holiday in Estepona

Review Submitted: June 5, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
Everything about this apartment was excellent. It had recently undergone a high class refurbishment. It was like being in a 5 star hotel, with more space. The views from the apartment were magnificent. People watching from the balcony was an interesting way to pass the time. Nearby are several excellent restaurants and watering holes. For anyone wishing to venture further into the town there are more restaurants. The town is very Spanish and it is a superb place to sit and watch the world go by.It is possible to go on "outings" from Estepona which cater for the British tourist. Also good local bus services to neighbouring towns. A taxi from one end of town to the other is about 5 euros.
We found that dealing with the owner was a relaxed experience. We were able to negotiate arrival dates and times and were received in Estepona by a delightfully friendly lady who showed us around the apartment, prior to leaving us alone. She was, however, available by phone in the event of us needing her.
The best recommendation is, would we go again? Most certainly. Would we recommend it to family and friends? Very definitely. Best wishes. Pauline & John

Owner's Response: Our goal has been to make a home from home for our guests by providing a comfortable yet high quality finish to the apartment.

We have always said that Estepona is a wonderful place to chill out in the sun and people-watch and its lovely to hear that our guests feel the same way.

Estepona

It's always a risk booking anything over the internet but my husband and I were absolutely delighted with this property. The owner, Andy, was incredibly helpful before I booked and after booking sent lots of very useful information. We were delighted on arrival to find a very thoughtful welcome pack in the fridge.

The property was clean and just as described. It was very well equipped - in fact I can't think of anything we needed which wasn't there.

The property is very well situated and although we were only there for 6 days we managed visits to Ronda (an absolutely hair-raising drive as far as I was concerned!), Mijas, Marbella, Puerto Banus and Gibraltar. We walked several times into Estepona town along the promenade which was really pleasant.

Had some very nice meals while we were there - sadly some of the restaurants in the Marina were closed when we were there in October but can thoroughly recommend Le Petit Paris along the main road - you do need to book though as it's quite small and very popular.

We flew into Gibraltar and rented a car - only about a 40 minute drive to the property. I think you could manage without a car but I think it would be difficult to see quite as much as we did by public transport.

The weather was great while we were there and we had a really wonderful break. Would absolutely go back there.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the lovely comments. We have been letting holiday properties for many years and it is still great to hear that our guests have enjoyed their stay with us.

I agree about the trip to Ronda - it is only for the seasoned driver on Spanish roads.

Having just returned from Estepona, I would most certainly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for luxury, comfort and relaxation. Everything is to the highest standard and the warm welcome received on arrival certainly makes for an ideal beginning.
Having hired a car we visited Casares, Ronda, Gibraltar, Selwo, Laguna Village and Peurto Banus. The journey around the 'Rock' in Gibraltar was exciting with the twists and turns (make sure you hire a 'small' car to avoid the knocks and bumps!)
The views from the apartment are wonderful, especially the morning sunrise over the marina. We found the Sunday market had some good bargains and if you leave it until about 2.30, the stallholders and open to bartering.
We ate at Le Petit Paris which is a short stroll away. A fabulous meal and the special offer of the day was on 17.50 Euros which included a glass of wine too.
In the port we ate at Bistro La Casa. The mussels were particularly good and the hospitality was fabulous.
We visited the ice cream parlour for an Irish Coffee, which again was an excellent recommendation.
The beaches close the the apartment are very clean and an excellent base for a day in the sun. Although we visited at the end of October, the temperature rose to almost 30 degrees! For a totally indulgent day, hiring a sunbed at Bikini Beach is well worth it although a little expensive. Comfortable sunloungers and fabulous cocktails!

All in all I would highly recommend the apartment and for an away from it all holiday, Estepona is full of charm and fortunately NO karaoke bars! An excellent opportunity to soak up the sunshine, relax in luxury and sample the delights of an untouched part of the Costa Del Sol. We will certainly stay here again should we visit Estepona.
Thank you

Owner's Response: Thanks for the lovely comments and also the useful advice.

When going to Gibraltar we tend to park on the Spanish side (La Linea) and walk across the border as some of the roads are very narrow on the rock.

Its not surprising to hear about the great temperatures in October as the Sierrra Bermeja mountains really do protect Estepona from the more inclement weather. They also are a super place for a barbeque as the views can be superb from a little higher up.

We look forward to your next visit to Estepona.

We have had a wonderful vacation in Puerto Paraiso.
Everything was like Andy had promised. A very luxurious and clean apartment. A perfect combination of apartment, views and surroundings. This "home" we all recommend. We have enjoyed every day. To be repeated!

Amazing apartment

This was our third stay in this apartment within the last 18 months and yet again we have had a wonderful holiday.

As the apartment is furnished to a superb standard it has all you need for a comfortable 'home' from 'home' stay. When we arrived the apartment was again presented beautifully and the welcome pack is a nice touch, as you can have a first drink on the balcony to take in the views as soon as you arrive.

