We've recommended this gite to everyone!

We couldn't have been more pleased staying in the La Forge gite. It was so clean, comfortable, and our hosts, Jean-Noel and Agatha are the best! We were very lucky to be the only couple staying in any of the gite's, so having the pool to ourselves was great.

We knew we wanted to stay near Carcasonne and the location was perfect. Just far enough to feel that you are in the country, but still close to the huge grocery store, the Canal du Midi and many castles and churches. The restaurants and site-seeing locations that our hosts suggested were fantastic. It was also very helpful that they speak English, too.

We just can't say enough great things about this property and location. You will not be disappointed! Oh, and it was nice to know we were the first Americans to stay here.

The perfect chill-out holiday for all.

Review Submitted: September 1, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We swore after our last package holiday that we would never go through the ordeal again. We had a few requirements that began with a direct flight from Cork, a small transfer time on the destination side and preferably somewhere in the South of France.

Carcassonne quickly came to the fore and detailed research quickly led us to Domaine de Cure - could it look more attractive??
We quickly booked the largest Gite for ourselves and our 8-year-old son, got rather lost on the way from Carcassonne airport, but knew as soon as we arrived that the trip would be worthwhile.
Jean-Noel warmly welcomed us and showed us around and we were delighted with the quality and finish of the Gite - it really had everything you could need for such a holiday. Our son fell in love with the pool and spent every waking minute there. We really wanted a lazy relaxing time so we spent most days lazing by the pool, using the barbeque, sitting outside enjoying the lovely courtyard and of course the rose and Marsanne wine recommended and stocked by Jean-Noel and Agathe at very reasonable rates.

The local Intermarche is great for all your self-catering needs and the selection of wines on offer is amazing. We tried a few restaurants locally, but were a little disappointed by what was on offer in this sphere - we should have done a little more research and travelled a little further afield, but we had a week and loved it.

Jean-Noel and Agathe were the perfect hosts and ensured a perfect relaxed week. We wish them continued success with their beautiful development.

Merci beaucoup!

Domaine de Cure - Beyond Compare

Review Submitted: June 11, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
On a whim (I loved the pictures of the La Forge kitchen!), we booked this gîte purely from the website and knew nothing of the area surrounding neither Carcassonne nor the gîte itself. My husband, my daughter (8 years old) and I couldn't have been more pleased. We stayed in La Forge and it was absolutely delightful - more than we could have imagined. Even better than the pictures. Everything was immaculate and extremely well maintained. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we required to cook wonderful meals and there was even a Weber grill in the courtyard for the shared use of the guests. The pool was a fabulous perk and the grounds are gorgeous. We hardly wanted to leave the Domaine to tour around the surrounding area! The owners, Agathe and Jean-Noel, have certainly attended to every detail. And the wine! Have I mentioned the wine?! The owners have compiled a stock of local wines that were absolutely appreciated - we would have never known what to try. Everything was extremely reasonably priced and very good quality.

The area itself had more than enough to do with Carcassonne and numerous villages nearby. The InterMarché grocery store has everything you could require and is only 10 or 15 minutes away. We also had wonderful meals at Le Grande Bouffe in Carcassonne (20 min drive) and L'Epicurean in Conques Sur Orbiel (less than 5 minutes away!). We found that restaurants on the outskirts of Carcassonne were of better quality than those near the Cité. There are two bakeries in Conques that have excellent quality bread and pastries which we took advantage of almost every morning. The gîte itself feels as though it is in the middle of the country yet you are only minutes away from everything you could need - what a great combination. The vineyard and mountain views and the stars at night are beautiful.

It was truly the most relaxing and memorable segment of a vacation that took us to Paris, the South of France and Barcelona. Jean-Noel and Agathe were an absolute wealth of information; from train tickets to restaurants and car rentals, we truly felt that they cared about us. We thoroughly enjoyed the company of them both and are already discussing our eventual return.

Congratulations on such an amazing property! It is beyond compare and we wish you continued success.

I recommend this property whole heartedly and wish we could be back there now!

A great base to explore Carcassonne region

We spent a week in the gite which has been beautifully restored. Set among vineyards, outside a small village a few kms from Carcassonne, it is an ideal base for exploring the region. Jean-Noel and Agathe are superb hosts and they will look after your every need. The gardens around the gite are very tranquil, which makes lounging around by the pool very tempting or returning for barbeques in the evening the ideal way to finish off the day. Try their recommended wines and use the local butcher!

Ben and Kate's honeymoon

Review Submitted: May 27, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We had a wonderful week here. All 3 gites are newly refurbished to a very high standard and the setting is beautiful too, with a huge garden around the pool. The wood burners are very effective and cosy at night if the weather should be cloudy or damp (as it was when we were there early May). The surrounding countryside is lush and gorgeous in May and we got to see just a fraction of it in our 1 week, there's so many places to visit round here. Jean and Agathe were extremely helpful hosts with maps, a list of local restaurants and even a wine list to help us out. If you are a foodie then this area is heaven with dozens of top class restaurants (we did 6 in a week) very close by, and Jean and Agathe know them all which really helps when you arrive. Most surprising visit - Lastours village just a few miles north of this gite, with Cathar castles and Michelin star restaurant. Most memorable trip - the climb upto the Cathar castle of Peyrepertuse 800m high and 800 years old...astonishing. Would recommend this place to anyone keen on adventure food and beauty!

Review Submitted: October 13, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We had a fantastic week. The gite was beutiful and very clean. The atmosphere at the Domaine de Cure was really welcoming and very relaxed and the setting was incredibly beautiful. It took no time at all to get to Carcassonne or onto the autoroute to explore further afield, so these gites make a great base for exploring the region. Most of all Agathe and Jean-Noel could not have been more hospitable. They were great help with information about the surrounding area and their supply of local wine meant no unforseen trips to the supermarche. We would definitely go back and we have already recommended these gites to friends and family.

A Restful Stay

Review Submitted: September 6, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We spent a week at Domaine de Cure during August 2008. Our gite was beautiful, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our stay, including a dishwasher and large fridge. Our hosts, Jean-Noel and Agathe could not have been more welcoming, or helpful, and they even supplied us with some fantastic local wine! The swimming pool was a big hit with our children, and we loved the peace and tranquility of the Domaine, coupled with the fantastic views of vineyards and mountains. We cannot wait to return to the Domaine for more R&R!

Entspannung in schöner Atmosphäre und Umgebung

BeeGeeFans Dossenheim, Deutschland
Review Submitted: October 25, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009

RundR Ludwigsburg
Review Submitted: June 16, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
