Fabulous holiday - hope to return!

Review Submitted: September 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Camelot is a beautiful, well maintained and thoughtfully equipped villa. It feels as though you are in a lovely private location, yet have easy pedestrian access to a lovely beach and are not too far from either Holetown or Speightstown. The villa is in a small secure development of 8, with a shared pool. The pool and gardens are immaculately maintained.
There are lots of great restaurants within easy reach, to suit all budgets. We would particularly recommend Ju Ju's beach bar, either just for a relaxed drink on the beach or for a delicious, reasonably priced lunch.
All the beaches on the West Coast are gorgeous, we would recommend Folkstone for fantastic snorkelling and Payne's Bay for swimming out to see the turtles.
You certainly don't need a car to get around the island, the bus service is excellent (the yellow reggae buses being the most fun!) but it might be worth considering hiring a car for a few days, particularly to explore the East Coast. Some of the beaches on that side of the island are breathtakingly beautiful (and almost deserted bar a few locals when we were there). Our particular favourites were Bottom Bay and Foul Bay.
This was my fourth time in Barbados, my daughter's second and our friends' first (they are already talking about next time!). It's the first time that I've not stayed in a hotel and have opted for the self-catering option. It was the best holiday we've had by far!
Camelot is just perfect and our best memories would probably be lazy drinks on the verander whilst watching the beautiful sunsets, lovely relaxed evening meals with friends (with the background chorus of the whistling frogs and crickets) or just watching the visiting humming birds.
I cannot personally thank Rebecca (the owner) enough. She has been incredibly helpful; from my initial enquiry, throughout the booking process and lead up to the holiday (eg planning airport transfers, car hire company recommendations and sorting out a grocery welcome pack), even giving us a call at the villa a couple of days into our holiday to check all was ok. Nothing was too much trouble. We were even able to extend our stay by 3 days (thank you Rebecca), that's how much we loved it!
We will definitely be coming back to Barbados, hopefully to stay at Camelot once again.

We had an excellent time in Barbados and were very pleased that we chose to stay at Porter's Court. The house was very well equipped, nicely decorated and in an excellent position within the development of 8 houses. It was very safe and our kids age 3 and 5 loved it. The pool was perfect for them to play in while we read our books by the side! We found it easy to get to the local beach which was beautiful with good swimming. Ju ju's beach bar was perfect for sunset rum punches and we also really enjoyed the nearby lonestar. Yvette the housekeeper was able to babysit and allow us some dinners out without the kids which was perfect. We also found it very easy to drive (and park) at many other beaches. There is supermarket and lots of other places to eat nearby in Holetown. If you are happy to to use the local buses there would be no need to hire a car, but with young kids it was easier for us to have one.
Rebecca, the owner, was very helpful during the booking process and even called us on our arrival to check that everything was OK - many thanks! Hopefully we will return to Barbados one day.

A fantastic two week holiday

Ina and Ken Houston, Scotland
Review Submitted: July 31, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have just returned to Scotland following a fantastic holiday in Camelot, Porters Court. The villa itself is very comfortable and had everything we needed. We chilled out for two weeks, spending our days on a deserted beach between the Royal Pavilion Hotel and the Lone Star restaurant, followed by Beefeater and Tonic on the terrace with a game of Yahtzee before moving on to one of many great local restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the Lone Star, the Beach House and the Fish Pot. The yellow reggae bus is a must and a bargain at $1.50 for any length of journey. Everyone was very friendly, from Yvette, the housekeeper, to the many locals we met along the way. We hired a car from Ballantynes and explored the whole island. The east coast is a must with a fantastic coast line reminiscent of Scotland (but with better weather!) and the Crane beach is also a highlight of the holiday.

This was our first holiday without our children, who now want to do their own thing, so it was always going to be different. However, everything was fantastic and we will definitely be back!

Many thanks, Rebecca.

Perfect Porters Court - Camelot

Review Submitted: April 23, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Camelot at Porters Court is a perfect retreat. Very well placed within this small development with very pretty and well-maintained gardens, close but not too close to the shared pool. Perfect for a family with two young kids as we were. A quiet place but you didn't feel you had to keep too quiet with children. Ohter guests ranged from a retired couple, to couples with teenagers, to couples with young kids like ours.

A 5 minute walk along the busy coast road (but you can take a back route that takes only another couple of minutes) takes you to a very nice beach with good swimming. You can't hear the road as Porters Court is set back from it behind a house and Camelot itself is further protected by other villas. The Famous Lone Star restaurant is 5 mins walk away.

