Everything you need and all top quality!

Northern Pete London

I have just returned from staying at Jim and Paul's appartment in Galatina. First of all, the town. As soon as I arrived in the Piazza de San Pietro and got my first glimpse of Galatina, I knew it was going to be a great place to stay. Beautiful baroque churches, palazzos and all the shops you could need and more. A genuine, well conserved, deep South Italian experience.

As for the appartment, it was everything you see in the pictures and more. Very well finished with great attention to detail. Comfortable bed, very effective air-con, central but quiet, two great terraces to choose from and everything else you want to take on holiday but don't have room for; beach umbrella, coolbag etc. What I really liked was that no expense or thought had been spared. You didn't need to go out and buy loads of loo roll, dishwasher tabs, olive oil etc, it was all there. If you go in summer, you will live in the kitchen and first roof terrace till late in the evening. A suberb place to stay which I will recommend and return too!

Galatina is well placed for great excursions to either coast. All trips can be done in about an hour. Try Gallipoli, Sta Maria de Leuca, Porto Badisco, Porto Selvaggio and Torre Ulizzo.

I am really fussy when choosing holidays off the internet, trust me this place and its surroundings are top-notch. I actually preferred this region, The Salento, to the area that we went on to next, around Ostuni and Martina Franca. I will be back soon. Thank you Paul and Jim for being so professional in every respect.

fantastic visit in wonderful Galatina

Review Submitted: November 19, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
My sister and I adored Galatina. Exploring the town center provided us with many hours of amusement -- drinking coffee and eating rustici, visiting with shopkeepers, getting lost and finding ourselves again (and again), trying to sort out the customary closing hours, using our meagre Italian phrases and so on.

We were astonished at the range of shops in such a small town and basically shopped ourselves silly. We had a wonderful time!

We used the local train to take day trips to Lecce and Otranto and that worked just fine for us. I know there's lots and lots of exploring to be done in the region (and we'd love to be able to do that in beach weather someday), but we totally enjoyed our car-less visit.

The apartment was everything we expected -- your web site does an excellent job of presenting it and it is really lovely. The bed was comfy, bedding plentiful, the place wonderfully roomy! We cooked a couple suppers and really appreciated being able to make tea, do our laundry and spread out. We also appreciated the basics on hand in the kitchen -- cooking oil, tea, etc.

We would both love to return someday and to bring our husbands and families."

Real Italy in a wonderful apartment

Review Submitted: September 30, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
My wife and I stayed in this apartment during the first two weeks in September and I only have positive things to say. We are regular renters of privately owned accommodation, often using holiday-rentals, and found this probably the best we have ever stayed in.

The apartment itself, notwithstanding the steep stairs, had all you could want, even inducing us to dine in on a couple of evenings. There was also many extras provided, beach chairs, umbrella, cool bag for example. Jim & Paul have set their stall out to provide an apartment where you really feel comfortable and at home.

Customer service, both prior to and during our holiday, was almost to the point of "what more can we possibly do for you". The apartment itself was all you could want and Galatina a lovely town to stay in. There were plenty of good quality restaurants in the town and close by.

For those who like the beach, both the Ionian and Adriatic coasts are close by and if you like your culture, Lecce only 30 mins drive away.

If you like your holidays sampling local food and culture this is the place for you!

We stayed for a week during August 2009, and really loved it. The apartment is furnished to a very high standard and makes a perfect base for exploring the beautiful town of Galatina and the region of Puglia.
Galatina is a small but vibrant town, and makes a perfect relaxing getaway. We strongly recommend it.

A wonderful experience from start to finish

Ken & Chris Highbury, North London
Review Submitted: August 19, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
As the title says, this was a wonderful experience from start to finish.

We've never before come across property owners who were so helpful and obliging in ensuring that all our needs we met, and this helped to ensure a great holiday.

Galatina is a lovely town, within 30 minutes drive of both the Adriatic and the Ionian, and even closer to Lecce, with its delightful historical centre.

The apartment is just a couple of minutes walk from the town centre, and bars, restaurants and shops for the essentials are therefore close at hand. Inside, the high vaulted ceilings and air conditioning ensure comfortable conditions even on the hottest days (temperatures outside reached 34/35 during our stay in August).

The sofas in the living room are exceptionally comfortable, and we slept well throughout our stay. The double doors from the kitchen onto the lower roof terrace make eating outdoors very easy, and the views from the upper terrace across the town and surrounding countryside are excellent. We were even treated to a grandstand view of a firework display from a neighbouring town during our stay.

The only downside to the accommodation - pointed out by the owners in the advertising for the apartment - are the rather steep stone stairs that lead both from ground to living/sleeping level, and then again to kitchen and roof. For this reason alone, there would be concerns about having small children in the apartment, or people with mobility problems.

This reservation aside, we'd have no hesitation in recommending Jim and Paul's property - comfortable, exceptionally well located, and very reasonably priced.

Charming Puglian base...

Super Matteo London
Review Submitted: July 22, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We stayed here for a great week in early July and were delighted to have come across it. We quite happily spent lazy mornings and the occasional evening on the terrace leading from the kitchen or watching films in the spacious lounge. Parking was fine, the local amenities more than adequate while the bars, restaurants and ice-cream parlours were reasonable, friendly and delicious as ever in Italy. La Tana del Lupo round the corner was a fantastic find, the genial couple serving up two excellent meals along with lively conversation. We can recommend Baia Verde and San Cataldo for quieter beaches in peak season, outside of the likes of Otranto, Torre dell'Orso and Lido Conchiglie. You'll need a car to get the best out of the region, while it helps to learn a few key Italian phrases before you go. Really can't fault Paul and Jim's idyllic Galatina place to stay. Thumbs up, no doubt about it.

An excellent time in Galatina

Scott & Janet London, Essex
Review Submitted: May 21, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We had an excellent time in Galatina, this was due to Paul and Jim's help. The detailed information and assistance made sure we were off to a good start. We loved the apartment and Puglia itself, sadly there wasn't enough time to do everything we wanted in the time we had. We would definitely like to stay at the apartment again in the near future.

Old town apartment

Megfy St Helens, Merseyside
Review Submitted: May 7, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The apartment was very comfortable and well equipped. It's in an old building but it has been very well refurbished and furnished to a high standard. There are two sun terraces for sun-lovers, although we tended to use the lower one off the kitchen for eating outdoors and lounging about.
It is convenient for the town and everywhere is within easy walking distance. The Thursday market is further out of town but well worth the trip - get there early if you want to park nearby!
The booklet produced by the owners is very comprehensive and helpful, as are the owners themselves. There is no television, but there is a DVD player and digital projector so you can take your own DVDs or watch the ones provided .
Please be aware that there are steep steps involved - to the main floor and again up to the kitchen, which might hamper people with arthritic joints! Howver, we thoroughly enjoyed our week there and recommend it whole-heartedly.

Wonderful bolt hole for 2!

Review Submitted: April 23, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We have just returned from this gorgeous town house. For the 2 of us, it was perfect- breakfast on the roof terrace; walk to the local shops, bars and amazing ice cream shops; everything you need for peaceful escape! We explored the local region and loved it- especially some of the beaches which really need to be seen to be believed. Powdery white sand and bright blue sea, and in April, completely deserted!
We drove from the UK... madness maybe, but it meant we could bring back lots of wine!! Not the only reason (!), but a good one!
We would love to return.
