Review of Dorsoduro apartment

From Down Under Kootingal NSW Australia
Review Submitted: October 19, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
What a find!!! True to the description on the website,in fact surpassed our expectations. The apartment was clean and well appointed, however the addition of a washing machine would make longer stays easier. All communication with owner was promptly responded to,service was great (meet and greet on arrival), and tariff very reasonable. Very well situated, close to supermarket, post office, ATM and restaurants and easy walking distance to all tourist attractions, while still being a little out of the way. Bus terminal is 8 minutes walking with suitcases in tow,,,much quicker than the water bus from the railway, railway station is not much further. Highly recommended, in fact we have already passed on details to friends who are travelling to Venice next year. Thanks so much Josh and Fran!!!

My 2 cents on the house

Review Submitted: October 14, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
I like the location, easy walk from the train station and reasonable walk everywhere else. The house was fine, met our needs and priced right. The photos are pretty accurate but the place needed a good cleaning and the agent seemed like in a hurry to leave.

The main fault of this property was cleanliness. Since the owner does not live in the area maybe he is not aware of the work of the cleaning crew. On top of a thin layer of dust most of the places, some area were even sticky. We pretty much had to wipe the place down before we settled in. There were also quite a lot of dead mosquitoes on the walls. Since the upstair air-conditioner was installed in the hallway, the bedrooms were hot with the door closed, so we slept with the door opened. If I remembered correctly, the downstair toilet did not have a towel bar, I would recommend to install a towel bar there. Also, there were trash underneath the sofabed.

We did not use the backyard at all, so could not commend on it. Other than what I mentioned before. It was a pleasant stay.
Owner's Response: seems like we slipped up on the cleaning front. Part of the cause was that we accomodated our guests' request that they check in at 9.30am because of early arrival at the train station. No matter, we will try and avoid repeating this.

our stay at venice for a week

We often book via internet last years an appartment and you have to see what you get when you arrive. This was the first time that we got what internet showed.... and better. Good situated, close to the supermarket, close to the central points, a perfect kitchen (I like to coock on our holidays), good beds, a perfect home to stay for a week or longer. You are in the center of venice so you have to like to see a lot of boats and go stair on and stair of because of the lot of bridges on the canals. Perhaps my english is not completly correct, but thats why I am Dutch! An excelent place to stay and enjoy your holliday.

greetings from Ton, Rita and Lisa

Ps. take something with you against the mosquito's

Everything They Say is True

This apartment was exactly as described. It worked very well for our family of two adults and three children. It is stylish and attractive, and also comfortable. We ate in the courtyard every evening (except for the one night we ate at one of the restaurants in the Campo Santa Margherita).

We usually chose to walk in the direction of St Mark's Square, rather than take the water bus. It took us about 20 minutes to get to the Basilica from the apartment.

I'd love the chance to stay in this apartment again.

Review from Montreal visitors

The rental in Dorsodoro was beautiful in many respects: location, layout and decor of the rental. The place has been newly renovated and it shows. We really enjoyed it.

A few recommendations: The TV sound was sometimes fuzzy, but it was great to have a DVD player, no iron and ironing board was provided, a welcome sheet with local recommended restaurants, laundry services, internet services, transportation etc would be helpful, the unit was not very clean when we arrived and we were met by somebody who was not very pleasant..

None of these issues detracted from the wonderful vacation and our enjoyment of the place.

family trip venezia

Great location, quiet and close to the important places.
It is ideal for a family, like really living in venice for a week.
Shopping at the market and cooking fresh fish for lunch
in the garden.
I would advice Venice to all families, walking and when you are tired take the boat! So much to see in this city and its
Islands without cars!
I think the term apartment is not correct because its more
a house( a home) in venice.
If you are going to venice this is the district and the apartment to go to.

First Visit to Venice

anyname USA
Review Submitted: November 25, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Location was great! House was okay, but there was no tv or clock. Maybe some would like to get away from these items, but having them would have been nice.

Since this was our first visit to Venice, we had a great deal of trouble finding the apartment. If we had not had a phone we may still be looking.
Owner's Response: we were a bit surprised with the comments that our guest made. Firstly there IS a clock on the wall in the lounge/kitchen area, it is Venetian in style with roman numerals and keeps good time! At the time of the visit there wasn't a TV but this wasn't claimed in the property details and last month, we have put a TV and DVD player into the lounge.

As for not being able to find the property, we sent details of the location and gave the website address which sets the directions out really clearly with a detailed map. We also e mailed with recommendations on where to park and how to get there. Further directions were given by our lovely Property Manager who meets and greets all the guests. It is really easy to find the house and we don't understand why this was a problem, although it was our guests' first visit to the area.

We are sorry if these issues affected the enjoyment of the holiday and will always strive to do better!

wonderful and relaxing

When we arrived in venice, we were just surprised by the apartment and its location. The area is quiet and all important points in the city are easily accessible. Above all, we loved the relaxing hours in the garden - they gave us new power to discover the city and the lagoon.
Besides that any necessary facility (like a supermarket, vaporetto etc.) is close by.

Everything we hoped for!

Review Submitted: September 9, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
From booking the apartment to arriving and settling in, the whole process could not have been easier. Friendly and helpful communications with the owners raised our expectations before we left the country. These were only exceeded once we arrived. Great 'meet and greet' service off the vaporetto provided by a local agency (even at 11:30pm!); fantastic location that somehow managed to be central and yet quiet; brilliant apartment that was actually cool despite fierce August heat - and looked as if it would be warm in winter too. We hope to return - regularly!!
