Comfortable Place for Discovering Granada

Woffa Bonn, Germany
Review Submitted: January 13, 2009 Date of Stay:
Discription regarding layout and facilities accurate; kitchen equipment modern and complete, living room comfortable and well fitted with Television, Video, audio, and books. Bedrooms and bathrooms including sheets and towels in very good shape; one single bed somewhat hard. Property was well-maintained and perfectly clean; heating functioned well keeping the place cosy during rainy and somewhat colder days. Discription regarding nearby food shops only partly up to date. Place is easily accessible by car; distance from down-town city centre only 25 minutes walk on foot right through Albayzin or 20 minutes by bus from nearby bus stop (operating about every 7 minutes between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.). Visits of Alhambra, Cathedral, Royal Chapel, Hieronymus Monastery and La Cartuja Monastery as well as Sierra Nevada Mountains region recommended, visit of tapa bar "Taberna Grande" at Plaza Nueva is a must. Very good food served at "Tendido 1" Restaurant in Plaza de Toros. Renting price of property well justified.

Cosy Granada house

Kaylee W. Rinteln, Germany
Review Submitted: September 22, 2008 Date of Stay:
We loved to stay in this beautiful house which is so well equipped (kitchen stuff, travelling information, books, etc.) and very comfortable. The patio with its large table and parasol was a great place for our extended breakfasts. Granadas historical Albaycin quarter is in walking distance (10-15 minutes), so getting home for siesta was feasible.

Our holiday in Albayzin

Sirkka Helsinki, Finland
Review Submitted: September 8, 2008 Date of Stay:
We spent almost a week in July in this lovely house in Albayzin. The house is fursnished with a good taste and was nice and cosy. F.ex. exhaustive dinner set and Hi-Fi equipment which was important for our youngest child. There was a handy instruction manual of the house and surroundings which was very helpful. When reservering our holiday, the lady of the house was very helpful and everything went excellently. July is very hot month in Spain, at least for us Finns, but now we´re already longing for another vacation in Granada. We recommend the house warmly.

Casa Mia

deepatti Norfolk UK
Review Submitted: August 23, 2008 Date of Stay:
My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home from home. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to ensure a carefree holiday. As we arrived late on Saturday evening we especially appreciated the groceries and wine that were left for us. As for the location we found it peaceful and loved being in such a pretty residential area rather than a typical tourist spot. We also loved being able to stroll down to the city centre through the enchanting Albayzin where we had some lovely meals in it's many restaurants. Some are expensive but many very affordable with great authentic food. A trip to the Alhambra is a must. We hired a car and drove up to the ski resort in the Sierra Nevada, not too busy at that time of year and with fabulous views and wonderful fresh air. We also drove some way into the Alpujarra with it's pretty villages. All in all we felt that casa mia was a great base for exploring the area on foot and/or by car. A holiday to be remembered, we will definately be coming back.

The house was clean. We had problems ............

Review Submitted: June 26, 2008 Date of Stay:
The house was clean. We had problems getting to the property. We hired a car from the airport as we wished to drive to the Sierra Nevada during out stay. We tried following the instructions given by the owners, however, in the end we had to hire a taxi to drive in front of us and show us the way. Unfortunately the taxi driver knew the vicinity, but not where the house was and left us on a side road. Fortunately, a very kind Spanish gentleman was able to show us where the property was which was a relief as it was 10.00pm by the time the taxi driver got us to the vicinity and we were getting slightly worried about not find the property at all! It was interesting to note in the guest book that it took one taxi driver 2 hours to find the property rather than the 30 minutes it should take to get there!

The only issues with the house were that there was no steel blind in one double bedroom with only flimsy curtains at the window which meant the street lights outside made the room very light and difficult to sleep and be prepared for the noise of people talking outside and from next door. The walls are very thin and we could still hear them at midnight. We also tried contacting the House Manager on several occasions to confirm our arrival (as requested) and to try and ask a few questions, but nobody ever answered the telephone.

The property could also do with better maps of the area. The Albayzin is a labyrinth of small roads and you could easily get lost. We did manage to find our way around with a basic map we picked up from the airport until we could find a shop with a better map.

Although we had a good time in Granada (it is well worth the trip to the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada) I would think twice about recommending this property. It is out of the way at the top of a very steep hill which was okay for me and my husband, but more tiring for my parents who are in their sixties with bad knee joints!

Excellent accommodation, great location

Tas Brisbane, Australia
Review Submitted: June 24, 2008 Date of Stay:
Casa Mina is a very nice spacious modern house, in a quiet location, and there is a local supermarket for food and drink.

You can easily walk to the old part of town and any number of restaurants.

The owner made the booking process efficient and pleasant, and the owner's representative at the property was very welcoming.

We drove to the house following the instructions provided by the owner, which were all we needed, though I recommend a map as well, just as in all European towns.

We had a lovely holiday in the beautiful city of granada, staying at casa mina .The house was spotlessley clean with all the facilities one could wish for.The house is ideally placed for exploring the albaycin on foot(the only way) and the little red buses can take you further afield so a car is not essential .The lady who looks after the property is very helpful and always replies to a phone call Ihave no hesitation in reccomending this property to anyone.

Home away from home!

Review Submitted: May 29, 2008 Date of Stay:
- Description of house & location was exactly what I expected. No supprises at all. Driving directions was clear & easy to follow.
- We were very happy with the house. It was in an quiet residential area. Very cosy & comfortable with all the amenties we need. Small supermarket was 3mins walk, very convenient.
- Walking around the moorish quarters was great fun and easy access to other places of interest via buses. Taxi back was reasonable.
- There was a notice board with lots of usuful information like restuarnts & bars in the kitchen. Very helpful!
- Only regret was how short our stay was. I will return to this property if I go back to the region, will definitely refer friends.
- 2 very minor issues: (i) drainage of one of the showers was a bit sluggish, left a note when I leave, guess it should be fixed by now. (ii) perhaps they can provide washing up sponges/scrubs and dishwisher detergent? Doesn't cost much & so much more convenient. We have to get it from the supermarket but we were only there for a few days.

Impressive location if able bodied but a long walk and steep climb from the centre of the city. Relaxing retreat after day's spent sightseeing.
Would have benefitted from directions in Spanish on arrival as taxi-driver had difficulty finding it.

Lovely House......

Review Submitted: May 27, 2008 Date of Stay:
We enjoyed a lovely time in Casa Mina at the end of April. The house was gorgeous exactly as described and spotlessly clean. There was a very helpful visitors book which explained how everything in the house worked and there was the number of an english lady you could ring if you had any problems. My only very slight reservation was the location as it was a bit further out than I expected. For a long weekend it was quite a long walk into town and then a bus or cab home. However, if we were staying for a week or longer I would definately stay again and use the house as a base to explore the surrounding area such as the mountains and other cities, instead of just Granada. Overall though it is a lovely spacious and well maintained house with lovely views, peaceful and quiet. I would recommend this house to anyone who wants a lovely base for exploring Andalucia.
