SUPER STOUPA

My wife my 14 yr old son & myself arrived in Stoupa with mixed feelings of what to expect. Having holidayed in Symi in the Dodecanese for over 20 years Stoupa to our mind had a lot to do to impress us. We were not to be dissapointed, having spent 2 nights in Athens sightseeing we followed the excellent driving directions supplied by Wendy & Barry & arrived just after lunch with a driving time of 4.5 hours. Our hosts were just finishing prepping our appartment so we had time to aquaint ourselves with the lovely garden & bbq area together with the superb pool. Once in the appartment we were impressed with all on offer (including the chilled beers in the fridge) the rooms were all well appointed & W+B seemed to have catered for all our needs. The view from the terrace was superb & even better at sunset, also the views to the mountains from the rear of the property were equally stunning.
Stoupa itself is a lively cosmopolitan village based around a sandy radius of beach with another more sporty beach around the headland. Everyone (except nightclubbers & disco divas) are more than adequateley catered for with a great choice of tavernas, quiet & busy bars, awesome bakerys & even a couple of ice cream parlours. With a car the added attraction of mountain villages, alternative beaches up & down the coast, together with the neighbouring villages of Kardimili & Agios Nicholas we were never stuck for somewhere to go. Back to the appartment we have to say W+B were the perfect hosts, early evening drinks by the pool were accompanied by chats about local history & what to do & not do, by the end of our 2 weeks we felt we had seen & knew more about the local area than we would of done had we 'package' holidayed.
So were we impressed by the appartment ? YES

Stoupa itself is a lively cosmopolitan village based around a sandy radius of beach with another more sporty beach around the headland. Everyone (except nightclubbers & disco divas) are more than adequateley catered for with a great choice of tavernas, quiet & busy bars, awesome bakerys & even a couple of ice cream parlours. We have been visitors to Stoupa for over ten years and have usually booked through one of the large holiday companies. This year however we decided to explore the website and what a stroke of luck we came accross Barry & Wendy's apartments. We booked two weeks in Helios apartment.
Our holiday began with three days sightseeing in Athens. We then travelled down to Stoupa on the express bus. Barry was very helpful with our travel arrangements, recommending a good hotel location and connections all the way to Stoupa, (He even arranged taxis to and from Kalamata).
Barry & Wendy are the perfect hosts, doing everything possible to ensure their guests have a perfect holiday, the couple of cold beers awaiting us on arrival were very welcome ! The apartment is very comfortable and well equiped with a very high standard of cleanliness.
A great extra was the provision of free sunbeds and parasols on the beach. After a twenty minute walk back to the apartment it was great to be able to plunge into the pool. The apartments are set in beautiful gardens, where a full size barbeque is provided for your use.
We plan to revisit Helios in the future and would unreservedly recommend it as the perfect place for a truly relaxing holiday

Just returned from a week at Helios and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Stoupa. Helios is a great little apartment located just above the resort with a view over the rooftops to the sea. The accommodation can't be faulted - comfortable, well-equipped and spotless (cleaned midweek including change of linen & towels!!). Barry and Wendy are lovelly friendly people who make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. They have gone out of their way to try and think of everything they can to help you enjoy your holiday, right down to providing beach towels and free sunbeds on the beach. We were looking for a week of chilling out and got everything we wanted; sunshine, blue sky, waves lapping on the beach, a plate of Gyros in the shade with a beer or two at lunchtime.............. What are you waiting for - book it.

We had an absolutely fantastic time in Stoupa and cannot recommend staying in this beautiful property enough. Right from the word go Barry and Wendy couldn't have been more helpful, sending us directions to Stoupa and coming to meet at the end of our journey from Athens
Helios was lovely and exactly as described - we particularly appreciated having the balcony, perfect for lazy breakfasts and watching the sun go down later in the day. The property was spotless, and as we were travelling with our children the availability of beach towels and also loungers and umbrellas at the beach in stoupa was a real plus. Our daughters, aged 11 and 7, loved the beach, happily spending hours swimming and snorkelling.
Barry and Wendy were perfect hosts, welcoming us not just to their property but to Stoupa itself. They were a fount of useful information and advice about the local area, which helped us make the most of our stay.
In short we had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable family holidays ever - beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery and many many happy memories. Thank you so much Barry and Wendy!

