A great family holiday

Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We rented this property last week. Three families, each with two children ranging from 7 months to 5 years. We had a wonderful stay. The photos really don't do the house justice in terms of the overall space available. All the rooms are vast including the entrance hallway. The owner is very helpful and has a whole cupboard full of childrens toys and games etc... Also a very interesting selection of books and games for the adults. It really did feel like a home from home - not so smart that you felt like you couldn't touch anything for fear of breakages but very tastefully and thoughtfully furnished. The kitchen is also very well set up. Our only slight negative was that four of the bathrooms had hand held showers only. An extra stand alone shower would have been useful.

There is plenty to do in the local area. St Emilion and Bordeaux are both well worth a visit. All in all a great holiday and thank you. We'll be back!

Traumhafte Sommertage in Coutras

Review Submitted: August 23, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009

Gaiac Bazel - Belgium

Bazel Belgium: We had a superb stay at the Vieille Ferme in Coutras. We where there with all the kids and there partners. In fact we should leave this comment open because there are no words to describe how wonderfull everything was. There might be a possible description and to put in words related to the region: " Premier Grand Cru Classé Chateau Vieille Ferme ". We ' ll be back!

We had an excellent stay in "La Vieille Ferme" in Coutras from July 18th till July 25th. We were 5 adults and 7 children and all of us found a very pleasant "harbour" of rest or activity/recreation. Especially the river Isle, flowing really in the backyard of this holliday farmhouse, attracted most of the children and their parents. The fact that there are 2 kayaks and 1 canoe available (including 6 swimjackets) gave us all many hours of joy on this wonderful piece of aquatic nature.
I definitely recommend this house to all families with children who can swim and who are enjoying nature and water activities.
Also the outside very spacious terrace is a "natural beauty" which we loved very much.

Absolutely wonderful house

Everything about this house was as good or better than we expected - it is incredibly spacious and completely outfitted for as many as 12 people. We enjoyed being at the pool or on the patio so much that it was difficult to persuade ourselves to get out and look around.

The location of the house is perfect for quick trips to the many surrounding vineyards and picturesque villages and is well situated for day trips. The day we spent at the beach near Arcachon was one of our kids' favorites, as was the day at the castle ruins of Bonaguil (both were a couple hours' drive but were very well worth the time).

Great house for a group of people, plenty of space, we were 9 during 15 days and we could have stayed more without problem. Upstairs nearly every room has its own bathroom, downstairs is an easy place to leave, great TV room with 3 sofas and great kitchen divided in two parts the table for more than 10 people and then a well organised kitchen with all the facilities. The backyard is the best of the house, wonderful garden by a river plus the swimming pool. Ping pong, basket, kajak, coffe outside, nice chats outside at night... wonderful place, we stayed at home more than we planned.

Superbly equipped and a pleasant quiet location

A very spacious house, very well suited for families, or large groups of friends, with every facility one could think of The property is well maintained and very clean. The location is pretty and peaceful but the immediate surrounding area - Coutras and Abzac - is rather dull. However within 20 minutes St. Emilion has great restaurants and cafes, and the hundreds of vineyards within a short drive are a wine lover's heaven. The house is about 90 minutes drive, depending on traffic to Bordeaux Merignac airport. There is an excellent supermarket, LeClerc, within 10 minutes drive and a great fresh food market in Libourne on Sunday, about 30 minutes away. The English speaking owner lives in the adjoining house and is very pleasant and helpful.
