Lynwood Cottage

Gill & Ossie Derby
Review Submitted: October 13, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We have been to Cornwall many times over the years but our stay at Lynwood Cottage was one of the best. The cottage was very well equipped, well maintained and decorated, cosy and comfortable. The welcome pack was excellent and immediately made us feel at home.
We found the Cottage convenient enough to be able to leave the car and walk into Mousehole, and along the coastal paths although you need plenty of puff for the climb back up to the cottage.
We enjoyed walking along the coast paths and visiting the beaches at Sennen and Porth Curno and St.Ives.
There are now excellent restaurants in Mousehole.
We would definitely recommend Lynwood Cottage.

Mousehole Cottage

From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. A basket of goodies including treats for the dogs awaited us and a friendly note from the owners. Very well set up and clean, the property is just as described only more homely with a lovely wood burning stove and well appointed kitchen. Comfortable too with two good sofas, tv, wifi. Basically all mod cons. It works brilliantly as a place to be and as a base for exploring the awesomely beautiful peninsula. The region is rightly renowned for its culture and there are galleries, museums and classy gift shops aplenty. Alongside that is the landscape which is dramatic, challenging and life enhancing. The climate allows for all sorts of tropical planting which adds to the sense of being somewhere very foreign. At the same time we enjoyed the sense of being located somewhere very specific with its own character and enjoyed the local farmer's market, the male voice choir in the local church at Paul and the dog friendly pubs. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to friends and will savour our trip over the longer term.

Beautiful Cottage in Mousehole

Val & Honey Upminster, Essex
Review Submitted: August 24, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Beautiful cottage where owners have put lots of nice little touches (ie beach towels, dvds, sky, extensive library of books) plus a very appreciated welcome pack of scones, jam & clotted cream upon arrival. Brilliant quiet location (neighbours & locals are very friendly) just a few minutes stroll to harbour which has several restaurants, fish & chip shop, art galleries, pub etc. Local attractions Geevor Mine, St Michael's Mount, Portleven and Roskilly's Ice Cream Farm well worth a visit by car.
There is a frequent bus service which takes you into Penzance if you prefer a bit of nightlife. Great for walkers who wish to do the SW coastal path. Thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone what more can I say!!!

When we arrived we were greeted with a welcome basket which was a welcome surprise.

The cottage was tastefully decorated, clean and well equipped.

Mousehole is a lovely village and in a great location for exploring this part of Cornwall. There are lovely beaches nearby as well as other places of interest if the weather isn't so good.

We had a great holiday there and would thoroughly recommend it, especially for young children.

A wonderful relaxing break

Lynwood cottage was a welcoming and charming place to stay for our holiday in Cornwall. The cottage was clean, bright and generally very well equipped, despite being very compact. It was great to be able to have the dogs with us downstairs. The welcome basket of food was delicious after the long drive -especially the scones and clotted cream. Being able to order some meals for the fridge/freezer was also very handy. The owners were friendly and helpful. Mousehole is a few min walk down the hill from the cottage. It is a quaint little place with several brilliant restaurants and lovely walks. There are plenty of fantastic beaches and things to do close by...we didn't drive for more than 30min for the whole week and were all happily occupied including grandparents and young child.

Delightful Cornish Cottage

Review Submitted: April 18, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
This is probably one of the most charming cottages we have stayed in, anywhere. The attention to detail is rare; from the welcome basket filled with local goodies to the comfortable beds and immaculate kitchen. Every appliance has been thoughtfully placed for your well-being. The conservatory is perfect to dine under the stars or picnic in rustic style. The cottage is in a perfect location - a pleasant walk to the harbour or to any of the delightful restaurants in the village. The camellia-filled garden ensures privacy while you enjoy the Cornish sunshine. It is a treat. We felt sad to leave. FG

Excellent Cottage, Thoughtful Owners

Review Submitted: March 17, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We (couple plus toddler) had a superb early spring holiday at Lynwood Cottage. Mousehole was a great location both for its local activities and for its convenience for the whole of the west Cornwall area. The village has excellent resaurants/tea shops, its own little beach in the harbour and basic village services. The coast path to the west is rugged and spectacular - there is a great loop walk from the cottage which avoids roads for all but the last section into the village. Unfortunately a week was too short to try everything but we would recommend the Cornwall Range restaurant (early diners menu is particularly good value and the food/service was superb) and Porthcurno Beach (about 10-15 mins drive). The Lands End experience would be one to avoid however - the coast walk past Lands End is beautiful but the theme park is poor value and disappointing).