We spent hours watching the boats coming in and out of the Marina, people watching and generally taking in the views and atmosphere that Estepona has.

The bars around the port cater for none Spanish speakers, although as always, they prefer it if you try and speak a little Spanish also. The restaurants in the port are of a good standard although are slightly more expensive than the ones in the old town. Andy recommended eating in Plaza de las Flores, and I would definitely agree with the recommendation as the setting is lovely and the food was superb.

We took our children on a day trip to Selwo, which was a real treat and is easy to get to by bus. Gibraltar is also a good place to visit. We spent a lot of time on the nearby beaches which were clean and safe and kept the kids happy all day.

All in all a super apartment in a super location. We'll be back again next year.

Fantastic Holiday

The best thing we can say about this apartment is that we can't wait to visit again. It's even better than it looks on the website. The whole experience from start to finish was totally hassle free. Fantastic views, very spacious, perfect. Everything is on your doorstep including two excellent beeches. Andy was very helpful and answered any queries we had.
Estepona is a beautiful place to spend a holiday, typically Spanish and not too touristy. There are some lovely restaurants within walking distance and the fish dishes are excellent.
We spent two weeks there and didn't want to come home. Put simply, this was a fantastic holiday.

Owner's Response: Estepona is an ideal location for a family holiday and we have spent a lot of time and effort to ensure that the apartment does the location justice. Having guests return year after year is the highest praise and it is great to hear that our guests holidays have been enjoyable.

Puerto Paraiso Holiday

Patricia and Michael Leighton Buzzard
Review Submitted: August 2, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This was our second visit to Estepona this year, and each time we have stayed in this apartment in Puerto Paraiso, we were here for 3 months in the winter, [ weather was in the low 20's sunny and warm ] and we returned again in July,
The apartment is excellent, and is furnished to a very high standard, it is very well equiped, with everything we could have wished for to make our hoilday enjoyable.
The apartment was very clean, and well maintained, and the owner provided very good customer service.
There are lovely views from the open balcony which overlook the port and surrounding area, this is an ideal place to sit and relax and enjoy the sun.
We found the apartment very well situated and is within walking distance to all amenities, their are two supermarkets near by and I would recommend Supersol as the best value, their is also a Tourist Information Office opposite the apartment block which we found to be very helpful for local information.
We did not need to hire a car, as there is a good bus service, both localy and and for longer journeys i.e. Marbella, and Gibraltar.
We enjoyed the Sunday Market which is held in the Port, very cheap for leather wear, shoes, and handbags.
The cafe bars are really busy at this time and this makes for a really good atmosphere in the port.
The old town of Estepona is very Spanish and is a short pleasant walk along the Paseo Maritimo, you will find lots of shops and cafe bars in the town and is well worth the walk.
We would definitely recommend the apartment to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and stress free holiday, and we will be returning there ourselves in the near future.

After just returning from nine nights at this apartment I could not fault it in any way. Andy was extremely helpful and quick to replay to any queries we had and the apartment really was ideal. We had a fantastic time there and would have no hesitency to recommend this apartment to anyone else.

Puerto Paraiso Perfection

Review Submitted: November 29, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
Earlier in the year we stayed in one of Andy's other apartments (property number 66943) and rebooked for 2009 almost immediately upon our return.

After a miserable summer we then decided that some winter sun was called for but the other apartment was not available so we decided to stay in Puerto Paraiso and again we had a marvellous break.

Puerto Paraiso is in the centre of the Marina at Estepona and is in easy walking distance of the local shops and cafe bars.

The apartment is on the large side for a 1 bedroom apartment and is furnished extremely well. The balcony is large enough to lounge away hours in sun and taking in the views.

As the weather was not to great we decided to explore the local area a little and we can certainly recommend trips to Casares and Ronda.

Estepona Town is also worth having a walk around and it is easy to find a quiet little cafe bar in the many Plaza's, where you can sit in the sun under the orange and advocado trees whilst having a coffee (and brandy!).

We would certainly recommend this apartment to others looking for a break in the sun.

Puerto Paraiso Paradise!

Sylvia & Rod Oxted, Surrey
Review Submitted: July 8, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
We have been visiting Estepona for 20 plus years and although it has changed , it essentially, remains a 'Spanish' resort. Puerto Paraiso Apartments are ideally situated - close to the Port and all the excellent Bars and Restaurants. The town - old and new - is only a 15 minute walk away, with many more restaurants of all types of cuisine. This apartment has recently had a complete revamp and must be considered to be 'the best'. Attention to detail is the order of the day and everybody can rest assured of a great stay in 'our haven'.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Estepona has retained lots of traditional Spanish charm and this helps make it an attractive holiday destination for those wishing to spend some time in the sun whilst experiencing the relaxed Spanish way of life.

When renovating and refurnishing the apartment the challenge was to make it live up to the local area and the excellent position that Puerto Paraiso has overlooking the Marina. It is great to hear from our guests that they are pleased with the results!
