Relaxing trip

James and Marina Mayo, Ireland
Review Submitted: July 24, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My husband and I stayed in this beautiful apartment in early May 2009. From the moment we first came into contact with Nigel and Joan we felt we had found a treasure. The apartment itself was bright and well equipped with lots of information on whats available in the surrounding areas.Joan and Nigel met us and made us feel very comfortable.
The location is perfect from the views of the beach, the beautiful yacths, le Racou, the mountains and of course sitting on the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine, absolutely fabulous.
We walked, climbed a small mountain, visited Collioure, took a boat trip, went to a wine tasting and did all the touristy things you can do here and still had a very relaxing stay. There are lots of well stocked supermarkets here if you feel like cooking, you can buy fresh fish on the pier every morning and get your fresh bagettes and croissants in the local boulangerie, just around the corner.
We had a car but you really could manage without a car and it would bea great base for cyclists,or walkers or any activity really.
We thouraghly enjoyed our visit and Nigel and Joan really are very helpful and accommadating and the apartment is exactly as it says on the website.

Excellent location with superb view and lots to do

Mearnsman Glasgow
Review Submitted: July 22, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We spent just over two weeks in this excellent apartment which probably has one of the best locations in Port Argeles.

Plus points - large balcony with terrific views; secure entrance and lifts to 4th floor; extremely handy for shops, bars, restaurants; a 5 minute walk takes you to a wonderful beach; private parking at the back so no worries about finding a space; lots to do locally in S W France as well as in N Spain; and the owners can't do enough to help, even organising our Ryanair check in!

Very minor negatives - there can be a bit of noise at night (music and/or markets in the pedestrianised street below) but it will usually all switch off around 11. This makes for a great atmosphere but if you have younger kids you might not fully appreciate it! This is balanced by the bunk beds (for the kids) being located at the back of the apartment, away from any noise. Also, the flat was slightly smaller than we anticipated but this is balanced by the very large balcony which is where we spent most time having meals and relaxing.

We took Michelin's green guide to the Languedoc-Roussillon region with us and would recommend it if you want to look around. If you're adventurous, head for the Tarn Gorge, Montpelier etc; closer to home Carcassonne is worth a vist and across the border in Spain, the Dali museum in Figuera (don't miss the jewellery). Our only regret was not taking a guide book fot Catalonia but we might redress that on a return visit.

SPECTACULAR VIEWS FROM LOVELY APARTMENT

BOYLER Galway, Ireland
Review Submitted: July 16, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My husband and I spent 2 weeks in this lovely apartment. It was a very bright clean and well equipped apartment in a well maintained building. Joan and Nigel were very easy to deal with and it was very nice to meet them and have them show us the apartment and to tell us about the area.

The location is perfect - right in the centre of things. There are plenty of restaurants just downstairs and some shops
for souvenirs also. There is a well stocked supermarket just beneath the apartment and a great boulangerie just around the corner so shopping was easy. The lovely markets weekly on the marina are very good for getting little pressies to bring home.

You could only describe the view from the apartment as
spectacular - the colourful boats in the marina, the mountains and the Racou beach in the backgound.
The Argeles beach is just a 2 minute walk from the back of the apartment and was rarely very busy. Our favourite trip has to have been the boat trip from the marina itself to Colloure for E9. The prom on the beach was a lovely walk in the evenings. We visited the Dali Museum in Figueres - about an hour away in the north of Spain and the Museum of Modern art in Ceret, which has some lovely Picasso ceramics on display.

Overall this was a brilliant holiday in an outstanding apartment, we hope to return again within the next year or two.

Young couple embark on summer break

Young and penniless Manchester
Review Submitted: September 21, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Great little apartment in stunning surroundings. We are a young couple and stayed end of season. We didnt have a car but there was still plenty to do in the area, including the chance to try deep sea diving!
The apartment was very comfortable, with a great balcony over looking the boats and the mountains, where we spent many hours relaxing. Great bakerys, bars and restaurants all around the apartment block, and 2 good beaches within easy walking distance. We managed to explore on foot and bikes to Argeles Ville where we got the train to Perpignan so everywhere was easily accessible without a car.
Joan and Nigel were very helpful, giving us ideas and information about what to do on our stay and what was in our price range!
Great place, would love to come back!

An apartment with the edge

JGee Macclesfield, Cheshire, UK
Review Submitted: September 19, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
This is an excellent apartment. Comfortable, stylish, scrupulously clean, and a lovely large balcony with a view to die for. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony watching the ever-changing view and activity of the marina below. There was a super atmosphere in the evening when musical street entertainers played on the street below. However, activity settled down at a reasonable hour, then it was lovely and quiet for uninterrupted sleep. The immediate area offers an excellent range of restaurants; there is a particularly good one just below the apartment(we called it the blue restaurant) where the seafood was delicious. The Racou beach is a short walk away and offers a variety of lively eating places.
Fresh baguettes and crossants are available very nearby every morning and there is a little supermarket immediately below the apartment. So life is easy!
We took a short boat ride to the famous picturesque Collioure in the next cove, at a cost on 8 euros. Fresh fish can be purchased nearby if you fancy cooking. The beach was uncrowded and we were able to hire loungers and an umberella for a day, but this might prove expensive long term, so laying on the sand is quite comfortable.
There is plenty to do nearby (apart from eating!) , eg windsurfing, deep sea diving and sea canoeing. There is also a lively market on a Thursday in the square nearby. Further afield one can take the train to Barcelona, an experience we strongly recommend. The owners provide a pack which includes a lot of information. They provide excellent customer service; we got the impression that nothing was too much trouble. Overall we had a lovely relaxing time, This area offers so much and we will certainly be back!

A gem of an apartment with stunning views.

Geordie lad & lasses Newcastle upon Tyne, UK
Review Submitted: June 3, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
From the first initial enquiry with the owners Nigel & Joan we knew we were on to a winner! They could not have been more helpful. They provided us with essential information regarding the apartment facilities, the beautiful location and what the area offered in the way of restaurants, bars and local attractions to visit.
We hired a car from Gerona Airport and followed their clear and concise travel directions to Port Argeles where they met us with a warm and friendly welcome.
The actual apartment block is in a prime location within the Marina complex. Access is via a security entrance with a lift taking you to the penthouse, making it a most suitable holiday apt for many types of visitors. The apt. itself is small but certainly adequate for what was needed by our party of three adults, who wanted a relaxing break away in the sun in a superb location with stunning views, a beach minutes from the apt. and not forgetting the fabulous food and wine on offer within walking distance of the apt. The area itself was beautiful, the scenary outstanding, the locals were extremely helpful and very tolerant with us, especially when we only knew a smattering of French.
Certainly worth a visit, you would not be disappointed and sitting on the balcony with a glass of vin rouge and the end of a perfect day is the ultimate treat.
Good luck to Nigel & Joan they are extremely accommodating and go out of their way to assist in you having a wonderful time.
Would love to go back very soon to enjoy the experience all over again!.

Perfectly situated apartment

The expats Bournazel, France
Review Submitted: February 23, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
We believe we were the first guests in this apartment. It must be one of, if not the, best situated in Argeles Port with superb views of the sea and le Racou and also the summits of the Alberes. The flat is light, bright, comfortable and well-equipped, with sunlight from morning until dusk. The terrace is spacious.
A good base for walking, cycling, running, exploring etc.
