Lime Villa Great not matched by the Cricket

Review Submitted: April 8, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Lime Villa is really wonderful home and gardens and a very welcoming pool, all the bedrooms were very comfortable and we liked the big bed in the master bedroom, better than the pictures look.Rest of the house is of a similar high standard. Yvette the maid was superb and cooked us a traditional Barbadian meal. The arrangements for cleaning of house and pool went perfectly by helpful people.
Holetown sutable for all age groups our single 20's loved the nights in the town.
Hired a car would be helpful but the buses run regularly and are an experience that should be tried.
Go to one of the fish markets and buy a Dophin Fish an education just watching them gut and bone it, and when cooked at home the taste is excellent.
All in all a good holiday and helped by the friendly nature of all the Barbadian people.
Will be back when England are ther for the Cricket!!!

Owner's Response: Glad to hear these guests had a great time despite the poor England performance at cricket.
Always welcome back any time.

A Calm Tropical Oasis in Barbados

Review Submitted: August 17, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We recently spent two wonderful weeks at Lime Villa. The pool is brilliant, the children aged 14 &12 and the adults (5) used it constantly. All the bedrooms were spacious, especially the master bedroom. They were all exceptionally clean and prepared for us with clean towels and linen changed regularly. The airconditioning and ceiling fans in the bedrooms were very efficient. The area around the villa is quiet and residential and we felt very safe whilst in the villa, however it is very close to all the amenities of the West coast, Holetown is only minutes away by car, where the major supermarket is, together with petrol station, dvd hire, pizza and KFC,together with lots of lovely local restaurants.Angry Annies, The Fishpot, Just Grillin' and The Beach house were all visited and were good. We would recommend a car for a stay at this villa.

As a family we stay in a villa for most of our holidays. This villa was by far the best we have stayed in. The pool is large and well maintained. The maid is a joy to meet and works so hard when she comes to clean the villa.

It is located in a very good position for several beaches - all very good and easy to find.

Although we ate out most of our holiday the kitchen is well equipped, we did not need anything that was not provided. Only thing, if you have females in your family - take your own hair dryer, which will work, as there are transformers all over the place.

Barbados is a relatively small island packed full of restaurants and bars. However, I think a car is needed to get the most out of the island.

Great villa and location

We stayed at the Lime villa for 12 nights Feb/March, and we were not disappointed in the slightest , the location was spot on too, nice and quiet but not too far from Holetown. the pool was spotless and the gardens well looked after. The communication between myself and david during the booking and my further enquiries was excellent too, and i would not hesitate in recommending the villa to anyone.

Owner's Response: Pat and the lads had a super time, enjoying Englands test cricket match during their stay. Yvette our housekeeper enjoyed their company and was sorry to see them all leave .
We look forward to welcome them all back, perhaps next time England are in Barbados, which should be Mar/April 2010 for the world twenty/20 championships.
Thanks to Pat and all the lads, were glad you enjoyed your stay in Barbados and Lime Villa. Thanks for looking after the villa so well during your stay.

lime Villa holiday March 2009

Review Submitted: March 29, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Agroup of seven of us [adults]have just returned from a two week holiday at Lime Villa where we had a fantasti time.the villa is very spacious, well decorated, the beds are extremely comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped to enable you to prepare any meal you may wish, and the pool was the icing on the cake. What was slightly annoying was that on the couple of days we spent around the pool we were subjected to noise from the building of a couple of villas nearby.I suspect this is no longer a problem as they were almost completed when we were leaving.Yvette was an absolute treasure.
Give the Surfside restaurant a miss--we waited an hour and a half for our meal, and then it wasnt anything special.A catamaran trip to swim with turtles,Frday night at Oistins are both well worthwhile.Use yellow buses to travel around--its certainly an experience you will not forget.
All the peple involved in the running of the villa have been very helpful, and if we were to return to Barbados we would certainly stay in Lime Villa.I would have no problem at all in recommending this villa to any friends.

Owner's Response: I am happy that these guests enjoyed their time at Lime Villa.
I am sorry that the completion of two nearby villas disturbed the visitors, and am equally happy that it seems they are now completed.
I look forward to welcoming them all back in the future.

