Beautiful House

Tufty Guernsey
Review Submitted: May 29, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
We really enjoyed our stay at la Fleur de Lys. The house was very attractive, immaculate and tastefully decorated by the very dedicated owners. The pool was nice and warm and the barbeque area was excellent and used regularly. There was plenty to do in the surrounding area for everyone and the children loved it. Would strongly recommend this to those wishing to explore the beautiful Vendee region. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked for the following year as soon as we returned home!
Owner's Response: We love to have these reviews from our customers. It not only gives us great satisfaction to know that our clients enjoyed their stay, but also makes us try harder to improve the facilities to make their stay even more memorable. With this in mind, we are constantly making changes and amendments to up-grade the property, the accommodation and the leisure facilities.

Perfect retreat

Hellmutt Lichfield
Review Submitted: September 28, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
We have been now on at least 3 separate occasions. The house is beautiful, very tastefully decorated, & more than adequately equipped. The gardens & pool area, in keeping with the rest of the property, are well maintained & the owners work tirelessly to ensure it stays that way. The property is situated near to Fontenay, a reasonable sized town where all services & facilities are available, but in a charming little village, so it remains peaceful. The beautiful beaches of La Tranche & Les Sables d'Olonne are within easy reach as is the town of La Rochelle, steeped in history, with lots to see & do,& where the local cuisine is outstanding. The town of Cognac is also worth a visit. The roads are pretty well deserted except in major towns, & the local people have always been friendly & very helpful.
To summarise, you get 5-star accomodation, your own pool, & everything you need, in an area where there is something for everyone, which caters for but is not swarming with tourists. Simply Brilliant! We will return

Visit to the Vendee

Crosspatch Chichester
Review Submitted: July 20, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
On arrival at the House we discovered that the Owners, who live on site kept two dogs. This was expanded to three when a friends Dog arrived for a one week stay. The fact that Dogs were kept on site was not disclosed in the original details. This was a major setback to our enjoyment and should have been disclosed. This property is not suitable for small children as a consequence.
Owner's Response: The vast majorty of our guests are actually pleased to see our extremey gentle dogs. We always make a point of asking the guests if they have a problem with dogs, and if they do, we ensure that they are kept away from the guests at all times. Crosspatch did not indicate a problem until a day or so later, when we immediately secured the dogs. We are sorry that Crosspatch felt unhappy with the situation, and sorry that they had to leave early because ther baby had a virol infection. The rest of the group seemed to thoroughly enjoy their stay.
We have had many families with babies and small children, never having had any similar complaints, so I disagree strongly that this is not a suitable holiday venue for families with any age of children! (Please see other reviews from our extremely satisfied customers.)

Fabulously Luxurious Holiday House

mynonna ELY
Review Submitted: July 14, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Our extended family had the most amazingly comfortable holiday experience in this wonderful house. VERY WELL equiped and beautifully decorated with everything we could possibly want to make us feel very much at home. The bonus of having ensuite/individual bathrooms was such a bonus. The pool was sheer luxury and very much appreciated. The bikes came in very handy for those times when a trip to the village for 'supplies' were needed by the men folk. Our boys loved having the owners dogs around, and they always seemed to sniff us out al fresco meal times!!!! Lots to seek out in the area, beautiful bike rides and punting, and of course, the beaches. Being in this lovely village in Harvest time was lovely and the busyness of the farmers was not at all intrusive. Overall we can say 10/10 to Hugh and Gill for being fantastic hosts to our family. We would love to come and stay again if the opportunity arose and are very confident about our recommendation for this lovely property.

Fleur de Lys review

LTL Waterford, Ireland
Review Submitted: June 9, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My party of 8 adults and 2 kids really enjoyed our week at Fleur de Lys. The house is very spacious and beautifully decorated with the great bonus of each bedroom having their own bathroom so there was never a queue for the loo!! The kitchen is really well equipped with everything you could think of. We spent the majority of our time at the pool and outdoor kitchen area and enjoyed long lazy bbq's most nights. We all took advantage of the games room and all it had to offer. I would happily recommend this house to all my friends and family. Hugh and Gill were great hosts, very discreet but on hand to offer advice on the local area when needed. You could use it as a great base to explore the surrounding area or like us with 2 small kids to relax in and have fun 'at home'. We will definitely come back again.

Glorious Fleur de Lys

Sunflower1 Leixlip, Co Kildare
Review Submitted: June 2, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Myself and my family spent two glorious weeks in the Fleur De Lys with wonderful hosts Hugh and Gill.

The House is absolutely amazing, decorated to exceptionally high standards, equipped with everything you could possibly need to have a great break away. The pool was glorious and there even is a games room for older kids/teenagers.

The location was perfect for visiting the vendee & charentes regions and within easy driving of Planet Sauvage and Remy Martin - if you are interested in sightseeing! It could be quite easy to spend the time lounging by the pool!

All in all over the years we have spent visiting france, this has been one of the best holidays we have had, and certainly the nicest house we have rented. Hugh and Gill are excellent hosts and nothing is to big or small a problem for them. Thanks Hugh & Gill hope to see you same time next year!

Review of holiday home - fleur de lys

skoa essex
Review Submitted: September 9, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had a wonderful holiday in this fantastic house with our friends. The house is very carefully decorated in french chic style and all the rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was especially well equiped. We all played ping pong and used the bikes.

The outside space is beautifully maintained and there is plenty of room to find a quiet spot if you want to get away from everyone for a quiet read!

We did not realise on booking that the owners lived on site - had we known we may not have booked it, but Hugh and Gillian were not imposing at all - we hardly saw them, and at times it was very nice to have them there to ask about places to visit.

The surrounding area immediately outside the small village where the house is, was a bit industrial, (the village where the house is situated was very quiet and quaint) but we still cycled to the local boulangerie and supermarket where the people were very friendly. A short trip in the car takes you to forests and beautiful scenery.

Activities - adventure parc, mervant - climbing through the trees attached to a harness - great fun! Boat ride in marans. To be honest the house is so comfortable (the kids swam, played ping pong and boules and watched english sky tv ) that we didnt need to go anywhere much!

In all we had a very relaxing time in a fabulous house - we would love to go back maybe next year!

Fun and games at Fleur de lLys

Our Pam Northamptonshire
Review Submitted: August 24, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This is a wonderful holiday home for families The house was everything the brochure said and more. The restoration of this traditional french house has been done sympathetically and with flare. We especialy enjoyed the pool and were delighted with all the toys and games which were there for all to use including some for the adults. There was everything in the house equipment wise that one could need and the whole of the premises including the garden was spotless and well maintained. Because our family are very tall it would have been appreciated if there had been King size beds available however for anyone of smaller statue the beds were all very comfortable we were warmly greeted by the owners who could not have done more to facilitate a happy stay for us. Despite the mixed weather we had a very enjoyable stay and would recomend the property.

Having just returned from our holiday at this lovely house we highly recommend this as a must. The accommodation was first class with every mod con. The hosts Jill and Hugh were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. They had a wealth of knowledge of the local area and helped us get the most out of our holiday. Anybody visiting the Vendee region would not be disappointed if they used this accommodation as a base
