Over the years, we have stayed in many villas/houses in many different locations - fair to say this is the loveliest.

Spotlessly clean and clearly well loved and maintained by Fiona & Graham the cortijo is well appointed and comfortable. It sits at the foot of a breathtaking mountain range close to a small market town with several excellent restaurants and bars, small shops and a decent supermarket - you really don't need to go far for everything you need.

Outside the pool and garden are idyllic. Plenty of sun loungers, a large pool and any number of olive, orange and fig trees in the lovely garden and terraces.

The transaction was easy and efficient at all stages, good communication and plenty of local information was provided and Fiona & Graham are very welcoming and helpful without imposing themselves.

Granada (with the awesome Alhambra and Generalife as well as much more to see) is about 50 minutes away, the coast about the same. There is plenty of walking and the views and surroundings just superb.

It really is difficult to find fault with the property and the service and friendliness shown by its owners. We would return tomorrow and are very happy to recommend this as a great holiday destination.

What a wonderful place to stay!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. Everything was as we had hoped and wished for. The house was very clean, with plenty of space - the grounds were lovely - our children enjoyed hunting for geckos every night and grasshoppers in the day, and the garden contained fig trees, grape vines, pomegranate trees, almond trees and orange trees...all covered in fruit! The swimming pool was excellent, clean and refreshing and just the right size! The house was very secure and peaceful though close to the road leading into the town. There was also a very accessible track leading up into Orgiva, and the town itself we really enjoyed too. Plenty of bars and restaurants - friendly people and everything we needed. The house was a great place for children - easy to keep them inside when we weren't all around the pool. Graham and Fiona were very welcoming and gave us all the information we needed. Thank-you both for a wonderful stay. Our only two recommendations would be a CD of Spanish flamenco music and a nut cracker for the almonds! Our only hesitation in recommending it is that it may be too booked out for us to return!!

Many thanks for the lovely review, so glad that all the family enjoyed the Farmhouse. I think we can run to a new set of nut crackers and some Flamenco, thanks for the feedback.

Best wishes and would love to see you all again next year.

We stayed at the property for 2 weeks with our 2 kids aged 1 and 2, plus 2 sets of grandparents staying for a week each with an overlap, and there was plenty of space for all of us. Everything was clean and comfortable, with spacious reception areas and kitchen. It was great to have such a large and private garden and pool, and a bonus to be able to pick grapes, figs and almonds. Graham and Fiona were very helpful and friendly, and always available for advice or to help rescue our 2 year old son who had locked himself in the bathroom!
We all had a great, relaxing time, and would recommend the property to any family

Sun, Swimming pool and Sangria

Review Submitted: August 15, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
An 'easy' property to live in, comfortable, lots of space for the five of us (2 adults and 3 teenagers), all the essentials and tastefully decorated.
Our stay at the farmhouse started with a warm, friendly welcome, and within minutes we realized our expectations had been exceeded - the photos do not do the property justice. The views of the mountains from the garden and terraces are truly spectacular and we would have ventured up these but sitting and relaxing by the large pool was just too tempting in the July heat. Being able to pick oranges warmed by the sun, straight from the trees was an added bonus. For those not wishing to worship the sun god, shade was provided by the lovely old olive trees.
Overall we thoroughly recommend this property - many thanks to Fiona and Graham.

We arrived late on saturday night to a warm welcome which set the tone for the rest of the holiday. The welcome pack was excellent and got us off to a great start particularly as flight delays prevented us doing any shopping.

The farmhouse was booked for a family holiday with our children and grandchildren and proved to be a superb setting although we did not travel very far from base prefering to spend time around the property. This might have been different if we had stayed for a second week. . The spacious accomodation, extensive grounds and wonderful swimming pool provided us with all we wanted. The fact we had a pool to ourselves with small children was very important. It is also important to note the water was warm although it may not be so earlier in the year,

The farmhouse was as well equipped (if not better) than any we have stayed in before and we have stayed in quite a few over the years. Also the rooms were large and did not overheat due to the stone structure of the building

We found Graham and Fiona very welcoming hosts and were avaiable as and when required without being obtrusive , It is quite pleasent to have english speaking owners.

We, a s a family, would certainly want to return for more of the same

All the very best.

Three generations stay near Orgiva

Granovita Norwich, Norfolk
Review Submitted: July 13, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Best things about this property:
Lovely pool and grounds
Big kitchen
Close to town - shops, restaurants, market
Owners very friendly and obliging

Not so good things:
Staircase was alarming for toddlers and elderly
Beds were hard and short (we are a tall family though)
No cover/mattress on hard plastic sunbeds

We had a very peaceful holiday there. We were all ages except teens. It was too hot in July to sightsee much. The mountain villages were beautiful, several delightful restaurants up there and in Lanceron (especially the one by the spring water taps).

We enjoyed our stay here so much, it was like having our own private boutique hotel in the Andalusian countryside! It's an easy drive from Granada and as a group of ten, we had plenty of room and privacy, and made the most of the wonderful BBQ and outdoor dining area. The decor is gorgeous, with real attention to detail and if you are looking for somewhere special for a group holiday choose this property!

We found the farmhouse very spacious for 2 families and the pool was perfect for 4 boys (14, 13, 12 and 8) and 4 adults in need of sun and relaxation. The owners were very accomodating and showed us the amazing irrigation system which operates throughout the region. The 3 mountain villages (Pampaneira is the first) are only a 20 minute drive away and are pretty and a cool escape from the summer heat. We also enjoyed walking into Orgiva for evening meals, drinks and tapas. We can recommend Lanjaron for some typical Spanish evening paseos. The house functions really well in the heat and has been beautifully restored. A perfect family holiday.

Fantastic holiday accomodation

Review Submitted: August 20, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We rented the farmhouse with another family at the end of July & had a wonderful holiday. The children, aged 11, 10, 9 & 7, made full use of the pool, but also enjoyed the well stocked video library when they needed a break from the sun. The adults enjoyed the peace & tranquility of the farmhouse & the fantastic view of the mountains.

The villa is very clean & spacious & one of the best equipped places we have stayed in. Thank you, Graham & Fiona, for the wonderful welcome pack. It really did make us feel welcome & it was great not to have to rush out to the supermarket. We enjoyed being able to do a bit of cooking & barbequeing, but being able to walk into Orgiva for dinner was great too. We particularly enjoyed the restaurant near the bridge which had a garden area to sit in (no idea what the name was!)

The farmhouse is extremely well placed for visiting all sorts of places & we had several trips to the coast, we went to the caves at Nerja, Frigliana, into the mountains & to Granada. The adults particularly enjoyed the visit to the Alhambra Palace but the favourite for the kids was swimming in the mountain pool (ask Graham for directions!). There is plenty of information in the villa for planning trips & the information pack that Graham & Fiona send out beforehand is pretty comprehensive & very useful. We had such a good holiday & would love to return, so would highly recommend the farmhouse.
