What a slice of heaven!

Les Rosiers is a fantastic retreat! We hadn't been to France for a number of years and were looking forward to the break so much. We were not disappointed. The house is fantastic - home from home, and the pool (albeit a tad cold as we visited in October) was a lovely touch. It was lovely to wake up on Sunday morning to the sound of birds and a blue sky, not another sound. The owners are the kindest of people, both knowing the area so well that they are on hand to guide you to the best places to visit. Montignac is a beatiful place, proper French France! A real chill out holiday - we will return.

Les Rosiers, Montignac

Just returned from an all too short week at Les Rosiers.

The house is beautiful, imaculate and well equiped. The pool is fantastic, particularly in the hot August weather, the perfect place to cool off!! It is number one on the childrens' list of favourite parts of the holiday.

Steve and Judie are very welcoming and really do make you feel that nothing is too much trouble, even trying to find an alternative stop-over hotel for us on the journey home. They have an incredible knowledge of the area and attractions and their recommendations for activities and restaurants were impeccable.

All in all, I would not hesitate in recommending Les Rosiers and Montignac to anyone. I can't wait to return.

Nice, Large Home in the French Countryside

We just got back from a 3-week vacation in France with my kids and my parents. We spent two weeks at Les Rosiers.

Les Rosiers is a nicely renovated, 3-bedroom farmhouse in Les Bories about 4 km from Montignac. The house was built in 1940 and owners Steve and Judie have put a lot of work into fixing it up. The kitchen and 3-1/2 bathrooms all look brand new. Almost everything you could need is provided (fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, linens, towels, clothes washer, iron etc).

Chris and Kate help Steve and Judie with listing the property. Steve and Judie live at Les Rosiers in rooms with a separate entrance. Les Bories is a small hamlet close to the Vezere river and Valojoulx is the nearest village, but you'll need to go to Montignac for markets, bakeries, restaurants and banks. The small village of Saint Leon sur Vezere (6 km away) is also very cute. We rented a canoe in Saint Leon and spent hours floating down the Vezere (the rental companies drive you back).

The area is very peaceful and scenic, but it's a bit of a drive on narrow roads to get to much of the Dordogne (about 30 km to Sarlat, 40 km to Beynac et Cazenac for instance). There's also no doubt that you're living in the countryside - there might be more cows than people in Les Bories and the local birds make sure you wake up early every morning!

Overall, we loved Les Rosiers and we don't hesitate to recommend it.

We have just returned from a most wonderful stay in Les Rosiers, the house was all we could have wished for, so well equipped and well maintained, nothing was too much trouble for Judie and Steve who made us feel welcome. The customer service was second to none. The pool was wonderful as it sheltered us from the heat of the sun but was still kept warm by the solar heating. There was a folder full off activities and ideas for things to do, the area is a treasure trove of museums, markets, caves and castles. We used Steve as a guide and that proved to be the icing on the cake. We would recommend this property to our friends. The only thing we didn't like was having to come home. Thank you Judie and Steve we wish you continued success and hope to see you again soon.

A lovely peaceful place with plenty to do and see in the area or chill out as you wish. Really enjoyed the walk to Lascaux with Steve - his knowledge is amazing!

The house is very clean and modern yet with old country charm. The pool is brilliant - smaller grandaughter learned to swim. A great success. Thank you.

Will recommend to our friends. Back to reality today.

We said we'd be back when we visited in 2006 and here we are!

What a fantastic place to come and stay! The house is beautiful in this quiet little village with so much to see and do all within easy driving distance. Steve & Judie are wonderful and can tell you all about this fabulous region and its rich history. Steve’s talk about the area and the visit to Lascaux II is amazing - Steve puts the whole Lascaux story into context and it is stunning to find out so much about the land and people.

We’ve been here two weeks - not long enough! Les Rosiers is somewhere to relax. The pool is quite fantastic! And of course totally weather proof! All quite idyllic.

The whole area has unfolded before our eyes and will be held in our dreams until we return again
