try. Surfing is a must or simply sit at the beach cafes enjoying the sun. Atlantic breakers is a new one for me as well!

Great House with good facilities

We visited in late September /early October. The House was great and was exactly as described. Very modern with contemporary decor with all the mod cons you'd expect from a new house. You need a car as the location is quite remote so a fair way from nearest town but you gain by the wonderful views from the front and rear of the property and the sunsets were georgous. The pool isn't heated so was pretty cold when we visited but we still managed to swim twice a day, morning and evening. As we visited so late in the season the complex was pretty deserted so we had the pool to ourselves for the whole 10 days. We would recommend a small car as we hired an estate which we couldn't get into the narrow garage space under the house. However the fact you have an underground garage made us feel very secure and quite a novel way of entering the property. The owner was available by mobile phone in the UK to deal with any problems and the local rep accompanied us to the property on the day we arrived and showed us around the house etc. As we visited so late in the season many of the restaurants were closed, but we were mainly there for the surfing which was excellent. Baleal beach near Peniche is around 20 mins away and we spent most days there - they have restaurants & beach bars there plus they have toilets & showers and a lifegaud so excellent facilities to spend the day on the beach, they also have surf schools there if you want to try a new sport. I would recommend this holiday home to families looking for a quite & relaxing holiday but who would also like to get out and about exploring this region of Portugal. Obidos is a great place to go if you want to buy some presents. Its a walled town and is really pretty the drive there is quite scenic if you take the non-motorway route. The only things that we could have done with in the house itself were a microwave and some decent sun loungers as the only loungers available were broken. However these are trivial faults which did not detract from a great holiday.
Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay. This time of year is great for visiting the property as 9/10 you have the whole place to yourself! The pool is great for cooling down as any wind prevails to the rear as the property over looks the sea. This povides a protective area to sun bathe. Obidos is a fantastic town, lovely shops and a local market. Make sure you check out the market en-route! This year was out first year for renting and it has been really busy, and we were almost booked up by early May! We are sorting a microwave for the property now, although it has not been a general request. The sun loungers have also been replaced. We have also provided tennis rackets and balls at the house along with other games. Those who enjoy sea food there are some fantastic local fish restaurants in Peniche and also in Lourinha.

We stayed at theJames' property for a week and had a fantastic time! On arrival to the house we were disappointed that our home in the UK wasn’t half as spectacular as this one. The home was clean, tidy and functional. The sky TV kept the little one quite when we were out drinking in the garden. The complex is very family orientated and has something for everyone, amazing views, beautiful pool, safe children’s pool, a massive sunbathing area, tennis courts and great walks. The building itself was also very secure with electric gates and undercroft parking with separate garages – this made shopping really easy.

The surrounding area was as stunning as the home itself, set on the west coast it had great surf and respective clean beaches. Around the coves were many cool bars and restaurants that were very reasonably priced. We visited a number of local markets that sold fresh fruit n veg, fish and baked goods and the locals made us feel most welcome.

All in all we had the most relaxing holiday in an environment that was enjoyable on so many levels. Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: I am glad the Sky TV worked - our thoughts exactly! Make sure you visit Baleal - some very nice cafes!
