This villa is such a great choice whether you are just visiting Girona itself or touring the surrounding area. It is maybe not ideal if you intend to use the train or buses as you would be a distance from your starting point but we hired a car and the free parking is a plus sign straight away. It wasn't so easy to find but the owner sent lots of instructions and it was only because we came off the wrong motorway exit and came into Girona a different way that put us in a bit of a tizz.
The photographs on this site are accurate and the villa is just so spacious.Admittedly there were only 3 of us but it still worked out cheaper than booking 2 quality hotel rooms in town. The views are lovely - well worth the walk up the steps to the property. We used to walk down (between 10 and 15 minutes) and taxi back. You can catch a taxi for 6.5 euros from round the corner of Placa Independencia and believe me it was money well spent. You can catch the number one bus but we weren't sure where to buy the bus tickets from or where the stop was.
I particularly liked the cosy living room - those settees are just so comfy and ofcourse the outside areas. It was a bit too chilly first thing in the morning (end of February) to sit outside but once we got back to the villa in the afternoon after doing our touring for the day we enjoyed sitting on the top balcony which really does catch the sun. We even had lunch up there one day.
There were only 2 english channels - a music one and a US comedy show one so an english news channel would have been good but you can take your own cd's and dvd's.
The property is clean and well maintained and the owners will answer any queries you have before hand and are very friendly.
List of what we did : Arab baths, city wall walk, tour of cathedral, brilliant indoor market just past Placa Catalunya and then over the bridge. Ate at The River Cafe (great meat on skewers which they called Arrows), tapas at Lizzaran which was great for sitting in the sun at lunch time. Lovely crepes at Creperie Bretonne, posher meal at Draps where they prepare large dishes "To Share". Avoid The Bistro near Cathedral! Disgusting! Days out to Figures for the Salvador Dali museum, Roses which was quiet at this time of year but we had a nice lunch at La Palmerias which was just on the end of the beach walk and packed out. Cadaques and Besalu also lovely.
Villa and area HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
