Autumn Break

threegens Reading, Berks, England
Review Submitted: November 13, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Three generations of the family found En Bretus met their needs. We had superb weather, peace and tranquility and pleasant views over rolling countryside. The accomodation catered for us all from 6 months to 60+ with all the necessary facilities and equipment. Meals on the terrace were a delight.
The welcome pack was superb and included homemade marmalade! Comprehensive information of what to do in the locality left us spoilt for choice and we were able to find tourist attractions to suit everyone - we enjoyed exploring Albi and Castres.
We're certainly going to recommend it to friends.

We had a wonderfully relaxing week. The cottage is amazing, the area is fantastic and Karren and Ian were so helpful.
I would highly recommend listening to the advice they give on where to go, and where to eat, they know their stuff.
Thanks for making our week away truely exceptional.

A beautiful place for a hoilday. The Villa is adequately equipped for a family. Location perfect for relaxing and for exploring this area of France. The local Saturday market a must. Lovely to swim in the pool and then eat on the terrace as the sunsets.

Relaxing and peaceful getaway

A fabulous spot to get away from it all. We spent 2 weeks at En Bretus and had a marvellous holiday. The cottage was clean, spacious and superbly equipped for our needs (a family of 4). The pool area and terrace had wonderful views and were perfect for eating al fresco. The location is peaceful and relaxing but not too far from Lavaur (the nearest town just a 10 minute drive), and under an hour to Toulouse and Albi. Lots to see and do in the surrounding areas. Owners couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend. Well done Karen and Ian!

Perfect Privacy

We found En Bretus to be the most perfect venue for a restful week.
Despite the relative proximity of the charming owners, we were most impressed that our privacy, so dear to us, was respected at all times. The house was immaculate and delightfully furnished, there were welcome gifts of coffee, jam and wine on our arrival, and the owners helped us to book tables at two of their recommended restaurants, both of which were excellent.
We made very good use of the swimming pool and also enjoyed the terrace and its pretty surroundings. There is a good-sized garden which wraps itself around the cottage, affording beautiful views and a delightful ambience. In addition, we found En Bretus to be a good base for sightseeing, enjoying visits to Castres, Albi, Puycelsi, Cordes, Castelnau and Carcassone, the latter being the only touristic place we visited yet still worth the trip!
We enjoyed the local amenities to be found at Lavours, although we regretted being too far away from a boulangerie for fresh croissants each morning! However, in our view, there were definite compensations to the remoteness of the cottage. Being animal lovers, we also gained great pleasure from the visits to our door of the owners' cats and dog!
We shall certainly recommend the cottage to our friends and family, and very much hope to return.

I am a regular at en-bretus, we went for the first time in 2004 and have returned several times since. The location is amazing, rural yet if you want to go to a supermarket you can just pop in the car and pick up supplies. Most recently I went with a group of 4 girlfriends, words cannot describe our amazing nights on the terrace watching the sun go down, with our glass of wine in hand and putting the world to rights!

The cottage itself is furnished to a very high standard and so clean you could eat off the floor! Its roomy and the owners have made the whole accommodation feel brand new yet rustic too (quite a talent!) and with 5 girls staying having 3 toilets was a must!! The owners are so lovely and extremely accommodating. Depending on when we have gone we have even been given some home grown veggies and tomatoes - not forgetting the figs and plums depending on the season! It is such a lovely touch and small things like that really make you feel welcome. I

We have been both with and without our children, and it is fantastic for a peaceful romantic break but equally the children love it. The terrace, private pool and gardens which are all fenced off are a godsend.

We just love en-bretus and keep going back - we arrive stressed to the hilt and leave floating on a wee cloud with smiles on our faces.

Roll on our next trip!

Holiday Idyll

Trevor & Jenny nr Peterborough, UK
Review Submitted: July 3, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
This cottage is full of character and situated in a very rural
location yet handy for visiting some spectacular parts of France. A vey warm welcome and assistance was available although our privacy was respected. The cottage was roomy and well proportioned for 6 with a lovely private patio with views of the Pyrenees and countryside. All comforts were here and the use of space in the en-suite mater bedroom inspired.

We had a little trouble with smoke from the wood burner setting off the alarm but now we know its battery and not mains we will deactivate it in future visits. The cottage was clean and not showing any signs of "tiredness".

The private swimming pool was a real bonus and kept clean without disturbing us and there is a large private garden if you have children who wish to let off steam.

The home made marmalade was excellent and the welcome pack a nice added touch.

We intend to return.

Wonderful place to stay

Review Submitted: June 23, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
I stayed here with 2 friends in April and we had a wonderful time. The cottage itself is lovely, very clean, comfortable and well-equipped and as described. The owners were extremely helpful and very nice, offering advice, booking a restaurant and leaving in shopping for our first night. Views from the terrace are beautiful and it's very quiet and peaceful. It wasn't warm enough to use the pool while we were there, but it looked lovely. Wood for the fire was provided and kindling could be found in the forest behind the house. It's a ten-minute drive to the nearest town with several supermarkets and a great market on Saturdays. All the relevant information is provided by the owners in a comprehensive manual. I'd definitely recommend this to a friend.
