Chilled Out!

Millse Newcastle upon Tyne
Review Submitted: October 16, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We spent a week at Casa Chill Out and had a relaxing holiday. We couldn't fault the house for facilities, decor and comfort with one exception. Unfortunately for us the day temp was 32deg with the night being 24deg! This meant sleeping was uncomfortable without air con in the bedroom. There was a fan but it's not as efficient as air con. To be fair however the owner has indicated this is to be rectified very shortly. The excellent communal pool is a short walk away and was clean and tidy. The views to the mountains are nice but you are in a rural kind of area and there are animals in the background which you can hear from time to time. We enjoyed the dead easy 20min walk to the town, as it kept us fit walking off the excesses of food and drink! We didn't want to hire a car as we felt parking in Nerja town would have been hassle but otherwise a car or bikes would be useful. Taxis are circa 6-8 euros one way. The local market at the entrance of Almijara runs twice a week (or did when we were there). A kind of boot sale on Sunday and a full market midweek is worth checking out. The cheapest supermarket is the nearest one (5min walk) opposite the yellow post box but you need to take note of opening times. We went to the Nerja Caves on the bus, which is an easy trip to do yourself. The ticket kiosk is a 10-15min walk away and return tickets were cheap. You can also buy tickets on the bus for 1 euro (one way) to visit Frigiliana, which is also worth a visit. We paid for a trip to Granada, which included entry to the Alhambra Palace (approx 70 euros each for a full day) and it was worth it. We walked to Burriana beach from the house and were quite impressed with facilities etc. We paid for sun beds and felt it wasn't too expensive. The Paella making at Ayo's shouldn't be missed. We think they made at least 20 large Paella through the day when we went and it's delicious. There are obviously many restaurants in the town and although they are maybe not as cheap as in years past we found them comparable to what you would expect to pay in the UK. One of the cheapest we found was the Round Tapas bar where you get 1 free tapa with every drink. Overall we loved Nerja and will definitely be back in the future.

Stay at Casa Chill out

The transfers from and back to the airport organised by the owners were faultless so would recommend and you will also save 20 to 25 Euro on local rates.
The property is of very high standard throughout a real home from home, with spectacular views at the front over looking a valley to the mountains .
Nerja has the feel of how Spain used to be with its pretty, well maintained cobbled narrow streets and also the spectacular Balcon de Europa.
We would definitely recommend Sloans restaurant for Sunday lunch or dinner whereupon you will welcome the slight uphill walk back to the residence to help with digestion.
We will return to Nerja in the near future.

Casa Chill Out

Review Submitted: July 11, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
The property description is accurate. It is roomy with excellent facilities and well maintained. There is no air-conditioning in the bedroom but everything else in the property is perfect. It is about a 20/25 minute walk to the Balcon area in the town or Burriana Beach. There are too many good reasonably priced restuarants in Nerja to list but our favourite was Dal Toscana. If it is very hot, walking back from the beach during the day time is a little tough and a car is useful and can be used for a trip to the Alhambra, which is well recommended. The only downside during our stay was the dog in the valley across from the property who occasionally insisted on barking through the whole night and the music from a party one night that lasted until 7 a.m. - we didn't notice the dog that night! None of this of course detracts from Julie's excellent property and the excellent customer service we received. I've given a 4 rating but it really should be 4.5.

Loved Nerja - Great House

Review Submitted: May 14, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Very nice property for couples or families, although I don't think suitable for those with young children due to the walk from the parking area to the house (although I've not got kids so not really an expert in these things). Nice and quiet and a relaxing walk into into the centre with stop off bars for refeshments on way or way back. Thought often took taxi back (€6) out of laziness (too many drinks). Lots of great bars to chill out in - various live music at certain venues. Its just a nice chilled out town with nice people. Ideal for what we wanted to get away from work.

Nerja is a lovely town and a great base for exploring the area or just staying local with lovely bars, tapas and strolling around.

The house is great, very clean and comfortable. All the amenities you could want. The shower is fantastic! Unfortunately the pool was not in use when we so can't comment on that really.

We loved our time there and I thought the hosts were brilliant right from the initial booking and looking after us while we were there (had a slight mishap with a key but it was no problem and quickly sorted - thanks!!)

