From Miami to Dundrum...a wonderful contrast

Review Submitted: June 28, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
coming from the hustle bustle of Miami, Dundrum was so relaxing, calm and serene. The views from this apartment are incredible and ever changing throughout the day and evening. Many hours were spent on the sofa watching the tides ebb and flow, birds hunting for fish and even a few sea lions. Upon opening the front door our words were "wow". The place is immaculate and feels like a Four Seasons hotel!
Every convenience is provided: excellent taste in furnishings, new baths and kitchen...we felt at home immediately. One of my favorite things was waking in the morning to the sun breaking thru sliding doors and huge windows of our bedroom and realizing the days adventure ahead. This area is rich with natural attractions...riding bikes on the beaches and trails, botanical gardens, exploring New Castle and small surrounding towns...we spent over 10 days and each one was unique and memorable. I highly recommend this property to all who seek to know the real Ireland.

There is excellent easy access to a range of high quality restaurants and veiw to die for. I will miss watching the seals playing in the sea from the bedroom window!

Luxury and child-friendly CAN be done!

When we decided to go away on holiday this year the two things on our wish list were a luxurious setting that we could relax and enjoy, and also a child-friendly environment for our 18 month old daughter, Phoebe. We didn't think that we'd be able to find a location that provided both, but Janet's apartment in Dundrum ticked both boxes in the most amazing way. The apartment itself was absolutely beautiful, filled with interesting art and finished with impecable style and taste. The views were stunning, and the location very handy to local beaches and great restaurants. But what impressed us possibly the most was the way in which Phoebe was catered for: a range of toys (including miniature rocking horse that she wanted to bring home!) and books kept her amused all week, she enjoyed seal-watching and her first beach experience, and she slept like a baby (haha) in the well proportioned travel cot . In short, for 2 first time parents bringing their child away for her first holiday, we couldn't have had a better experience! Thankyou Janet--we'll definately come back soon!

Peace and Tranquility

Beautiful apartment in perfect location. We travelled in just under an hour to the accommodation but felt we were much further from home. As advertised, the views were stunning, the village was peaceful and all we needed was on our doorstep - beautiful walks, places of interest, shopping, etc. We would, without hesitation, recommend this apartment to anyone - young or old and hope to return in the not too distant future

This is the only way to describe both the apartment and the location. The apartment was everything we could have hoped for, the views were to die for and the area had so much to offer. We especially enjoyed watching the wildlife and our (very) early morning walk was well worth getting up for when we encountered a family of Otters, who seemed as happy to see us as we were them! The local Restaurants were good, but a trip to Balloo House is well worth the journey. The Giants Causeway and Antrim Coast were spectacular, but if you only wanted to stay in the Dundrum area you could find more than enough to do. We had a wonderful week in this lovely part of Ireland, and will definately return for more.

just returned from a wonderful week in dundrum. The apartment was superb we couldnt have asked for more. The location is brilliant to wake up to such lovely views was wonderful and the town itself was lovely with two really great restaurants the mourne seafood bar and the bucks head. Newcastle was only three miles away with amusements and soft play to keep the kids amused. Would definitely return and thanks to janet for renting out her lovely apartment.

Indian Summer

Review Submitted: September 25, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
This is a fantastic holiday home. The owners are friendly and helpful. The apartment is spotlessly clean, furnished with style. It is bright warm and comfortable. Well equipped, it really is a "home from home" The views are absolutely spectacular and the balcony is the perfect place to breakfast or just watch the world go by on the water. The French doors and large windows look out onto the sea and mountains. We were blessed with Autumn sunshine in late September and really could not have chosen a more perfect spot.
We were thrilled with the apartment and hope to return. Could not recommend this place highly enough.

We spent a lovely long weekend in Dundrum; the apartment was really luxurious, comfortable and tastefully decorated, fabulous views over Dundrum bay.
Although we had only the weekend we packed plenty in, on the Friday night we had a lovely meal in Buck Head Inn think we were lucky to get a table. On Saturday we a lazy breakfast on balcony and then went exploring into Newcastle, strolled the promenade followed by an ice cream and wee look round few shops. From there we headed to Killkeel again spectacular views. It was up early on Sunday road map out and headed to Downpatrick to see St Patrick’s grave and on to Bangor and home by Ardglass and Coney Island (guess who’s a Van the Man fan!!) Sunday night was a real treat in the Mourne Seafood Restaurant it was scrummy yummy there’s just no polite way to eat crabs claws!!! Monday morning we walked along the seafront and up to Dundrum Castle, maps out again we headed to Casltewellan and then on to Banbridge where we happed upon the new retail outlet park for some retail therapy. So as I say we packed a lot into a few days. We would love to return and do more of a walking holiday from what we seen there are lots of marked walks in around the Mournes. Oh yes all in all I’d thoroughly recommend Dundrum for your next holiday.

To sum up the location, the scenary and the tranquil settings surrounding this beautiful appartment, i would have to say it was perfect! the fine detail taken to ensure a comfortable easy stay was not unnoticed. I had a toddler with me and it was very secure and child proof. Gorgeous morning views from balcony and excellent location for access to beach and local nshops and restaurants. This is not one to be missed, a must for all the family!
