Superb Holiday

Review Submitted: May 17, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
The location of the gite is fantastic, set in a quiet rural location, but only a 10 minute walk from the restaurants and sights of Brantome. The gite is well maintained, spotless and extremely easy to live & relax in with everything necessary there and the large pool is great. Julia & Richard have a lovely discreet touch and were always available when we needed advice on where to go or eat. The area has lots of places to visit including Bourdeilles & Perigueux. All in all a superb place to stay, relax and explore the area.

The Real Test !

Jim & Jean Elgin,Scotland
Review Submitted: October 11, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We travelled 1200 miles by car from the north of Scotland to find Brantome and the 'Julia & Richard' experience. Despite arriving late and in the rain the welcome was as warm as the woodburning stove which Richard had lit. We are writing this review 2 weeks after our return and, for us, the real test is what is imprinted in the memory bank of our Brantome experience.
Cleanliness and comfort, a very well appointed kitchen and a very comfortable bed - not always guaranteed in self catering accommodation.
The balance between being rural yet within 20 mins walk of the village is in many ways ideal and Richard will give you directions to the footpath. The property is as described on the website and without doubt lived up to both our hopes and expectations.
What is not easy to describe in a brochure or website is the whole 'experience'. For us it was Richard and Julia that provided that extra value to our Brantome holiday. Available but discreet, the relationship grew as information was offered and advice sought.
This is an easy recommendation to other like minded people who look for that balance of quality, price, location and something a wee bit special.
Brantome is delightful and we used our bikes to explore the locality.
With a weak £ eating out was expensive and occasional but we enjoyed our own efforts with the local produce.

Excellent Gite with friendly and helpful owners .

Greg & Inez Norfolk, England
Review Submitted: September 13, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We had a brilliant week, temperatures 30+ in September. The gite is excellent with everything that is needed and more. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and barbecues in the garden, which has a pleasant rural outlook. The owners Julia and Richard are very friendly making you feel very welcome. Brantome is beautiful with many good restuarants; the pizzaria in the cave with the traditional wood fired was exceptional. We will miss Lulu the cat who adopted us during our stay and was always on hand to say hello and join in. 5 Stars

Exceptional level of customer service

Richard and Julia could not have been more helpful and even managed to squeeze in a 5th person into the Gite and were very accommodating to my demands.
I would recommend this gite as an excellent venue for a relaxing holiday with a high standard of accommodation.
If you are going to Brantome make sure that you get Richard to take you canoeing on the Dronne. He is an expert!

Beautiful Brantome gite

Chom Edinburgh
Review Submitted: June 2, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Right from the start, the owners, Richard and Julia, were incredibly kind, helpful and welcoming. The gite is beautifully decorated, well-equipped and comfortable, with the sort of thoughtful little extras - like tea, coffee, milk and juice already waiting for us - that make any holiday so much more easy and pleasant.
The locality is very pretty and the surrounding land just begs you to go for long walks - if you can tear yourself away from the stunning swimming pool.
Julia and Richard are honest about warning visitors that the pool is very deep, but with constant supervision - which any parent would do anyway - my three-year-old (and I) had a wonderful time in the shallows. It's unusual to find such a stylish place which is also child-friendly.
The only problem we had was failing to get a connection to the gite's wi-fi. Richard and Julia bent over backwards to help us - even phoning previous guests who has used it, for advice - but to no avail. Still, for back-up, there is an internet cafe in Brantome.
We've stayed in a lot of gites, but this one gets 5 stars from us and we only wish we'd discovered it earlier. If you're happy staying somewhere, it's often high praise to say it felt like home, but this was much better - it's like living in the home you wish you had!

Charming place to stay

Review Submitted: October 10, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
I spent a week in the gite working on a marketing strategy, and found it quiet, restful and quite charming! The nearest town, Brantome is only a 15 minute walk away, and one of the loveliest places in France. Strolling down there through the fields to pick up a pain de campagne and chat to the locals was one of the highlights of my stay. The owners of the gite, Richard and Julia, were charming and gracious hosts, discreet but always available on request with an extra bottle of red wine, or some firewood for the open fire. I would highly recommend this gite, a beautiful place to stay in one of the loveliest parts of France! Bon appetit!

(English Version follws below)

We were two weeks visiting Julia and Richard, and we felt like in a Grand Hotel. The two spoiled us with all the art and are lacking in nothing. That Cottage is in very good condition and with all imaginable comfort. It is located in the north of Brantôme and you can place on foot in 20 minutes. Same behind the site are two hiking trails (maps are available at the Tourist Office) which the charms of the landscape and its surroundings show. All in all it was a very relaxing holiday and we can in good conscience recommend!
