Highly recommended

We'd highly recommend this cottage. It was spotless and well-appointed, with lots of useful instructions. We stayed during quite a grey week but the cottage was so cosy it felt like a week of lazy Sundays. The scenery in the area is lovely. The village pub was welcoming with good food. The cottage is well-stocked with books, DVDs and videos, should you need further entertainment. We'll definitely be back and have already recommended it to several friends.

Comfort & Tranquility in The Peak

If you want a comfortable cottage as a base for walking and visiting in the Peak District look no further. It's quiet and well appointed. Which means that everything you need for six persons is available - for once there is adequate cutlery, crockery and a kitchen to match, which is so often not the case. We give it full marks. And the weather was good !

Lilac cottage is furnished to a very high specification with every possible luxury you could wish for, and is set in a delightful quite village surrounded by beautiful scenery. The village pub has a warm and friendly atmosphere serving excellent food. We had a very pleasant stay and hope to return again soon.

Top of the range everything we needed for a great stay.
Cottage was spotless on arrival and welcome pack was a nice touch.
Local area is great for sight seeing and walks etc.
Buxton is only a short drive away and Alton towers is as stated a 40 minute drive through some breath taking countryside. Pool's cavern is also worth a visit on a wet day.
I can recommend and would love to be going back.

We spent just afew days but was the perfect getaway, very clean and fully equiped, we stayed when it was cold and were very cosy in the house, kids loved the dvd selection, teenager and husband loved the broadband. Delightful owners, discreet and very helpful. A high quality property in a charming village, would definately recommend. Smokers beware: no smoking in the garden!?

best holidayhome ever

Lilac-Cottage is the most perfect holidayhome my family and I ever had. Just renovated, stylish, generous and comfortable furnished it was a perfect place to be - even with bad weather. It was a very good starting point to get to local tourist attractions by car and has such romantic-wild and idyllic surroundings, very inviting for shorter and longer walks. Thanks again for such a wonderful holiday. Hope to come back sometime.

Perfect Peak District Retreat

Lilac cottage is gorgeous! It's large but still feels very cozy. Good sized and well maintained garden with an amazing table that fits the whole family. There are lots of games and dvds supplied and therefore great for the kids (we took 3) if you get some bad weather. Two televisions is real bonus. All the furniture etc. is great quality and very comfy. The bath is the biggest I've ever seen. You'll find everything you need in the kitchen. Nothing but praise for the place.

Lots of information about the local area is supplied in an easy-to-read folder. Chelmorton is a very nice village (has a good pub and a play park for little ones), but no village shop, however, Buxton is just a short drive away. I got great customer service from the owners and will definitely go back.

Thanks for a great holiday!

A beuatiful cottage with outstanding amenities. Every thought was given to making our stay enjoyable. There are great walks around the area and it is close to all Peak activities. Even after a week of rain every day we can say that this is the best rental we have used and look forward to returning again. Sara and Bobby and family, July 2008