We are due out to Lime Villa shortly and I will pass on all the praise and kind comments to all of the people who help us, to ensure that all our guests stays are enhanced with an extra special Bajan welcome.
I am reassured that Lime Villa is good rental accomodation as in all our reviews we have always received a 5/5 rating.

Just returned from a terrific week at the Lime Villa and first trip to Barbados. Ours was a business rewards trip for key managers in my company. The owner David went above and beyond in setting us up with transportation and best of all arranging contact with the local cycling club. We were met by about 30 local cyclists for a 55 mile bike ride of the island. Yvette was terrific, including we hired her for a home cooked delicious Bajan meal. There is some construction going on near the villa but we were out and about during the day minimizing it's impact. The home itself is nicely located, very clean and spacious. The pool was fantastic and used a lot. All in all a perfectly sweet spot.

Owner's Response: Mike and his team really enjoyed themselves and the Villa.
Broadband Internet means you can keep in touch with business or family back home.
We will always try to accomodate any special requests and interests that our guests have.
Just ask, chances are that we can arrange contacts for whatever activity, cycling, diving, fishing, golf, cricket, football, hockey, sightseeing, cruises.... etc, etc.

A thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a lovely villa.

Review Submitted: September 17, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Spent two weeks at Lime Villa with my family during August and had an excellent time. Everything written about the Villa here on the page is spot on.

Everything from the friendly welcome from Yvette to the space, quality, cleanliness and comfort of the property exceeded our high expectations.

The pool is a real treat; big, cooling and very well maintained - my two kids would have spent the whole fortnight in the pool given a chance.

This Villa is located in a quiet residential area but close to all the key amenities and some great beaches and restaurants (Lone Star, Cliff and Sitaa Indian our favourites). The local supermarket is well stocked.

Although you can get by with using taxis we opted for a hire car and explored the island and found some really nice places.

The only slight negative was the absence of a/c downstairs which made evenings in a bit warm! Having said that we did visit during a period of high humidity and with so much to do for evenings out staying in is not essential.

Anyone looking for a quiet but convenient location for a relaxing holiday will have to look very hard to find a better villa than this.

Owner's Response: I am glad to see another satisfied family at Lime Villa.
I note the comment re airconditioning however the house is blessed with very strong cooling breezes and is fully open plan.
If the evening gets hot, the house is easily and quickly aired by opening the front and rear double doors and allowing the breezes to blow through.
The living space also benefits from two large ceiling fans.
I must admit that I hardly spend any time indoors when we are at the villa. It is far more romantic and relaxing to dine under the stars, on the patios, or to enjoy drinks and a barbeque around the lit swimming pool.

Barbados April 2008

Review Submitted: September 4, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
Having been a few years since our last visit to Barbados and the first time that we had stayed on the West Coast we were a little apprehensive on what we would find. Harold the driver was waiting for us as we walked through Grantley arrivals after a somewhat hot and extended passport control experience which wasn't helped by the fact our plane arrived an hour late just behind a Virgin double decker from Heathrow. It appeared that Harold was taking us on the scenic route to the villa as he drove across the island but we later found out it was to avoid the roadworks that were on the main Highway and which in the next couple of weeks seemed to expand. However 40 minutes later we had arrived at Lime Villa and were greeted by Yvette who quickly ushered us inside out of the heat. She gave us a quick tour and we were very pleased with what we saw. As we had been unable to access the supermarket website successfully I asked Harold if he would mind asking me to the supermarket to get in a few essentials while Shirley and Anna took on the task of unpacking. The supermarket was well stocked and 30 minutes later so was the fridge with beer, rum punch and the odd bit of food.
The villa was well laid out and the bedrooms were tastefully decorated and of ample size. It seemed a pity that there were only 3 of us as this villa would really suit a larger family or group of friends. The loung area was again well set out although we did have trouble with the TV which wasn't working but hey we were here to sit in the sun not sit inside. As far as I was concerned the biggest selling point of Lime Villa was the very impressive swimming pool which on all the villas we looked at was the biggest we could find and meant that you were able to get in a good swim if you wanted to. One minor point of criticism would have to be the condition of the loungers and cushions which looked like that they had been left outside quite a while so it took a while to cleam them but then we made sure thay were brought in each night.
Top 10 restaurant recommendations.
1 The Tides absolutely fabulous
2 Lonestar
3 Pisces
4The Cliff fantastic setting but very expensive
5 La Mer (feed the fish in the lagoon)
6 Josefs
7 Cocomos
8 Daphnes
9Calabaza
10 The restaurant at Southsea.
Groots ok for a drink but food a bit patchy.

