Wow, I love peace & quiet

This is not the first villa holiday I've been on, but it set a new standard for us.

From the moment we chose the holiday the service and communication from the English owner was second to none, and the management company on the island were equally as helpful.

We have never visited Zante before so were please to find the island was freindly with all the things you need within walking distance of the villa, even with a toddler. The taxi at the airport was easy to arrange and we arrived at the villa in no time at all. The villa was clean and tidy, and very spacious, we settled in quickly and went to find the supermarket, the welcome pack and maps are particularly useful.

The first night was fantastic, the furniture and linens were clean and high quality (sorry but cheap towels and bedding is a bug bear), and the peace and quiet, wow. The following day we tried the pool, it is a definate must when baking in the sun, BBQ for dinner by the poolside with a cold beer. We holidayed as a pair of families with toddlers of the same age, so both sets of parents got the odd evening out, and the night life didn't let us down. Meals are good value and a good standard, the bars and clubs are lively and entertaining.

The beach was as promised about 15 minutes walk, and a definate for kids who have never seen fine sandy beaches. Once again the overwhelming feeling of the island during the day is of relaxation, there's plenty of places to eat out during the day with or without children.

We will definately be booking again for 2010.

Green Pool in "Paradise"

Hants in Country Hampshire/ United Kingdom
Review Submitted: November 24, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Our nightmare in Greece began with arrival and finding the place disgusting. Rubbish throughout the house, in the front garden, pool with green water, dirty toilets, etc. It then took 7 hours to get the place “sort of” clean. This is after I spent 30 pounds sterling calling the property manager, caretaker, homeaway, the owner. This was one of the days we were without power. You need a card to insert by the door to turn the power on. This was different to all the other villas. We finally learned this after speaking to the owner and searching through the rubbish to find the card. I also received a strong electrical shock at the place you place the card. The second time we were without electricity (I think the caretaker did not pay the bill), he had his friend come wire at the electric meter so we could have power. But then for the next few days, “due to this power arrangement” we could not run all of the air conditioners at the same time. Other experiences in our nightmare: we were without electricity for 2 days, no water for 4 days. On the days we had water we had to ration it. One shower only and we used the water from the pool to flush to toilets and wash the dishes. After numerous complains to the caretaker, a water truck arrived at the house with 3 days left in our 9 days nightmare. His explanation that a water truck was expensive, 50 Euro. From talking to local people, the lack of water in summer is very common. I as well as other people in the villa complex obtained an ear infection from the dirty water in the pool and had to see a doctor. The bed were very uncomfortable beds. There is no book to explain how the house works. The tanks that hold the water outside the house are extremely dirty inside. The main tank is open at the top and exposed to the environment, leaves, animals, insects, dirt, etc. The place is 2.6 km from the nearest beach, about a forty-minute walk. There is very little within walking distance to the villa, we definitely should have gotten a car.
Owner's Response: I was disapointed to hear the gentlemans review, over the past two seasons we have had a few issues with water and electric as the island is small and they don't have a lot of rain. To ensure there is always enough water there are two storage tanks containing 2000litres of clean water which normally is sufficent if the local supply is unavailable. The pool is cleaned twice a week and the people who went in before the American gentleman left an excellent review and my sister went in straight afterwards and again thought it was lovely. Villa Ella is new and has marble floors and granit worktops, the beds were purchased from a hotel chain supplier so are very high quality with a king size double bed in the main bedroom. The cleaners have been working with the management team from the begining and ensure all areas are clean both inside and out. I ensure the villa is clean and well maintained personally as we are keen for people to enjoy their holiday and rebook for the future, there are local directions for shops beaches, and vehicle rental information along with all contact numbers for the management team fixed to the kitchen wall so I'm not sure why these were over looked, they are A4 size. Every effort is made to ensure the villa is kept up to the highest standard which is why we usually get great feedback. To ensure new arriveals can gain immediate access we have installed a key safe which allows clients to settle in straight away, unfortunitly the American gentleman didn't realise the keyfob needed to be placed in the slot at the front door for electric. After he called and I explained he fitted the key fob into the slot and had electric and water, shortly after the manager arrived and explained how the airconditioning controllers worked. He did call again during his holiday to ask if he could have a reduction in his rental fee if he didn't use the cleaners, this was refused as I have contracts for the management of both the pool maintenance and grounds and villa cleaning. I am disappointed that he has said these things as we make every effort to ensure all return home relaxed and happy. We have just planted an extra six trees in the garden and covered the planted areas with white stones which looks really nice and we will continue to look with a critical eye for other improvements. Many thanks the owner.

