Lovely holiday at Villa Verde

This wasn't our first trip to Villa Verde and most definitely won't be our last. The location of the villa cannot be surpassed, certainly away from the madding hordes, enabling us to enjoy peace and tranquility at it's Portuguese best. The views from both the poolside and the rooftop terrace are truly beautiful. Over the years, the villa has been constantly updated and improved. This year we were particularly impressed by the new bathroom suite. The villa had everything we needed, the kitchen is well kitted out and we enjoyed cooking on the barbeque outside on the terrace. The grounds are well maintained with fig trees, olives and almonds. We really appreciated the work of Olga in making the villa so clean for our arrival and also the fact that Jenny was available to help and advise us if we needed her. The welcome pack was a lovely touch on arrival too.
Tavira is such a beautiful town with a wealth of culture. This year we particularly enjoyed the live music in the centre some evenings. Plenty of good restaurants to eat and riverside cafes to sit and watch the world go by.

We will definitely be going back again. An absolute gem of a place and well worth every euro.

Tranquility, seclusion and all home comforts

Review Submitted: June 27, 2009 Date of Stay:
Our second stay here. The villa 'works' for us (family with 13 and 11 yr old children) for a number of reasons. It is easy to get to from Faro and in a quiet part of the Algarve. Although it is close-by, the main motorway cannot be seen or heard. Tavira is an easy drive and whilst not over-commercial, it has a good range of restaurants and shops. The nearest village to the villa has a good restaurant and shops for essentials and is within walking range.
A big attraction of the villa for us was the pool which was in perfect condition and provided great entertainment throughout our stay. Since the children can both swim well, we didn't feel that they needed to be watched over and with no near neighbours, there wasn't a problem, either with making noise or with noise from others.
The property itself has all the home comforts you need with plenty of space in the kitchen and living areas, lots of utensils etc. and good dishwasher & washing machine. Also plenty of space in the fridge and freezer and a good BBQ. The villa has quite large grounds and with an elevated position, there are magnificant views from the terrace - over the swimming pool and down to the coast some miles away. There are plenty of outdoor sun loungers, chairs etc.

We found it easy to make the booking and to finalise arrival details. Emails were answered promptly and - on both times we have stayed here - the owners have been flexible with arrival and departure times, to fit in with our flights and this has been very helpful. Whilst the owner is based in the UK, there is a contact person who lives nearby who is there to meet and greet on arrival and to help with any problems.

We would recommend this villa to anyone looking for a quiet spot in a less-commercialised part of the Algarve.

A family getaway

Review Submitted: April 5, 2009 Date of Stay:
What a wonderful place to stay. It was our first trip abroad with our son, who was just under 2 at the time, and we wanted somewhere safe, convenient, relaxing, and with plenty of activities to do indoors and out. Faro Airport is only about 30mins by car away from the villa, and we found it very easy to hire a minibus at a car hire company located at the airport (there are many to choose from). Having never driven abroad before I was obviously a little concerned about driving, but the roads are good and the villa is pretty easy to locate. The villa comfortably sleeps 6 people. We had 5 adults and one child, and fitted in very nicely. Overall the facilities are great, with loads of space and a very large kitchen. There is a plentiful supply of information available, including books on the local area, maps, information about places to eat etc. Childrens equipment is also provided by the owner. The garden is well arranged, with a pool area, a sunny veranda just outside, and an outdoor BBQ. With Tavira very close by, and a great fishmarket, we made great use of the BBQ and often ate outdoors. The villa is set in the small village of San Estavao, which has some good facilities i.e. shop, cashpoint, and a small bar/restaurant. Tavira is a lovely fishing town, with great restaurants and some good shops. It's about 10 minutes drive from the villa, and is pretty straightforward to get too. For those wanting to travel further and explore more the villa is ideally placed, and next to one of the main connecting roads in the region. Overall, we had a lovely time and would strongly recommend Vila Verde to all. We'll be visiting again, without doubt.

Owner's Response: In the current financial climate, we believe it important to ensure that our guests receive value for their expenditure and leave with happy memories of their stay at Villa Verde; we also try to supply that little bit extra to ensure their comfort while staying at the villa.

Thank you Andrew for taking the time to write your review.

The wonderful Villa Verde!

Villa Verde is a truly beautiful villa in a perfect location. It is looked after so well by the team both in the UK and in Portugal with the cleaning and maintenance inside and out kept up marvellously. Set on a hillside looking down towards the sea in the distance it is the perfect place to relax and re-charge the batteries for 1-2 weeks. It's in a very peaceful location but just a short drive away you're in the centre of Tavira full of places to eat and drink. Most of the days were spent by the stunning pool or sat on the veranda. A short trip by boat from Tavira to Tavira Beach is also a must...A little gem discovered on the last trip!

I have been back to the villa 4 times now and every time I leave, I start counting down the weeks to when I'll be returning. It really is highly recommended for anyone looking for a holiday in a home from home. Thank you so much to the villa Verde team!

Wonderfull Villa

We have already stayed 3 times and will be here in summer again. This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the summer in Portugal. The villa was always clean. It was easy to find due to good directions provided ahead of the trip. The service of the owner regarding housekeeping, gardeners and on site manageres was well organized, effective and very friendly. The pool and the garden was always in a very good shape and the center of our activities. We would recommend the villa to families with kids and teenagers as well as couples or 2 couples.

A superb, clean, spacious and comfy villa. A total home from home. Everything you needed was provided. The views were outstanding and it was so peaceful. Nearby restaurants were very friendly and the food lovely. Eat, drink and relax what more could you want. Have already booked to go back in June.
