When we booked this apartment online, we did not read any of the written reviews, so we only had the photos to go by. Well, we couldnt have been happier. Chik greeted us on arrinval and very kindly carried our our heavy suitcases up to our apartment on the 2nd floor. He gave a thorough run through of the apartment and then spent more than half an hour explaining all about the area and what was available with regards to shops and eating. He also filled us in on the Subway and how to get around and provided us with a mobile to use for local calls and to contact him while we were staying.
The apartment was large, clear and airy with a king size bed in the bedroom and 2 queen size pull out sofas in the lounge. We were so comfortable we really didnt want to leave but we unfortunately had to return home.
The only complaint that we did have, if you can call it that, is that you can hear the people in the apartment above moving about.
The subway was only a couple of blocks walk away and within 15 minutes you were in Time Square. We queued to buy tickets at the Half Tix box and went to see a show on Broadway called "Rock of Ages" which I would highly recommend to anyone who was a young adult in the 80's.
I would happily recommend Chick and his apartment to anyone who is considering either a short or long term holiday in New York

This is a great apartment for your vacation. The description was correct, although the apartment was beyond expectation. The property was extremely clean. What was handy was that a well filled supermarket was just one block away. Also, owner Chik was very flexible with us when our flight plan was changed, and when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the bathroom. He gave us a cell phone for unlimited use in NYC and we could call him at any time. We would highly recommend this apartment!

Arranged our stay at the last minute for the Columbus Day holiday weekend. Apartment was in a great location and was perfect for 4 adults. Pull out couches were easily manueverable and comfortable. Apartment was very clean and nicely decorated. Short, 3 block walk to subway station. Owner was accomodating, informative and very visibly 'present' which added to our comfort level. We had the third floor apartment so it was up two flights. This wasn't a problem for any of us, but might be an issue for any travelers with mobility issues. Neighborhood was nice, there was some street noise during the night but not anything we deemed out of line for nighttime city noise. Over all, a delightful experience and we would rent this apartment again. Thanks Chik!!

Wow what a find, we could not have wished for more !
The apartment is a beauty, spacious, clean, more than enough room for the four of us. Chic was the perfect host, we found his local knowledge invaluable and he was always there if we needed any advice. We were wary of the neighbourhood before arrival but once there found everyone friendly, approachable and most importantly we felt safe. The local area is residential but has shops to cater for every need within minutes walking distance of the apartment. The subway again is a couple of minutes walk away, you can be in Times Square within 10 minutes ! Overall we had a perfect time in this apartment and could not find any faults and would recommend this as a great place to stay whilst in New York.

The apartment was great. Very clean and the sleeper sofas were very comfortable. Located in a very safe and friendly ethnic area that allowed us to experience city life while also being very close to the subway that took us to and from the city every day. Chik was VERY helpful with directions to and from the airport & NYC. He also provided a lot of of helpful suggestions on how to best plan our trip. I would very much recommend these accomodations vs staying in a hotel - especially for families (we had 4 in the apartment and were quite comfortable).

What a find in Manhattan! Fantastic price for the space & amenities. We want to come back for a month. Chik, our host, was so helpful, meeting us when we arrived and giving a perfect orientation to the apartment, the neighborhood, and getting around. We saved so much in time with just a few minutes with Chik -- the perfect host! The apartment is just as described--even better. So much space! A whole floor to ourselves with a private entrance. We felt safe & secure. And very quiet. We could really spread out and feel comfortable relaxing (hi-def TV, iPod, internet, kitchen) after a long day touring. The neighborhood was real Manhattan--families, children, parks, shops for the locals and the coming & going of people who actually live here, not the tourist attractions of many hotel districts. The apartment was convenient to everything and so easy to get around without any subway transfers. The subway is only a short walk and in a few minutes we were anywhere. Chik and your apartment made our long-planned holiday in New York City the best. Everything was perfect & gracious. We will definitely be back! Thank you.

The apartment turned out great,exactly as it was advertised on the internet.The apartment is well maintained and spotless.I was scared on booking this apartment but the owner was very reassuring up to the last day.The owner was very helpful and always at hand to answer any queries.
The apartment is within walking distance to the subway as stated in the advert and is also conveniently located to access central New York.
On arrival we had a warm welcome and the owner went through all the things he thought might interest us, the shops, places we might want to visit. The detailed information he provided made our stay in New York a pleasant one.
Good places to shop were China Town (Canal St), Conways at 34th Street. Don't leave without trying Ted's Steak House at 34th Street. Statue of Liberty was a great place to visit but if you are travelling winter time please take a hat, scarf and very thick coat as it was freezing.
Remember to put aside about $150 for taxi fare to and from the airport and don't get carried away with too much shopping as they are very strict with the baggage allowance.
I feel i have found a second home and i am looking forward to staying in the same aprtment.

I have to say that I was extremely impressed with the owner of the apartment who is extremely helpful. Without him our tour of New York might have not been as interesting as it was. The apartment itself is immaculate, just as described. The only thing I think would benefit the apartment more would be the change of the sofa bed. The Futon supplied was very comfortable but the fact that you had to lay it every morning was a bit inconvenient but not impossible. The location is exactly as described, very close to subway, everything is just 5 minutes away from the apartment - might not need to go Downtown as everything is just there. Restaurants are just a stone throw away. Would highly recommend this apartment and if ever I am going back there would certainly use it again. Gillian

i can not think that there is a better apartement for staying in new york.
from our first inquiry we have got the best customer service from the owner. All our questions were answered friendly.
the discription of the location is exact. the apartement is located within a private townhouse on 140th street, a residential historic district with families and children, parks and electic neighborhoods. It has the convenience of being just steps off broadway
we, 3 adults, lived for 21 days in the apartement, so we are
able to say that the property was very clean, secure, spacious and comfortable. we were close to everything, shopping, restaurants, entertainemet etc. the closest subway is just a 2 block, 2 minutes walk away. a taxi or towncar is available at the door, so you can reach eyerything in a few minutes.
The neighborhood is quiet, safe and conveniend, Grocery. banks, restaurants, pharmacy, dry cleaners, etc. all are available at the corner. I can highly recommend this property to all my friends.

the appartment is good, although much to small for 3 or more people as the description promises. there is only 1 bedroom with a twinbed, and a living, where you may sleep on a futon on the ground. so it provides only quality- sleeping for two persons. not good for 50+.
It was clean. the owner is friendly. the neighbourhood is nice, most Latins. a good restaurant here is café largo! We had a great time in nyc!