This is our second time to Stoupa but our first as independent travellers. As with most families we save up all year for those two weeks away and try and get it right as in location and accommodation.
I spend quite a lot of time on holiday uncovered trying to get the right place and to be honest it is just a mine field as my opinion of a perfect place differs from others and visa versa.
I read the reviews on Barry's and Wendy's site and thought it might be to good to be true and there must be a BUT somewhere. Well the isn't all the reviews that I have read are spot on and justifiable 100%.
Barry and Wendy are proud of their accommodation and quite rightly so there have put so much attention to detail over the years it is a home from home. The facilities make the holiday a relaxing time, stress free, hassle free and in this time of counting the pennies well worth every penny.
Thanks Barry and Wendy for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Stoupa. A fabulous location in the unspoilt Mani region. The scenery was beautiful, stunning olive groves, wild flowers, cypress trees, mountains and excellent beaches with clear blue sea. The weather was perfect, the location was excellent for exploring the Mani region. A short walk into Stoupa Bay provides you with excellent Tavernas, shops and a gorgeous sandy beach. Barry and Wendy are truly special people who put there all into ensuring that their guests are comfortable. They are extremely warm, friendly and genuine people, we would definately stay again if we came back to Stoupa. The apartment was spotlessy clean, extremely comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay,at the end of a busy day the pool was the perfect way to cool down.

Well where can we start; just as you are doing now we read all about Barry & Wendys’ wonderful apartments on this website and I can assure you that all of the positive compliments to both Barry & Wendy and Stoupa are justly deserved. Barry & Wendy could not be better hosts; they go out of their way to ensure your stay will be a success, with lots of local knowledge, humour, and supplying the essentials of beach towels, sunbeds & sunshades for the beach.
The apartment is positioned towards the rear of Stoupa amongst olive groves with views both out towards the sea and up towards the mountains behind. The location is extremely peaceful, lounging in or by the pool is just fantastic. Stoupa itself is a good size with a great choice of tavernas, our favourites were Agelikis (at Barry &Wendys’ recommendation) and Lastres. Don't miss the ice cream parlour either!
So as first time visitors to Stoupa we can say this holiday truly hit the nail on the head for a peaceful, relaxing, family beach holiday. We will be back so a big thankyou from us all to you Barry & Wendy, the perfect hosts. Phil & Sally

Lara and Isaac are two great kids and the fact that they laughed at my jokes means they are more than welcome to return. So if you have never booked an independent holiday before please do so we offer much more than the average package holiday.

When we read the other reviews, we thought hello Barry and Wendy must have written these themselves! But no they didn't. We had a wonderful holiday with excellent local walks. The pool is lovely and in May / June the water was around 25 to 27 C.
The local tavernas are good Greek quality and Angeliki's is very Greek and hospitable. Barry & Wendy's sunbeds on the best part of the beach were a luxury. B & W were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble.

Owner's Response: Once again guests came, and left as friends. If you are looking for a relaxing get away from stress holiday, then Stoupa is the place to be. With so many reviews Helios and Artemis fit the bill. Why not give us the opportunity of providing that special break, but do book early to avoid disappointment.

Stoupa is a great place for a holiday - lovely beaches and restaurants nearby with wonderful countryside a short drive away. In Easter it was also wonderfully quiet and peaceful, warm but not too hot. Barry and Wendy were really helpful and went out of their way to give us what we needed. Thanks so much!

A Truly Fantastic Holiday

We visited Greece in late April. Barry and Wendy were the perfect holiday hosts; they were extremely helpful and accommodating and were able to provide a wealth of information about the local and surrounding areas which was invaluable as it ensured that we returned home with enough photographs and memories to keep us going until our next holiday (already pencilled in for next year!) We enjoyed an absolutely wonderful holiday in Stoupa. The apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The garden and barbecue area are delightful and provided the perfect setting for evening drinks before dinner. We chose to hire bikes rather than a car and cycled to the bakery each morning for breakfast bread or croissants (thanks to Su, Tegan, Amber and Chris for the tip in your review!) We also used the bikes for seeing the sights around the village and a little further beyond on a few late afternoon/early evenings. It really is a beautiful setting, the scenery is breath-taking with dramatic mountains, peaceful coastal walks, an array of wildlife at every turn and beautiful beaches (Stoupa beach being a very pleasant 10minute stroll away). I highly recommend Barry and Wendy’s holiday apartments to anyone considering a holiday in Stoupa.
