Second time around

Review Submitted: October 8, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This was our second stay at this apartment, so there was less demand to see the major sights although we made several reasonably local excursions including Lucca and San Miniato (both gorgeous!) as well as Casciana Terme itself for the weekly market (the figs were heavenly!). Walked 5 - 6km back along the ridge from Terricciola to the villa (yes, at midday!) pausing every 5 minutes to take a photo of the stunning scenery. The apartment itself remained at the very high standard of two years ago. The pool was warm - the sun shone - what more could you ask for? We hope to return soon!

The apartment was all we could wish for, spacious, comfortable and cool and airy which was a bonus as the weather was more than kind to us and those of us shy of the sun found the cool rooms a lovely place to relax. The sun worshippers amongst us used the pool side sun beds and the enticing pool to the max. The apartment is ideally placed for visiting the Tuscan towns and villages nearby as well as easy access to Pisa and Florence. The local pizzaria is to be recommended, very friendly service, plenty of wine and the limoncello is lovely. I recommend this propery for a wonderful holiday for sight seeing and relaxation.

Perfect peace in an Idyllic Apartment

Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This was our first visit to this area of Italy We easily found the well maintained spacious and tastefully decorated apartment .This enabled us to quickly chill out in the pool , never tiring of admiring the wonderful views from the terrace or the local picturesque villages. The information on the website is excellent and the added information sent from the owners leaves nothing to chance with numerous guide books and info leaflets . The local Pizzeria is good for informal eating after a long day out and you don’t have to wait long for a table. We never had a bad meal anywhere but we must mention a wonderful restaurant on the way to Casciana Terme called l Due Laghi. This apartment is ideal for relaxing as well as being well positioned for exploring the Tuscan countryside. We visited Florence, it is easily reached by taking the train from Pontederra (only 20 min) Most major must sees are all within easy driving distance. A joy to recommend.

We spent a fantastic holiday here. The apartment is in a superb location with magnificent views overlooking the Tuscany countryside. It is tastefully furnished, very comfortable and has everything needed to make eating ,or an evening in a special occasion. There are also games, books and DVD's if required. The lounge and kitchen both open onto the garden, which has been well stocked with plants and shrubs; the pool is well maintained and was an added bonus. The apartment is situated in a quiet village with shops supplying bread, milk, fruit, veg and other necessities. The local, family run restaurant is a stone's throw away. It has a friendly, informal atmosphere and children are welcome. The apartment is a brilliant place from which to exlpore the many fascinating towns and villages in the area. We would certainly return here for another holiday.

Great apartment, perfect location

Review Submitted: September 27, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
A lovely apartment overlooking the tuscan landscape to the Pisan hills in the distance. Large bedrooms and huge kitchen / diner, tastefully decorated and furnished - and kept very clean. One great advantage of this apartment for us was being able to step out of the kitchen and enjoy our meals on the terrace. The shared pool was great and we quite often had it to ourselves. The owner provided lots of helpful information before we left the UK and we followed many of his tips for local restaurants and places to visit. Two weeks wasn't enough to do justice to this area!

The apartment is well equipped, clean and very spacious with glorious views of the surrounding countryside. It was lovely eating our meals out on the terrace every day.We were able to relax completely and the children loved the pool -they were in it every opportunity they got! There were a few arrivals and departures from the other apartments during our stay but this never bothered us and everyone was really friendly and helpful. The owners guide was invaluable and very accurate -we would agree about the ice-creams in San Gimignano! It is a great base from which to see the major sights of Tuscany. Our favourite was Volterra, definately not to be missed. The locals were very friendly and appreciated our efforts at Italian! There is a handy little shop opposite the aparment on the main street and a good pizzeria down the hill which is very reasonable -this was the childrens favourite pizza all holiday. We would definately visit again.

Ideal holiday location

An excellent apartment superbly appointed, well equipped and very clean. The location in a small hilltop village allows you to experience the real Italy yet is well located for visiting many of the major attractions in Tuscany. Pisa, Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena are all within an hours’ drive, Florence is easily visited by taking the train from Pontedera 10 minutes away. There are numerous restaurants all within 10 to 15 minutes drive from the apartment and a very friendly local pizzeria just down the road. The apartment is also served well by local supermarkets and daily bread and basic provisions are available from the village store opposite the apartment. The kitchen is well equipped and for those not wishing to dine out every evening the terrace offers the ideal place to dine and sip your wine as the sun goes down. The information and tips supplied to us about the area by the owner was excellent and the handover of keys etc was without hitch. Highly recommended.

Blissful Tuscany

Superb, stylish, spacious and very comfortable apartment in the middle of a small village with friendly and welcoming local people. The local shop is opposite the apartment therefore enjoyed buying breakfast each morning to eat outside, admiring the fab views. Could spend the whole week relaxing, reading and using the lovely pool! Many restaurants to choose from - loved Ristorante Beni in Casciana Terme. We hired a car and found traffic not too heavy on any of the roads - easy to follow signs. We did take the train from the nearest town to Pisa for a change - no problems with public transport. Beautiful, breathtaking and interesting sightseeing including San Gimignano and Sienna. The apartment is a lovely, restful place to come back to after a day sightseeing; just relax in the pool before drinking a glass of Chianti on the patio. We have been to Italy a few times but this was the best holiday yet and we hope to return again next year.