Weather was a mixed bag ranging from very hot to pretty cold, but a lot better than UK for time of year. Managed to get a little burnt so you have to be careful even when it does not seem so hot.

Overall, you'll have no issues with the house or Nerja for a nice relaxed holiday with plenty of fun to be had. Enjoy! J&K

Casa Chill Out

Casa Chill Out is in a perfect location, lovely views and close enough to town whilst feeling that you are in a more rural spot. It is very quiet and has everything that you will need for a relaxing break. Exactly as in the pictures.

We visited out of high season (Oct/Nov) so the pool was closed, however we hired a car from the airport and so everything was within easy reach. Wouldn't have wanted to do the walk to the beach with kids every day, down hill there but all up hill on the way back. Having been to Spain before and been disappointed we were delighted with Nerja and the location of the Villa.

Burriana beach was our favourite and has really excellent facilities for children, play areas dotted right along the beach. The beach itself is very clean and it was often difficult to tempt our six year old away he had so much fun. Don't miss the restaurant 'AYO' on the beach they make the best Paella!

Also a highlight was a trip to Frigilliana a village in the mountains nearby. A lovely traditional spanish village and a highlight of our trip. Don't miss the Nerja caves either they are spectacular.

A mention about the owners too, Julie was really helpful as was her daughter Lisa, both were available and on hand to ask questions. Quick communication by e-mail too. Thank you for a great stay, will recommend to friends!

Tranquillity Base

As its name suggests this is the ideal place to unwind and relax, its peaceful and quiet with all the amenities of home, Casa Chill Out has that "feel good" factor.

For a day at home the patio overlooks the mountains and the Communal Pool is 2 minutes away with excellent facilities.Nerja is a pleasent 20/30 minute walk which takes you down to the excellent beaches and interesting streets with Tapas bars and Restaurants, try Cochrans Terrace bar on an evening it overlooks the sea with stunning views, its near the Balcon de Europa, or eat at the Sevillane on Calla Gloria.

Finally a mention for Lisa and Simon who manage the property and arrange transfers, they do the things that give the house and the holiday that "feel good" factor. Many thanks.

CHIC TRANQUILITY, FIRST CLASS

Review Submitted: September 30, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Arrived slightly stressed and left absolutely chilled out. The house is furnished and equipped to a really high standard and there's a lovely feel of tranquility about the place.
The lack of aircon in the bedroom was'n't a problem for us ,but the owners say it it will be installed for when we return next year (Yes, we've already booked to go back)
The terrace is fabulous to enjoy the lovely views with a glas or two of vino.
The location is far enough from town to avoid the hustle and bustle but only a twenty minute walk or we occasionally splashed out 6 euros on a taxi.
All in all a perfect place to chill out. Cant wait to go back there

Peaceful retreat

Stayed for 10 nights in July. The location is fabulous and was extremely peaceful, especially as most of the immediate neighbours had gone away. Gorgeous views and lovely watching the farm hands in the morning. The showers were fabulous and the kitchen was really well equipped. We werent short of anything.
The pool is quite small, especially at the busier times of day when there were a lot of kids around and there isnt much room to sunbathe, although we did find another pool on the other side of the development, which had more grassy areas and was bigger.
The house is just a little too far out of town, the walk into town wasnt too bad but we ended up getting taxis back most of the time, especially due to the heat.
Unfortunately there isnt any air conditioning in the bedrooms, which made it often difficult to sleep at night.
Also, the local bar (Genesis) was closed for most of the time we were there which meant a bit of a trek to get a cold beer.

One of the best restaurants is a little local one - "La Puntilla" - great selection of tapas and a great atmosphere, even on a Monday evening. Its on Calle Bolivia.
Would definitely recommend to others.

Had a great time in the house. Lovely facilities in the property and everything you could need. The outdoor area was lovely for alfresco dining.
The communal pool provided a great cool off with a friendly atmosphere from others using it. There was a great local shop which provided pretty much everything you could need but a car would be useful for exploring a bit further afield. The centre of Nerja and beach are a pleasant walk with a uphill climb home.
Our airport lift organised from the property was brilliant.

The villa and resort were fabulous - we had a great holiday and would recommend to friends and maybe return ourselves - the only moan we have is there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms which made it difficult to sleep as we were there at the height of the season - but everything else was excellent - a great place to stay and Julie was very helpful
