Villa Piedra - rural gem

Richard and Glynis Staffordshire
Review Submitted: April 28, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We stayed at the villa in March 2009 and found that all the other reviews were true to their word. The villa has everything you could possibly need and was very clean and comfortable. The location is very quiet, rural and relaxing, but only 15 minutes away from a main shopping area and good beaches. There are good eating places in the village and the local manager was very helpful and was easily approachable should she be required - not that we had any problems. We were slightly hesitant, as we had always used villa companies before and never booked a villa direct with the owners, but we found the web site easy to use. The owners were very quick to reply and were very helpful if we had any queries. This villa was absolutely perfect in every way and we could reccomend it to anyone who would like a 'get away from it all' holiday. Our compliments to the owners. Richard and Glynis

FANTASTIC!!!

Review Submitted: October 4, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Believe it or not the photos do not do justice. The most well equipped villa we have ever stayed in with everything you could ever possibly need and then some. So comfortable and homey, it was a pleasure to come home after a day out, have a barbie and look out over the mountains, then relax in front of the tele, which has plenty of channels with English movies etc.
Located in the quaint village of Triquivijate (or Tricky for those of us who can't pronounce it), we can recommend a great local bar/cafe, La Cruzada, for great cheap eats and beer. Antigua is about 10min drive away with a great local supermarket for supplies. Only 15mins from the airport or Caleta de Fuste, the closest 'tourist' area, with it's beaches, great restaurants, especially Fado Rock, and Atlantico shopping centre complete with EuroSpa.
A car is a must not only for the location of the villa but to explore the amazing island further especially the beaches, our favourites being Correlejo and El Cotillo in the north and Costa Calma and Morro Jable in the south. There is a great street market at different locaitons around the island nearly every day, which is worth a look whilst always knowing you can soon return to the seclusion and tranquility of Villa Piedra.
We were lucky enough to actually meet Paul, the owner, who was very welcoming and helpful and even took the time to call us from UK later in the week when we had some difficulty with the internet.
We loved the whole experience and not only would highly recommend the villa to anyone contemplating a trip to Fuerteventura, we also hope to return ourselves in the not so distant future.
Thanks, Paul, we had a blast!

A holiday to remember

Two adults, four teens and two children!! You'd be forgiven for thinking that it would have been a squeeze (as well as completely insane), but no!! This spacious, classy, clean, extremely well equipped and well maintained villa easily accommodated our rather large family.
We stayed for a very comfortable two weeks. We hired two cars which was great for exploring the beautiful and unique island. The teens found the taxi services excellent and very friendly when enjoying nights out partying. For the younger children (when they eventually got out of the pool) the owner has provided free view TV, the biggest connect four i have ever seen! and a selection of games, toys and books. Again for the teens and adults the internet access was a big bonus. The upper balcony, attached to the master bedroom was a handy escape, great for a spot of sunbathing and sight seeing.
What more can i say!! I will definitely be recommending this excellent (and i must say extremely good value for money) villa to all my friends and am in the process of booking for next year.

Best Holiday Yet!

Review Submitted: August 1, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
Just about to leave for another fortnight at this luxury villa, having already spent 10 days there last year! Fabulously spacious villa, very clean & comfortable and really everything you need is there. Great swimming pool and things to entertain the children. The location is in a rural village, very peaceful and not overlooked with great views. A car is essential, but you can access a few local restaurants and small shop in the village. Our 2nd trip imminent - hope there will be more.
Well done to the owner - its fab!
Thank you again, Mas & Grant & boys

Relaxation

Review Submitted: July 12, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We returned from the Villa last night (unfortunately) weather on leaving 33 degrees on landing at Bristol 16 degrees. The Villa was lovely everything a family would require and more, every kitchen utensil needed. It is in a very quiet area on the edge of the village, which is lovely but a car is recomended. The pool is great especially with two 10 year olds and very hot days, it was a good size, surrounded by a nice Canarian garden. The furnishings are very comfortable and kept to a high standard by the local managers Helen & Peter who we must thank for their help during the week. Waking up looking at the mountains watching the sun come up was stunning along with coffee on the roof terrace and breakfast on one of the Patio's.
One thing I would say is aircon would be nice instead of the fans but expensive I would imagine. The locals were very friendly and the small supermarket stocked essentials, I drove the the 4kms to Antigua daily to get bread at the bakers/cafe in front of you at the T junction well recommended.
I would recommend this Villa to all who want peace and quiet ( apart from the barking dog from behind) in a lovely Villa. Maybe a few more English speaking channels on the Tv would be nice and a full length mirror in one of the rooms would be good. We are deffinately going to look at booking for next year.
Regards Jan, Karen, Abi and Emily
Owner's Response: The villa is equipped with a fan in every room which keeps a gentle breeze flowing throughout when neccessary, this aids with the rental costs as air con is expensive to run. There are half a dozen English speaking tv channels including sky news, along side a wide choice of videos & dvds in English, this is another way of keeping rental costs to a minimum, whilst providing extra choices.
There are mirrors provided in each bathroom and the hall, however i will look into purchasing a full length mirror for the future.

