Fantastic Home, Fantastic Vacation

GuyT Newport News, Virginia, USA
Review Submitted: June 25, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
What an extraordinary home. Beautifully appointed with everything you need in place. Spacious rooms for gatherings, and a seperate 'family' room upstairs for the children to play in while the adults converse. Minutes from everything, beach, food, siteseeing yet the house secludeded and quite, 'off the beaten path'. A car isn't absolutly necessary but you will want one to travel the ring of Skellig and visit the Chocolate factory and the candle maker on Valencia Island. The beauty of the area is really not possible to describe, even pictures and video don't do justice to the majesty and beauty of God's creation in this little piece of heaven called Ballinskelligs.

OUTSTANDING holiday

Review Submitted: June 13, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We stayed 1 week at Rose Cottage and wish we had booked for 52! The cottage is gorgeous and very well equipped- lovely kitchen - well fitted baths- the living room area is so comfortable and the floor to ceiling fireplace is beautiful. True to word there is lots to do nearby- The view from the front room/front garden/bedroom is totally breathtaking. the Ring of Kerry is awesome as well as trips to valentia island, Killarney and Cork.
Our favourite part of the trip?- just staying in the cottage or sitting in the front garden. Dessy, our host, is a great guy.
The minute that we got home, we started saving to go back!! Rose Cottage is indeed heaven on earth!!

Fabulous five days at Rose Cottage

Four of us enjoyed this glorious warm cosy cottage in Ireland for 5 days and will return one day. Great views, all mod cons and close to surrounding villages but far away for peace and privacy. Fully recommend it and promise you will enjoy it. Kaye and Andrew from Australia

Summer in South West Kerry

Fudgecake West Yorkshire, UK
Review Submitted: August 28, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This property was perfect in every way for our party of nine people which included two professional forty somethings, two teenagers, a four year old, two disabled aunties and a pair of elderly grandparents! It was large enough to accommodate us all with room to spare. The open plan living/dining/kitchen was fantastic with its amazing slate fireplace stretching to the ceiling in this double height room and the owners had given thought to everything, from the furnishings and appliances right down to the garlic press! It was home from home in many respects except that the location was far better! The bedrooms were unusually large for a rental property, the large gated garden was ideal for our small child to run round and play, the mountain bikes allowed our teenagers the chance of independence and the upstairs den was also a god send for the children with a separate TV and sofa. The owners were extremely friendly and the property was very well maintained. Ballinskelligs is beautiful but a bit remote so a car is absolutely necessary, but it is worth it. Watersports enthusiasts and golfers would be equally at home in the region with lots of choice, some closer than others so be prepared to travel. A visit the Skellig chocolate factory not far away is a must for chocolate lovers. Its hard to believe that this tiny place that produces fabulous hand made chocolates, which you can sample prior to purchase, sits in the Glen almost all alone overlooking St Finan's Bay with the spectacular views towards the Skellig rocks. Kenmare is the place to go for quality shops and good restaurants. Tralee has the water dome if the children prefer a leisure pool with lazy river as opposed to open water. Dingle has the aquarium and of course trips out to sea to catch a glimpse of Fungi the dolphin. A visit to Killarney's Muckross House and gardens in the National Park is great and there are jaunting cars for a trip around the lake edge.
The list of things to do in this region is endless however, we found Ireland to be generally very expensive compared to the UK. Despite that we would definitely recommend this property and will no doubt visit again.

The house, fittings and fixtures and decor were fabulous. It is a really peaceful area, perfectfor a relaxing holiday. The locals are really helpful and accommodating. There is some fantastic scenery and beaches locally, and The Smugglers Restaurant in Waterville was superb.By the way, it may be a ten minute walk to the pub, but it is a little longer coming back!!!!!!

Rose Cottage, Ballinskelligs.

Excellent property in an isolated location. Ground floor accomodation makes it an ideal property for the disabled. Property owners very friendly and helpful.
Excellent area for those that enjoy walking, adventure and sightseeing or just a quiet getaway.
A car is essential as the property is certainly isolated from the larger villages and towns. The views in the surrounding areas are breathtaking providing the weather is kind.
