Rural heaven

Review Submitted: July 4, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Thank you, Jim & Jan, for making our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. The house is spotless and fully equipped with everything you'll need. Outside meals are a delight under the canopy, with a lovely breeze coming from the valley.
The views are sensational and the pool much appreciated when the temperature gets a bit high - hit 35 degrees one day.
The location is so idyllic that we didn't sightsee as much as we planned - but don't miss the Saturday market at Sainte-Foy-le-Grande.

The barn has been renovated to a very high standard; it's fully equipped with everything you could ask for. The location is simply idyllic: the views are glorious, and the pool & garden are very well-maintained. The owners – Jan & Jim - are very welcoming, generous people; they were very helpful through-out our stay. Highly recommended!

What a find

What a find. The barn lived up to our expectations based on the website information and more. It is very clean, well maintained and has everything you need for a relaxed holiday. The location is idyllic in the middle of a vineyard with views in all directions but not far from Gensac and other lovely towns. The pool was wonderful and well used by all. The BBQ with free vine wood was great as was the boules court. Jan and Jim were very welcoming, very helpful with local information, booking for canoeing, walks around the vineyards and forest etc. There were many little touches that we didn't expect, such as a herb garden and fruit trees to help ourselves to, which put the finishing touches to a wonderful week. We can't wait to return.

"Beautiful gite in wonderfully converted stone barn. Lovely pool and garden, surrounded by vineyards. Very private, but with hosts who are always ready to assist and inform if required. Spacious, clean and well equipped, everything has been provided, even down to linens and towels/pool towels. We made good use of the BBQ, vinewood provided, for relaxed meals outside in this tranquil atmosphere, and became boules addicts in a very short space of time! Pretty towns & villages within easy reach include Sainte Foy, Monsegur, St Emilion - all worth a visit, as are the regular markets.
Full marks!

This is a beautifully converted barn, fully equipped with all modern amenities - everything you need and more!
The views are glorious, surrounded by vineyards and its own beautifully maintained gardens. The pool is fantastic and the pool house with its darts board and giant Jenga was a huge success! We ended up spending most of our days there enjoying the peace and tranquillity! If you want to explore, the River Dordogne and many delightful towns and villages are within easy reach. Jan and Jim are only too happy to advise on the local area and to book anything from canoing to restaurants!
We highly recommend this property - thank you again to Jan and Jim for such a lovely, relaxing holiday. We'll see you next year!

The old stone barn has been restored very thoughtfully with all the modern amenities you need to make this a perfect holiday home. It's spacious & bright with stunning views. Location is rural but everything is a short drive away. Propert is also very well maintained, practically brand new!. Added bonus is all bedrooms have ensuite bath/showers, and trust me, is a real treasure fine.

Jim & Jan are the most gracious & welcoming host who can expect. They really go all their way to make your stay comfortable which makes this property really special.
Highly recomend this to anyone looking to be in the region.

Firstly I would like to thank Jim & Jan for a fantastic time whilst we were in France for or honeymoon. They instantly made us feel welcome and couldn’t help us out enough if we had any questions on the area. The accommodation itself has been restored to a very high standard and has a very cosy feeling. The positioning of the property is second to none. It was a pleasure to wake up every morning, open the doors of the property and be surrounded by vineyards. The property is ideally located for all the daily markets and you are in a 40 minute radius of some of the finest wine producers in the world. Thinking about it, I should be writing a terrible review so that we can keep one of favourite holiday destinations a secret but…………Thanks again Jim & Jan. We are looking forward to returning next year.

P.s if you are looking to get on Jim’s good side then take him a couple of bottles of Adnam’s bitter as he cannot get it in France!