Fantastic Holiday

Review Submitted: September 27, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Went to Villa Ella at the end of August 2009 and had a really great time. We were given a map by Jill the manager and the taxi from the airport was easy, when we got to the villa there was a keysafe so we just went straight in. Once inside you put the key in a slot like you do in hotels, so when you go out you just take your keyout and you don't need to worry about switching things off. The place was lovely, very clean and homely with lots of extra's which you don't normally get in rental accomodation. There were lots of different videos for us and the kids plus CD's (all tastes) The pool was a good size and was cleaned twice while we were there, very welcoming. We found the information sheets on the wall in the kitchen very helpful and the local car rental gave us a discount! The island is not to be confused with other countries, its got a pace which is so laid back that you just relax and enjoy. We're going to book for next year as the place was just right. Great place, great locals and a great villa.

Beautiful villa in a quiet peacefull location

We were the first guests at villa ella in May 2009 and had a lovely relaxing week in the sun. The villa is situated in a quiet spot in Agrilia which is close to Laganas but around a half an hr walk to the nightlife, taxi's are only 6 euros and telephone numbers are supplied in the villa. Although we were not greeted by anyone when we arrived and had to wait to get access the villa was spotless when we got in and absoloutley beautiful, even nicer than we expected. It is very well equiped and the owners have obviously put alot of effort into supplying you with everything you will need to make your stay perfect. The pool was lovely and we rented a beach buggy to get us out and about, would reccomend this or hiring a car as the main supermarket (Lidl) is about a 5 min drive although there are small local supermarkets close by that are more expensive. We had some problems with water and electricity but this didnt spoil our stay, we had a fab week and plan to return in October. Villa Ella was perfect for us, nightlife in laganas was excellent but far away enough to be able to chill out and relax through the day, also has some excellent restaurants. We went to the local butchers opposite Lidl and bought meat to have a barbeque and it was excellent quality, highly recommended. I have already recommended Villa Ella to friends and family and cant wait to go back later in the year.

5 star holiday experience!!

I thought i would write this review because i am booking my next holiday to Villa Ella. My holiday experience was amazing! The villa was gorgeous with everything i could have asked for and more. We got our taxi straight away and were at the villa very quickly. We picked our keys up from the key safe without any problems and settled in to the homely villa very quickly.

The beach was a short walk away, taxis were very cheap and so we explored the nearby towns with ease. The scenery is beautiful. Our four year old daughter was treated like a princess by all the locals. The restaurants and bars were very welcoming for the whole family.

The villa was very clean and tidy and the furnishings were lovely, everything you would expect from a 5* plus. We very quickly settled in and spent alot of our time in the pool which was lovely. The weather was hot and sunny.
This villa is obviously well maintained. We had no problems and will be using this lovely Villa for our holiday very soon.
We will be reccomending it to our friends!!
Owner's Response: Really glad they enjoyed there holiday, Villa Ella was only finished in 2007 so this is the first year it has been fully booked. We are happy that everyone who visited had a great time. One or two minor issues were soon sorted out at the begining of the season and we are looking forward to next year. Many Thanks for all the reviews.

Brilliant holiday!

Review Submitted: August 27, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
Us 3 girls stayed at villa ella in the middle of may. It was our first time staying at a villa so we was a bit nervous. Once landing in Greece we couldnt wait to get to the villa and jump in the pool! but... we was disappointed to find that there was no one waiting for us. There was abit of a mix up as our flight changed but the owner was aware. After an hour or so we made our own way and found the villa with difficulty as no one had heard of it. Once we got to the villa the reps were there waiting which was lucky.

We were greeted and shown around which was lovely. The place was spotless and there was the essential food left in the fridge and cupboards.

The only let-down was that the pool wasnt heated and being in may the sun wasnt warm enough to heat it up but that didnt stop us. The washing machine didnt work, and wasnt fixed even though we reported it. Also there wasnt any instructions for the air-con/heating which would have been helpful.

Taxis were very cheap and reliable as we used them often to go into town and back, as the walk took about 25mins. Very nice cenery if u do walk. Food was quite cheap and the cocktails at night were lovely. There also wasnt a taxi arranged to the aiport going back which was dissapointing and there wasnt any refund.

Overall we had a lovely week and the villa was a great place to stay with lots of room and it was very homely. We would deffinatly think of going back.

Thanks.
Owner's Response: Glad to hear the girls had a great holiday, but sorry to hear about the flight change and the pickup wait. We realised early on in the year that flights and pickups could cause problems so as its easy to get a taxi and around 15euro we now supply all clients with simple direction for the taxi driver as the villa was only build in 2007. The pool isn't heated and can be a little fresh at the start of the season, most of Greece don't have heated pools. The washer has been replaced as it was new and became faulty, things take a little longer to replace on a small island. There are several ways to get to both the town and the beach and I'm glad they enjoyed the scenary. September is a good time to visit as the place is quiet after the rush of the summer holidays has past but the weather is still lovely and hot.