This was a very clean and comfortable villa, very well-equipped, spacious, and with a lovely pool. All facilities are to a high standard, everything you could need. The views are great and there are plenty of nice spots to sit out in. Local cats and kittens very entertaining! Caleta de Fuste and the airport are only around 15 mins drive, and you can reach anywhere on the island quite comfortably. The landscape around the island is fascinating so worth hiring a car and driving around if it is your first visit. A real no-hassle holiday with friendly service. It is in a residential area so there are other houses and people around but you aren't overlooked and there is minimal noise. Definitely looking to rebook.

We stayed at the villa from 22/4/09 - 29/4/09 myself, husband and two teenage children ( 19 & 16 ) first off the directions were great, found the villa with no problems(15 min from the airport),called helen when we got to the villa and she was there in minutes to make sure we were settled and let us know that there was a welcome pack ( water /tea /coffee / beer /wine /orange juice /milk /bread / butter and jam ) very nice. Helen gave us some local directions which was helpful. All of the towels, bedding and soft furnishings are very clean and of a high standard ,everything you need is there from the beach towels to shot glasses. The villa is well presented and well laid out and all of the furniture is of good quality. The internet access was great for us to keep in contact with work and keep my son happy. Moving on to the outside WOW what a lovely spacious outside area there is and a great sized pool, the pool cover was a great help to keep the water very warm. The villa is in a beautifull spanish village which is extremely peacefull ,quiet and restfull, so if your looking for pubs, clubs, karaoke bars and restaurant after resturant then this is not for you,(they are only 15 mins away at calletta) but what you will get is a restfull relaxing holiday. I would recommend a car (15 min to calletta) for any shopping and the beach at calletta is nice.We took a stroll around the village, there are a couple of small pubs and a restauraunt , the village shop has very good prices, So overall we had a good time. Happy memories made around the pool with teenagers who wouldn't normally have a laugh with mum and dad if you were at a hotel.

Fabulous

This was the perfect place for my family & myself.
The villa itself is a good size for my family of 6 (and kept very clean), it was equiped with everything you may need, from all the usual kitchen equipment & utensils, to a good quality hairdryer in the bedroom, internet (which is a bonus at no extra cost) in the lounge, large tv with English telly & a good selection of dvds, not to mention a wide selection of books & games for adult & child alike they even have giant connect 4 for poolside gaming. There is also a floor standing fan in every room to keep you cool.
The pool is a good size & kept clean & well maintained much like the villa.
The villa is set on the edge of the village making it totally peaceful & quiet with no disturbances.
The mountains that surround the village are stunning, especially in the early morning sun & evening sunset when they appear to change an abundance of earthy colours.
A car is an absolute must if you wish to get out to see this amazing Island. With the villa situated in the middle of the Island it made it easy access to the north & south and it was only a short drive to the nearest holiday town of Caleta de Fusta and the Spar supermarket (13min), although the local shop has all the essentials you may need.
This is a place i will definately be returning to in the very near future

Off the beaten track!

Alison & Duwain Manchester

This villa is a hidden gem!
I would recommend this property to anyone who wants more than the usual package tourist experience of the Canaries.
It will not suit everyone but if you are looking to stay in the 'real' Fuerteventura where there is no commercialism, and you want a luxurious villa in peaceful surroundings with breath taking views then here it is!
The villa has been accurately described in every way. It has a fully functional family sized kitchen with every appliance included, a good sized living room with large TV LCD screen, DVD etc and the added bonus of a computer with broadband. There is a good selection of books for adults and children alike with games and videos. There is also a nice swimming pool in a typical Canarian garden and even beach towels are supplied which helps your baggage allowance. (You do feel like they have thought of everything.)
It is in an ideal location if you want to explore the island:
15 minutes drive to Caletta de Fuste, 25 minutes to Peurto Del Rossario for food shopping at Hyperdino and 40 minutes to Correlejo, so if you don't mind driving (which is a doddle, compared to the UK) you have an ideal base to tour the island.
The villa is well mantained and clean, and Helen the manager is a lovely, welcoming person.
We can recommend 'Fifth Avenue' restaurant in Corralejo. They have a excellent reputation and It is worth the drive, the evening meal was fantastic and If you fancy doing something totally out of the ordinary which is so much fun, then try the trike rides that run from Caletta de Fuste called ''Cool Runnings.''
We had a memorable holiday made possible by this 'hidden gem' of a villa and overall I would rate it 10/10.
From Alison and Duwain