The villa itself is very thoughtfully kitted out, the friendly owner makes sure you have everything you need and actually cares that you have a good stay. Accommodation is spacious, homely rather than grand but very comfortable. Lovely outside terrace for dining.

Exceptionally clean and well-maintained with a friendly maid. Best of all this place was free of mossies which in some villas on Barbados can be a real nuisance.

We've stayed in lots of places on Barbados but Camelot came out on top for so many reasons. Fantastic value for the island considering the location and the excellent standard of accommodation. Highly recommended.

A perfect holiday

Review Submitted: March 17, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
Camelot is a stunning villa set in a small complex with a pool and easy pedestrian access to the beach. As Yvette, the house keeper, showed us around when we first arrived we couldn't believe our luck. The villa is immaculately well maintained and the hamper of drinks and nibbles on arrival was most welcome. The villa is well stocked with everything we could have possibly needed from cool boxes for trips to the beach to a massive selection of books and board games for lazy evenings at the house.
The location of Porters Court is perfect; far enough north of Holetown to escape the tourist traps but near enough for a stroll (25mins) into the many bars and restaurants. The bus service into Bridgetown is fantastic, cheap and fast(!), and the bus stop is right outside the pedestrian access to Porters Court.
We had many a relaxed evening meal on the verander as well as trying out the fantstic restaurants that the west coast has to offer. A firm favourite of ours was Ju Ju's on the nearby beach for sunset drinks and fantastic flying fish.
This was our 3rd trip to Barbados and by far our most fun, we definitely hope to return to Camelot in the not too distant future.
Thank you Rebecca and Yvette for our perfect holiday.

CAMELOT 3 Porters Court

Review Submitted: December 10, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
Camelot is a beautiful property which has been lovingly maintained. It feels like home from home. Porters Court is a very secluded area which feels secure due to the gated entrance and coded door. We felt completed chilled out as soon as we arrived and that continued for the whole of our holiday. It is in a great location, the bus service is second to none and you don't need a car to see the island. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to completely relax and get away from the stress of every day life in the UK.

Camelot, 3 Porters Court

Review Submitted: May 20, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
We have visited Barbados many times, staying in hotels but recently have discovered the benefits and freedom of having a home away from home, Camelot delivers that and more.
The delightful property has a lovely postion not only on the island but also in this small, friendly development, it is light, airy and cool. We found it comfortable, clean and stocked with everything you could need. Yvette the housekeeper is helpful and discreet, nothing is too much trouble.
The pool and gardens are immaculate, quiet and often all yours, it really is a peacefull place. However just a short walk and you are on the beach, a lovely stretch with great swimming, a beach bar or a top class restaurant. The bus runs from near by too so you can easily reach Holetown or Bridgetown or head North to Speightstown.
Rebecca, the owner is very helpful, she responds quickly to enquiries and the process of booking runs reasurringly smoothly.
I highly recommend Camelot, we will be back, actually I wish I was there right now!

Lovely relaxing holiday

We want to both thank you for the use of your lovely house - Camelot was so nice and relaxing, and helped to make an excellent holiday - could say it was too short but then always is. We spent quite a bit of time on the beach near Ju Ju's, but also went up and down the coast and reminded ourselves what other areas are like, and we ate in a different restaurant each night and enjoyed all the nearby haunts.
The house was very well presented and the housekeeper made us very welcome - the house was all clean and tidy, and the pack very comprehensive and useful

Lovely holiday at Camelot

Family from Sussex UK South East UK
Review Submitted: April 29, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
We have recently returned from a fantastic two weeks at Camelot. The Villa and location was excellent and Yvette looked after us very well. Porters Court is close to the amenties of holetown with its restaurants and shops, but a hidden haven of peace & tranquility. We spent hours just relaxing on the beautiful comfortable deck listening to the birds and around the pool area. The gated location was perfect and safe for our two little girls.to play and explore and enabled the adults to relax and have a holiday too! I would recommend this villa to everyone, but especially for families with young children. I read 4 books, quite an achievement with a 4 & 5 year old in tow!

Superb Villa and Location

We enjoyed a wonderful holiday in Camelot. The villa was perfect and provided us with an ideal home from home with creature comforts even down to towels for the beach. The staff at Porters Court were superb and our every need was catered for. The pool is beautiful and set among exotic palm trees.
Barbados is a magnificent holiday venue and is inhabited by the most friendly people imaginable. The island enjoys countless attractions, beautiful beaches and restaurants. Porters Court is an ideal base from which to explore the island. We cannot wait to return to this idyllic and tranquil retreat. We highly recommend this to all visitors to Barbados.