As for the cottage itself it was without question the best appointed holiday rental we have had. The excellent welcome hamper is only the most obvious of the many thoughtful touches that the owners have added. From towels and soap to loo roll and washing powder all the things you normally forget were there from the start. The accommodation was excellent - the bedrooms are snug as you would expect for a cottage but ample and the beds comfortable. Also importantly the cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived - even my very fussy wife could find no fault!

All in all an excellent stay and we have already told our friends and family.

Character cottage, great location

Lovely, very clean and well equipped cottage in a very convenient location. A bit cold on arrival in February, but soon warmed up and became comfortable. Even at that time of year we had pleasure dining in the conservatory beneath the stars and other evenings were able to walk to a choice of pubs and restaurants in the vicinity. We particularly enjoyed being so close to the coast path and being able to walk directly from the cottage and our dog said it was the best holiday he had ever had!

Indian Summer in Cornwall

Review Submitted: January 19, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
We had a wonderful week in Mousehole. We were greeted with a very well stocked welcome basket including scones, clotted cream and lovely wine. We also had a well stocked freezer - we had ordered some of Phay's delicious home made food - it is so great not to have to worry about food when you're on holiday. The cottage was very comfortable and warm and it had everything you could possibly need - well stocked kitchen, very comfortable sofas and beds and a beautiful garden to catch those rays. It was a real home from home. The cottage is a couple of minutes walk from the centre. There is a very child friendly beach, some good places to eat and drink and some shops selling the basics. Mousehole is a very pretty and friendly place and is very well positioned to visit other areas. There is lots to do for all the family. Swimming, surfing or building sandcastles on the many beautiful beaches nearby. There are countless walks to explore the moors or around the National Trust gardens and there are lovely places to eat, especially if you want to sample the fresh fish. We had a wonderful time - the weather was fantastic which always helps but mostly we felt really looked after by the couple who run the cottage. Many thanks, we are definately booking again.
Owner's Response: Delighted people had a lovely time, its nice to see another review confirming everything we thought about Mousehole when we first visited. There is so much to do in the area, which fortunately makes Lynwood Cottage an ideal base from which to explore at any time of the year.

November holiday at Lynwood Cottage

S12345 Sussex
Review Submitted: January 15, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
My husband, my daughter, my dogs and I all loved our time at Lynwood Cottage. We spent 2 weeks there in Oct/Nov so it was a real test, although we had better weather than we expected, there were still some cold damp days when we needed a comfortable warm house - and we loved the wood burner and cosyness of the cottage.

The welcome was wonderful, we were greeted with a basket of local goodies AND a biscuit for the dogs!

The house was uncluttered and clean and the kitchen is the best equipped kitchen you will find in a rental property.

Mousehole is a perfect place for our little family to visit. The house is close enough to the harbour and shops so our 20 month old daughter could walk there without any trouble. We loved just walking around the town nosing in the gift shops and having the odd beer in the pub!

We visited many lovely places. Our favourte being Sennen beach where we went a few times for a beach side lunch in the lovely Cafe there.

We spent a morning at St Micheal's Mount and the dogs loved the shallow water on the beach.

There is lots to do, many beautiful beaches to visit and the walks along the coastal paths are unmissable.

Thank you Phay and Jonathan for a memorable stay and we will see you again in May!
Owner's Response: We are very keen to provide holidays for families including their pets. The private and fully enclosed garden allows both children and dogs to play safely and weather permitting a perfect place for BBQ. Delighted that more people are now exploring the wonderful coastal walks, they really are spectacular.
