Home away from home

Lovebardados Kempsford, UK
Review Submitted: September 7, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Where to start, to walk into an oasis from the gorgeous heat would be a start. Everything and anything you need are at your fingertips. Fresh towels and linen available. A wonderful lady that comes twice a week to keep the apartment spick and span. All you need for a self catering holiday is there. You have all the amenities you need too, laundry, swimming pool, bar, restuarant all only metres away. And the wildlife is amazing, monkeys with your morning coffee froliking on the golf course and a seranade to die for at night from the local frogs. Only a short walk and you are at the supermarket, which has a taxi service to take you back to the apartment. Taxi services on the premises, call and within 5 minutes you are being picked up. 15 minutes to the beach and a short ride on the bus and your in Bridgetown. The ladies in the office (also on site) are so helpful any queries/problems they drop everything to assist.

Having dealt with Nick and Debbie I don't believe I would deal or stay any place else. Barbados is the most beautiful place I have ever been. I found peace for my soul there. Thank you Nick and Debbie and hopefully this will become a long standing relationship as I am planning on going to Barbados wherever I can.
Owner's Response: Hi Lovebarbados, we are so glad you had a wonderful holiday, one of the reasons we brought this apartment was for its location and it sounds like you made use of all the local facilities it has to offer, and we are pleased that our local agents are still providing a first class service. We hope you return soon. Best wishes Nick and Debbie.

Barbados : Must go again.....!

My wife and I have just returned from staying in this apartment for 12 days, and we will have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. The apartment is lovely and set in beautiful grounds. The amenities on site are excellent and you can almost fall out of bed into a lovely warm, refreshing, pool.
We hired a car from a company suggested by the owners and had no problems with it at all. The company brought it to the apartment and picked it up from there - very convenient. And Rockley is very well situated on the island for visiting all the main attractions there are, as well as having a lovely beach and good restaurants itself.
The golf course is a good test and reasonably priced; friends we met said that they think it is now as cheap to play in Barbados as in the European golfing resorts.
Finally, the most important thing - the quality of service from the onsite office and the owners themselves ( by email and telephone ) was excellent. Thanks Nick and Debbie.

Great appartment in Rockley

Review Submitted: October 4, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Having contacted the owners with a request for a 2 week stay, we quickly established that the property was being decorated and upgraded ( aircon in lounge area). The dialog with the owners was great. They are well experienced in supporting the property and potential visitors, and have lots of great information regarding the local area, and also further afield in Barbados. They communicate clearly and very promptly, leaving nothing to chance or unclear.
The property is as described, very clean and well maintained, and also well equipped should you want to cook a meal, barbecue, or just chill on one of the balconies. The local agents, located on the complex, are also very friendly and helpful.
Rockley Golf Club is a peaceful location, just a couple of mins drive from the local beaches at Rockley and Worthing with the Gap only down the road if you like a little more lively time. If you play golf, what could be better, but if you do not, and we do not, then this is not an issue.
Within a short distance of the property is one of the better restaurants on the island, Champers, and we had to check it out. Great service, wonderful seaside location and food, at a price which make you want to go back. We also found a small, more local restaurant, less than a mile away called Shakers. Local food and a great atmosphere, at really competitive prices.
We would have no hesitation in recommending the property to relatives and friends, and have already done so.
As we have been to Barbados a couple of times before, but stayed in the all inclusive style hotels on the west coast, we knew what to expect, and found that the property was superbly located for visiting all of the island, if you have rented a car, with most of the local beaches and attractions easily within walking distance.
Bottom line...great place, well equipped, good location...try it yourself.
Owner's Response: Thank you RogD for your review, we are glad you had a good time. Champers is one of our favourite restaurants as well and we can often be found there enjoying a cocktail or two. When we read good reviews like this it makes all the hard work worth while, we hope you come back soon. Nick and Debbie.

We absolutely loved it!!

We had an amazing week in Barbados and were very pleased that our daughter had recommended that we stay in your apartment. The location is superb as it is within easy walking distance of supermarkets and the most magnificent beaches. The apartment was very comfortable, well maintained and well appointed, with a communal laundry on the premises. The swimming pool was also great on those hot afternoons and evenings. We spent many hours relaxing on the balcony overlooking the golf course and watching the green monkeys in the palm trees and the busy little humming bees in the flowering bushes. The golf estate is beautifully maintained and so pretty with its flowering trees and shrubs. We did hire a car to enable us to see the entire island and visit such events and attractions as the Oistins Fish Festival, St Lawrence Gap and Harrison's Caves. However, there is a good bus service into Bridgetown and other places of interest. We would highly recommend your apartment for a wonderful relaxing holiday.
Owner's Response: Hi Al & Sal, we are so pleased you had a good time in our apartment and that you took your daughters advice to stay there. Looking over the golf course from the back balcony is also one of our favourite ways to spend some time. Hiring a car is always a good idea as it enables you to get around a bit as you did, to see some of the wonderful sights Barbados has to offer. You and your family will always be very welcome back as guests and remember we offer a discount to returning guests. Kind regards Nick and Debbie.

This was our first trip to Barbados and we were unsure what to expect, but the whole experience was brilliant. The apartment looked very nice in the photos but they don’t do it justice. It can sleep up to 4 people with the sofa bed in the lounge and it has a good-size living area and a double bedroom. It's very tastefully furnished and the balconies effectively give two extra sitting rooms in addition to what is already a spacious apartment. It’s light and airy with high ceilings, and the opposing windows allow a comfortable airflow that keeps the heat down, particularly when supplemented by the large ceiling fan in the living area. The air conditioning in the bedroom is welcome and effective.

