Cosy and full of character

My boyfriend and I spent a blustery November weekend in this gorgeous cottage. We didn't want to leave. Everything was very clean and tidy. Well stocked and good instructions about where to get wood for the fire etc. Great shower! Comfy bed. Also a beautiful location. Catch word of the weekend, 'I bet this beach would be lovely in the summer'.

Lovely cottage!

Review Submitted: November 10, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
My spouse and I recently spent 4 nights here. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax after a long travel. The cottage was actually nicer than I had expected, and the shelves offer a good selection of books. Total plus! Joanna's directions on finding the place were thorough; we were able to find our way in the dark after a long drive and an even longer flight.
There's a book at the cottage that offers recommendations for things to do, restaurants, shops, etc. Some of the places listed were echoed by the locals. The Nag's Head had really great food, and the Eagle became our favorite pub. Everything is close by. Some places were easier to walk to than others. It's easy to walk around St. Dogmaels, but you might want a car if you decide to hit the Poppit Sands or Cardigan. We walked to both places, but there aren't sidewalks in some areas, and there are a few hills.
It will be a few years before we head back over the pond, but we would definitely stay here again!

(The only issue was that we couldn't find the rubbish bin outside.)

Beautiful holiday stay

Review Submitted: August 9, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My wife and me had a nice two week stay at this beautiful cosy cottage located in the hills of St. Dogmaels. The views from the bedrooms and back garden are as great as you can see in the description. The cottage is clean and well furnished with a kitchen/dining room, a living room with fire place and two bedrooms upstairs. On the board in the kitchen and in the living room you find plenty of information for sightseeing and trips in and around St. Dogmaels and the house itself. The possibilities for spending your free time are nearly without any limits. We had been to Poppit Sands beach, Mwnt beach, abbey and water-mill in the village, walked on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Poppit Sands to Ceibwr Bay (3 hrs, highest cliffs in Wales) and made lots of trips to the surrounding area and even had a visit to the Ferry Inn and Eagle´s pub. A small Spa-shop is around the corner down the main road and a bigger Tesco´s about 3 miles away at Cardigan so self-catering is no problem.
We got introduced to lots of friendly people and the neighbours who helped us with plenty of information on the village and area/places around.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the lovely cottage and are planning to come back the next years if somehow possible for us.
Thank you very much for this great holiday stay.

Stunning views

Review Submitted: July 20, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We've just returned from a lovely family holiday despite a 24-hour torrential downpour. The steep climb to the cottage is a little daunting on arrival, but the stunning views from the bedrooms and the garden more than make up for the strain on the knees. Village has a fascinating Abbey, Church, visitor centre, Water-mill with fresh bread daily, a Spar, a PO, several pubs and a chip shop (Tue-Sat). The wide open beach of Poppit Sands Is just five minutes away, the town of Cardigan with Tesco, Aldi, Somerfields, a great market and a theatre/cinema about the same distance. The National Trust-owned Mwnt cove is our favourite beach, and the cafe at the Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran does great food - our son is a convert to soup after trying their chicken, leek and tarragon. Good jumping off point to various stretches of the Coastal Path - recommend Dinas Head for a circular walk.
Cottage has all the facilities you need for a holiday break - great library, iPod dock and good collection of games. TV's a bit tiny, but who wants to watch TV on holiday? We'll be back

Beautiful cottage for the perfect escape

Review Submitted: April 14, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My girlfriend and I (both mid-twenties) stayed here for 4 nights in April. Upon our arrival we were very pleasantly surprised by the size, comfort and presentation of the cottage. The photos here do not do it justice. One instantly feels at home here. We enjoyed evenings by the fire and gorgeous views of the sunsetting behind the river from the well maintained and beautifully constructed, private terraced garden. The cottage is ideally located for exploring the surrounding area on foot and also to visit the fascinating towns and villages further afield by car. St Dogmaels was full of the friendliest villagers that we encountered anywhere on our stay and the local pubs, particularly, the Eagle, served up fantastic food and well a wide range of ales. I'm already planning our next visit!

Cosy and personnal cottage in a quiet place. We have enjoy to go to the beach, visiting the abbey ruins, walking in St Dogmaels paths and specially on the Pembrokeshire coastpath .... and have a drink or a meal at the Ferry Inn.
If you like to play golf, Cardigan golf club is a very good course with specially good greens.

Cosy, warm cottage in a lovely part of Wales,
Everything was very clean and there were nice decorating touches. Great place to stay as it is central to so many places in West Wales.Cardigan has a Tesco's so food is reasonable to buy.
Like it says it is a quiet village location with stunning views across the River Teifi
I would not hesitate to stay here again if i was visiting the area

Wonderfull time

Review Submitted: August 30, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We had a wonderfull time here. The views from the bedrooms were absolutely beautifull, so was the view from the small garden in the back.
The village of St. Dogmaels is a real treat especially when you are there when the Shakespeareplay is being perfomed in the abbey. There are lots of things to do and places to see in the neighbourhood, but you should need a car. When you like walking, like we do, you can really enjoy various parts of the Pembrokeshire coastpath.

Although its a steep climb to get to the house, it was an enjoyable place coming home to every afternoon.

Review Submitted: June 13, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
Cosy Cottage with fantastic views. Need to be fairly fit to get to it as it is up a steep slope. It was clean and well equipt. Good location for walking and cycling. Bus service and stop very close to the cottage. Four pubs close although not always open. Ferry Inn is nice for a drink or meal and the Boat in Cardigan, an indian restaurant on the river was also good. So many beautiful beaches to go to in the area. Wildlife park in Cardigan was a good day out which we went biking. There is plenty to do for those who are active or just want to relax.

The cottage was lovely and clean, cosy and had great views from the bedrooms and back garden. The village shop and chip shop are a short stroll as is the park, local pub and river. A really good base for exploring the area.
