A week was too short

I would just like to echo what others have said in reviews of Cascada. Beautiful house, fantastic views. The charming thing is that the house has a rambling, lived-in feel, unlike some purely rental properties. Boz was extremely helpful before and during our time there.

A Fantastic holiday

Review Submitted: August 13, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have just returned from a two week stay at Villa Cascada. We loved it!!! We dealt with Boz prior to the holiday and always found him very helpfull and this continued during the holiday itself. The Villa is beautiful, the countryside lovely and the views from the villa are to die for!! I so enjoyed my cup of tea every morning on the verandah and many evenings enjoying a malibu and coke and playing cards whilst the sun went down. It was also lovely lounging by the pool and again having fantastic views out to Nerja. The village of Frigliana again is lovely and it was so nice to experience a bit of the 'real Spain' with no English bars!! We always found the local shopkeepers to be most helpfull. We managed to walk to the remains of the castle at the top of Frigliana. One hell of a hike (I thought I would need oxygen) but well worth it when we got there for the views!! We also tried the Coracoles restaurant and would thoroughly recommend it. The food was gorgeous and the service outstanding. As well as also having fantastic views. We could not fault our stay in any way. As others before have commented on, the last bit of the journey to the villa is a bit precarious, to the point that I thought I would not be leaving the Villa again until the day of departure!! However needs must and food and drink was beckoning and I have to confess that we soon got used to it. Thank you to Lynne and Paco for lending us your home and to Boz and Polly for all the info you gave us prior to the holiday and on arrival.

Paradise!

Ustwo Hampstead, London
Review Submitted: July 27, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
The photographs on the website failed to capture this sprawling, beautiful and decadant villa in full glory:

An imposing Spanish building, the villa sits on the lip of an emerald valley between the Andalucian mountains and the sea, completely detached and blissfully private. The pool, the main joy of the villa, juts out of the mountain giving panoramic views of the area, as far as the eye can see.

We, two burnt-out media twenty-somethings, fled here from London for a week of relaxation, and found the villa delightfully too large and impressive for our needs. The house just kept on giving- a music room, a library, a Moroccan courtyard that was completely superfluous. There were mezzanine levels upon mezzanine levels and so much of the house to enjoy we barely ventured further than Frigliana, which is charming and mercifully scant of Chelsea shirts and sunburnt cockneys. Although should you require sambuca and swearing, neighbouring Nerja can accomodate you.

Polly was wonderful and even bought us a brand new hairdryer. The property was beyond our expectations, and dare we say a bargain for the money, for fear of them rising the rent (we'd love to return next year). If you do go, we recommend the 'snail' shaped Carocoles restaurant on the way up the mountain.

Thank you Boz and Polly for a wonderful stay.

Villa with Charm & Character

Review Submitted: June 21, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Having just spent a week at Villa Cascada we were absolutely thrilled with the experience and didn't want to leave - we certainly hope to return. The villa has an abundance of charm and character and is in a stunning location. It is spacious and has a real homely feel to it. If you want peace and quiet and total privacy then this villa is for you.
It is 15 mins from Frigiliana along the mountain road to Torrox and it does have a single track road for the last 400m which is an expereince at first but you soon get used to it.There are fantastic views from the villa in all directions.
The couple who manage it (Boz and Polly) provide excellent communication and help both before the holiday starts and after you arrive.

My husband and I have just returned from Villa Cascada and we have had a wonderful stay and enjoyed every minute. This was our second holiday in this area and we highly recommend it. It has remained one of our favourite places to visit and we plan to return again and again.

Villa Cascada is nestled up in the hills and is more than ample for a couple or family. Out of every window there is a stunning view and peace and tranquility. The villa is well equipped and comfortable and exactly as the description says full of character and space.

The only downside, other than having to return home, is the track going down to the house, which can be a little bit like "living on the edge" at times, but after a couple of days you soon get used to it, so good to be aware of but don't let it put you off!

Highly recommended.

We visited Villa cascada in April 09 the photos in the advertisement do not do it justice it is a very pretty villa with lots of traditional details and a joy to stay in. it is well kept and our holiday was a joy from the moment we met Boz he showed us to the villa and went through everything we needed to know including where to do the best shopping. The village is delightfull and the people very friendly with lots of very good restrauants. a good phrase book is an advantage as some of the locals do not speak english. would we go again YOU BET we would.

Verblijf in Villa Cascada Frigiliana mrt/apr 2009

Hallo,

Fabulous retreat with amazing views

Review Submitted: September 29, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
I decided to take my parents on holiday to make up for the 50 odd years of disappointment I must have been to them. My wife came too to keep the peace! Villa Cascada was chosen because we thought (hoped) it would provide a restful and beautiful holiday. We were wrong - it was so much better than we could possibly have imagined and we felt at home within minutes of our arrival. Everything was simply perfect and I cannot rate this villa highly enough. The track from the main road is concrete and ok - we've driven over far worse - and there is ample parking behind a gate at the villa. The Villa itself is huge and no description here can possibly do it justice. Suffice to say you will spend each day wondering where you want to spend it - many terraces, the pool, the music room, the library? And the two en-suite bedrooms are a delight with the tower bedroom giving views to die for. The pool is perfect and again with stunning views. And because of the proximity of the natural park (and Acebuchal around the corner - not to be missed with one of the regions best restaurants) we renamed the are eagle city. If you want a fine restaurant then just three minutes away is Los Caracoles - fabulous. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need including a range of herbs and spices etc. Visit Cascada and have a ball!!!

Fabulous holiday villa

The photographs of this villa hardly do it justice. The location, in the middle of the mountains about 15-20 mins drive from Frigiliana was perfect. The only downside was the winding road full of potholes and the 400yd track leading down to the villa. This was particularly scary, initially, but we did get used to it! The villa itself is huge, despite only having 2 bedrooms and although the kitchen is small, it is more than adequate. Much of the villa is obviously old and the rooms were cool despite the 30+ temperature outside (at the end of June!) It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The decor and furnishings are delightful. The views from the terrace and indeed the picture windowed dining room are spectacular: mountains, a few villas and Frigiliana and the sea in the distance. Our peace was only disturbed by goats' bells and the occasional dog barking in the distance. Swimming in the warm pool with the mountains in the background was beautiful. On the one day that it was windy, we were able to have our BBQ in the Moroccan courtyard, which is totally sheltered and beautiful. Boz, who looks after the property always answered his phone if we called - usually to help arrange a taxi when the English speaking taxi driver was unavailable! It was well worth the €30 round trip to be able to have a drink and not drive on these roads! We visited 2 restaurants in Frigiliana and would particularly recommend the one in the church square. The village/town was unpretentious and friendly although the old town is cobbled and hilly so perhaps not suitable if disabled without assistance. I would not recommend the villa for very young children or pets, purely due to the sparse railings around the pool and the low walls on the terraces which lead to a steep drop. However, couples and those with older children looking for a peaceful location with excellent amenities should love this villa. It would not be suitable for those wanting a night life unless they are prepared to travel to Nerja about 10 - 15 mins drive beyond Frigiliana. We visited with our 21 year old daughter who is recovering from an illness and she had a wonderful holiday. Although it is secluded, sights such as Granada are about 11/2 hrs drive away - but it was well worth the visit! Malaga is about 50 minutes. Do, however, allow at least 2 hours for your return to the airport on a Sat if you are travelling in high season as the traffic is very congested.