We don’t play golf, but the adjacent course is a real asset because the view from the rear balcony is like looking over a beautifully landscaped garden, with lots of sub-tropical birds around, including the tiny, fascinating humming bird. The apartment was very clean and well prepared and the managing agents - Island Gold - were friendly, attentive and efficient. There’s a bar/restaurant at the clubhouse about 5 mins walk away and there’s a decent supermarket within about 15 mins. Beyond that there’s a range of bars and restaurants and then a huge selection at St Lawrence Gap. If you don’t fancy the walk taxis are readily available from the clubhouse. We in fact hired a car for the duration of the holiday, something that we would strongly recommend - relatively inexpensive and easily organised through the ever-efficient Island Gold. The driving is generally sedate and considerate and (for us Brits) they even drive on the correct side of the road! The local beaches are fine, but a car gives easy access to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, less than half an hour’s drive away up on the west coast. (I accept this is a subjective view!)

I would say that the apartment and the location would suit both couples looking for an easy, relaxing holiday, and people with young children or teenagers. The only mistake we made was only booking it for a week – it could easily be a home-from-home for a few weeks or even longer. We’ve travelled quite extensively over the years but this was probably the best accommodation, and also the best and most relaxing holiday, that we’ve had. It’s certainly the only one that we can remember where, while we were still there, we were already planning to go again the following year. Highly recommended.

We used to live in Rockley 25 years ago so knew what to expect up to a point when we visited in March 09.
Having said that we were pleasantly surprised by how well equipped the apartment was and full of useful information packs also. We would have no hesitation in using it again or indeed recommending it to others.

Review Submitted: December 18, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
My wife and I went here in the middle of August 2008 and we are in the process of booking a return visit. This apartment ticks all the right boxes...clean, comfortable, quiet but only a short walk to where the action is, down on Rockley Beach during the day and in the evening a little further on to the Gap for the restaurants and bars. Don't be put off by the golf course location - it's good if you want to play golf but just as good if you aren't interested in that. Aircon was in the bedroom only when we were there but the owners tell me that another unit is being installed in the lounge. Incidentally, we found the owners very easy to talk to and quick to reply to our queries.
We had a great time while we were there, our first time in this apartment but our third visit to the island. If you haven't been there before you have a lot to look forward to. Here are three tips for first time visitors: 1) when you go on to Rockley beach look for Bruce, he'll look after you; 2) don't forget to allow for at least one day on the beach at Bottom Bay on the eastern side of the island for a fantastic beach and lovely big waves; 3) Walk to the Harlequin restaurant for that special night out, it's really good without the ridiculous prices of some places up the west coast - just make sure you book ahead.
Oh, and you won't really need a car, at least not for whole time you are there. The buses are fun and very cheap, not to be missed.

Five out of five.

My boyfriend and I stayed at 634 Bushy Park in October and had a great time. We would definitely go there again and missed it as soon as we arrived back in England, where it was raining and cold.

The apartment is well equipped, very spacious and nicely decorated.
The bedroom is air conditioned which is good at night as it can get very hot.
Now we are back at home we will miss being able to relax on the balcony in the morning having our breakfast overlooking either the golf course or the pool,  Everything in the apartment worked perfectly and it is clear that this apartment is well maintained.

Everything is really close, from the swimming pool which is a few steps away, which most days we had to ourselves, to the supermarket and the beach both a short walk away (there is also a free shuttle bus from the supermarket, back to your apartment.)

There is so much to do in Barbados. We found this apartment ideally located; if you just want to relax around the pool for the day, stroll to the beach or spend the time sight seeing, then this is the place for you.

Whilst we were there, we enjoyed a few trips around the Island and our favorites included the submarine and the wildlife park, but there are many more places to explore and activities to keep you occupied.

We would definitely recommend this apartment to couples or families and we can’t wait to go back.

Emma and Ashley
Owner's Response: Just wanted to give a bit of an update for this reviewer, you mentioned that the bedroom is air conditioned, well we have now added air conditioning to the rest of the apartment so it is fully air conditioned, which is great news particularly if you want to use the sofa bed in the lounge as an extra bedroom. Nick and Debbie.

My wife, daughter and I stayed for 15 nights in Nov.08. one bed apartment with sofabed. We booked 15 nights. The location looking out across the Golf Course at the players was a constant source of amusement to us all. Very Private in beautifully kept grounds. Resort made up of clusters of apartments each with individual swimming pools. Appartments all well managed and pleasent maids gardeners etc. Rooms were roomy with aircon to bedrooms. Lots of bars restaurents along Beach a good 10 min. walk and worth it. Highly reccommended for family with small kids, and couples who want to be away from the bars, but still near enough to enjoy.

GREAT APARTMENT

Review Submitted: October 20, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
My boyfriend and i stayed at this apartment for a week at the end of August 2008. We had a wonderful time. The apartment is clean and spacious and has all the mod con's you would need for a week self catering in the sun. The pool is small but nearly always deserted ao that was fine. The apartment is located about ten minutes walk from the nearest beach. The air conditioning was a little temperamental, being something you rely on in 31 degree heat this was a major factor. How ever, we would definately go back here. The island was lovely, the people were lovely and the apartment was everything we needed and more. Thanks alot Nick and Debbie!!!
Owner's Response: Thanks shoegal08 glad you had a great time and we are pleased to report that the temperamental problem with the air conditioning unit has now been fixed.