A WEEK OF BLISS

Kwak6 Lancaster
Review Submitted: July 4, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2007
I'm just about to book my next holiday to Zante for later in the year, so I thought I'd check the reviews for the villa, since my last stay.
I'm quite shocked that it was given 3 stars by one reviewer, as my stay last October was most certainly a 5 star holiday. Not one for writing reviews, I'd like to give my view of my holiday.
Firstly, my girlfriend and I loved the villa (the pool helped!) and the area itself. Very spacious for the two of us with all we needed for a comfortable week in the sun.
We had no problems with the taxi from the airport and we weren't waiting about to get into the villa.
The area was a great mix, letting us chill out during the days and when we wanted to have a more lively time at night, it was a short walk in to Laganas.
The beach was slightly longer than a 10 mins walk away, but was worth the walk.
At the end of the day, we had a fabulous holiday, in a great villa. And I'm booking my next stay there after I've finished this review.

Excellant Holiday

RnR seeker Southport, UK
Review Submitted: July 4, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We have not been on a villa holiday before, we were worried about transfers, food, security, distance to amenties. We could not have been more wrong, from the pre-paid taxi supplied to collect and deliver us to the airport, to the helpful notes left at the apartment guiding us to the nearby supermarket.

The villa was clean and well maintained, the furniture was good quality and seemed very solid. The quality of the rooms are to luxery standard, with a lovely secluded pool area.

When we had a query the management company were easy to obtain, and the useful contact numbers and directions provided in the villa were very useful and quickly eased our fears of not finding anything. The beach and town centre were just a short walk, both are quite family orientated places during the day, but the night life won't let you down either. The villa seems ideally placed so your near enough to walk to the bustle but far enough not to not even be aware the is a town centre half a mile away.

We tried a few restaurants and found the quality of food it to good or excellant in them all, the traditional Greek dishes in the traditional restaurants are a must.

The customer service we received from booking the holiday and throughout was excellant and a much more personal service than your average holiday rep at the side of the pool.

We really enjoyed our holiday and will definately be going back.

Villa comment

Review Submitted: June 28, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We did not let it spoil our holiday but we feel that the villa management could have been better. We'd booked a taxi which never arrived and when we eventually arrived at the villa we could not gain access. As a key is normally sent with villa holidays we were expecting someone there to greet us. The description of the villa was accurate although the walk to the beach was longer than the 10 mins quoted. We did enjoy our holiday but feel that the running of the villa was not as expected. The list below details some of the things which were missing from what would have been an excellent holiday.

No welcome pack as promised
No top sheet for one bed
No clean towels for a fortnight!!!!
Had to request clean sheets after a week!!!!
No cleaner for the whole fortnight!!!!
Dirty cupboards and mouldy contents - unusable
No bags for toilet bins
Water problems which the local man didn't rectify
Washing machine not working
Lack of customer services

The basic requirements that we would expect for any holiday and certainly for an 'executive villa' as advertised were not available, had these been available then our stay would have been excellent. We got the impression that we were not expected at the villa when we arrived and once the villa was opened we never saw anyone again.
Owner's Response: I was very sorry to hear that the six girls who stayed at the villa had to get a taxi from the airport and didn't get access to the villa immediately on arrival. We thought that it would be nice for us to pick clients up from the airport and take them to the villa but flight delays and changes have made us think again. The villa is only ten minutes away from the airport so we now give clients directions and have found this is the quickest way to start their holidays, costing approx 13 euro, which is good value. There is now a key safe which clients are given the number of to ensure they have instant access on arrival. The villa is cleaned before and after each family have enjoyed their holidays but cleaning during their stay will only be carried out on clients request as most families like their privacy and the marble floors and granit worktops don't need much attention. There was a mix up over the amount of bedding as the cleaners left to much in one of the other three villas in the olive grove. I have been promised that this will not happen again. We make every effort to ensure a great holiday is had by our clients and we can only apologise for the washer not working, the island had some water problems and the new washing machine has been damaged. Its new and the manufacture is replacing it. The girls gave the villa 3 out of 5 with the minor changes we want to give clients staying in our villa 5 out of 5.

My stay at Villa Ella

Libo Manchester
Review Submitted: June 24, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We stayed in Villa Ella for 2 weeks in May and found it to be a great place to be if you want to have a good balance between the peaceful suroundings of the Olive groves or taking a stroll into the town of Laganas for a more lively time. Zante town is close by and thats a wonderful place at night. The villa was easy to get to from the airport and the pool made keeping cool a pleasure. First rate furnishings and helpful management team.

Great time will be going again later in the year!!!
