We're all off to sunny Spain!

Casa Vinuela review Hastings, East Sussex
Review Submitted: July 7, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
23rd June to 3rd July 2009

We arrived at Casa Vinuela at approx 6.30pm. Dawn was there waiting to greet us with the air con on and welcome pack (including the requested baby food and pizza). What a gem. We had a fabulous ten days, the weather was hot, hot, hot and the views stunning. Im embarressed to say that we stayed very close to the villa, venturing out only to Torre del Mar for the market (Thursday mornings) and the wonderful Eroski to stock up on food. The rest of our time was spent sunning ourselves, reading and sleeping. This was our first time at renting a holiday villa and the whole experience was pretty smooth. The owners were prompt with paperwork etc and the caretakers very helpful both prior to and during our visit. The villa has just about everything you could need or want. Our youngest child was 14 months old at the time of travel and I was a little concerned that I wouldnt have the things I needed for her but all was well. The only thing I would say is that the chippings around the pool are not kind to little toes and the paving gets very hot so make sure you have flip flops near and if you have a trainee escapologist in your party then beware that a determined small head and shoulders can get through the upper balustrades!

One last thing - the only unplanned journey my husband undertook was to Competa (wont bore you with the details as to why!) and satnav took him the mountinous route there. Avoid this if you have a nervous disposition or a fear of heights as it is apparently comparable to the Stelvio in parts and there is no barrier at all!

Owner's Response: We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. Flip flops, what an excellent idea! Your feedback has prompted us to include these in our recommended things to bring - the summer months do tend to be hot under bare feet!

Great Villa

Review Submitted: November 4, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
This is a loverly villa with the most fantastic views. I have 2 small boys but found the villa easy to manange safely, with stair gates in all the right places. The heated pool is an real plus, especially if you go out of season like us. Dawn and David will sort any issues should they arise, and give you a good insight to the local hot spots.

Owner's Response: Great to hear that you found the villa the perfect place to escape to the sun, especially after such a disappointing summer back home.

MAGNIFICENT HOLIDAYS

jeanmi France Paris
Review Submitted: August 11, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We rented the villa with another couple and 3 children, we spent an excellent stay, the description of the villa on the site is as before of the reality, a magnificent villa with a magnificent sight on the lake. Nothing in the house is missing and the reception is made by a couple of guard who was present even at 11 am in the evening.
We recommend this villa for people who want to rest(base), noiselessly nor polution. We give an appreciation of 18/20 Famille chalon from France

You have a really lovely villa. We all enjoyed staying there very much.
Having the bathroom towels and the beach towels provided was a godsend and the welcome pack of food was a lovely touch.
Everything was clean and tidy and the villa is spacious. I would definitely recommend Casa Vinuela.

Fabulous Villa Lovely Location

Baggo Liverpool, UK
Review Submitted: July 4, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
A fabulous villa with absolutely everything you could need. The location is stunnng, overlooking the emerald green lake and mountains all around, its set in its own piece of heavenly solitude but close enough to shops bars & supermarkets. The weather was fantastic and so the pool came into its own along with the fridge with its cold beer and the outside bbq. We had absolutley no complaints about the villa and Dawn & Dave who greeted us couldn't have been more helpful. We were so chilled out by the end of the week we could barely stay awake. We'd highly recommend this villa.

Beautiful Location

Bach St Albans, Herts, UK
Review Submitted: June 10, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
The location of Casa Vinuela would be hard to beat. With panoramic views of the mountains and the reservoir in the valley below the sighting of this villa would be hard to beat. The villa itself is comprehensively equipped but there are some downsides. The hot water system is run through a combi boiler but the showers lack thermostats so the supply of hot water to the showers can prove challenging. The shower cubicles are so small that it's very difficult to wash properly in them. If you drop the soap you'll have to turn off the shower and open the door to retrieve it, there isn't enough room to bend down and pick it up! The bedrooms are cramped.

Running the pool heater during the week we stayed didn't seem to have very much effect on the temperature of the pool water. The garden surrounding the pool area is covered with granite chippings and this includes areas where sunbeds are placed.

In the past we've rented some far better villas but none with such a magnificent setting.

Owner's Response: We appreciate the feedback regarding the splendid setting and location of Casa Vinuela, other however we must respond to the other issues raised.
• Pool temperature --Setting the pool heater to operate for longer periods was offered by our local management but declined. Guests also ignored the recommendation to use the pool cover at night although this is essential at this time of year to conserve heat.
• Pool area --There is an extensive paved area around the pool for placing sun beds if required. We have considered extending the paved area but many guests like the current arrangement of the outdoor space.
• Hot water -- Guest are instructed on how best to use the hot water system. In this part of Spain it is unusual to find thermostatic showers installed due to water pressure difficulties. Feedback comments from previous guests included “very impressed by the facilities, equipment and amount of hot water available”.
• Shower cubicles --In the villa these are standard size and people are obviously different sizes. Even we would find it challenging to pick up dropped soap in all but a double shower cubicle.
• Bedrooms -- It is a fact that Spanish villas are built to reflect the outdoor life and bedrooms are often functional. The bedrooms average 10’ 3” square including wardrobes. Previous guests have commented positively on the larger than expected living areas.