If you do book a stay at Lime Villa then you will enjoy it and if you need a taxi look for Winston in the visitors book as he is what all taxi drivers should be like

Owner's Response: I am glad to see that you enjoyed Lime Villa and all it has to offer.
I am also very happy to report that we arrived as you left and despite not knowing that you had experienced the problems noted above, the first two jobs during that stay were replacement of all the lounger cushions with new 6" deep luxury weatherproof cushions and installation of a new TV aerial.
I apologise for the state of the cushions whist you were there, but they were supossed to be removed, cleaned and stored away, between guests but they almost certainly had been left out, and although they were brand new the year before, they had wethered terribly.
I only hope that the new and "very expensive" but extremely soft and comfortable weatherproof cushions will wear much better and will be cleaned and stored away between guests (as we have requested).

I am pleased to report TV reception is now perfect and the picture does not scatter as before.

I too do not enjoy Harold meandering tour, but always manage to get lost if I try to go that way, to avoid the roadworks on the highway.
Harold is a real asset to the Villa and I can assure you that the route taken is actually the quickest (until the Highway updates are completed).

The supermarkets secure payment server, seems to dislike international payments, It is possible to select a Cash on Delivery option but remember to ensure you will be at Villa with local currency by delivery time chosen.
If all else fails call the store and they may arrange delivery or collection that you can go down and pay for, once you have arrived in Barbados. They have done this for me in the pst when having an international payment card issue.

Thank you for your comments and your 5/5 rating we hope we might welcome you back in the future.

Lovely and relaxing

Review Submitted: August 17, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We arrived at Lime Villa, a little tired but excited, we were met by Yvette, who showed us around and gave us a quick run down on how things worked.
Then promptly jumped into the pool....
The Villa was clean and tidy, well furnished and comfortable. We had some shopping delivered before we arrived which was good as the supermarket is in Holetown and is a bit of a walk. But they do have a free courtesy shuttle bus back, so no need to carry shopping.
The nearest beach is quiet but beautiful, but we tended to go to Holetown and visit the beach behind the police station. This has a bar restaurant and a steel band on Sunday eve.
Although there are always taxis available I would recomend hiring a car, as the villa is located 2 Kilometers from the supermarket and shops in Holetown and walking at night is a bit dodgy on the winding roads, this also gave us the advantage of being able to explore Barbados at our leisure.
Surfside bar is excellent value for money and most of the traders are very friendly and will talk to you forever even if you dont buy anything.
We visited the nature reserve and watched the monkeys feeding and the tortoises being "busy",
We tried Jet skis, great fun,
Malibu Factory and beach was a good day out even though it rained,
All in all we had great time and would deffinately return to Lime Villa for another holiday.

Owner's Response: I would recommend that a car is hired as Barbados has so many things to see and enjoy. A trip to the dramatic East Coast to see the Atlantic side of Barbados is spectacular.

However if you are looking to just relax around the pool and visit only the nearby beaches and the occasional restaurant, it is worth considering using Taxis for the few journeys you might make. Taxis are reasonable, reliable and the drivers make excellent tour guides and you will see sights you might never discover driving yourself in a hired car.

Car hire is best arranged prior to making the trip especially at peak times , Christmas, Easter, CropOver as the Island has limited availability at these times.

The beach at Holetown is nice and has bars and restaurants but also try to get to some of the quieter beaches, such as Gibbs Beach or Bottom Bay and you will believe that you are really on "Robinson Crusoes Island".

Lime Villa, Barbados

Review Submitted: August 5, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We had a fabulous time at Lime Villa. The Villa, garden and the pool were all maintained well. The rooms had a lovely open, bright outlook with comfortable furnishing. The housekeeper, Yvette, visited on a regular basis and looked after us extremely well.
Although there is an excellent local bus service a car would be beneficial for sightseeing.
The beech is a 10 minute walk away and offers a good variety of water sports.
The majority of people are extremely polite and friendly with a welcoming attitude.

Owner's Response: I am glad these guests had a great time, Car Rental and Guided sightseeing tours are available if required.
Its great to see all our guests seem to love Yvette our housekeeper.
