Casa Vacanza Conte Ruggero, is a splendid structure with a lot of very interesting and fine architectural details that, as we said to the owners, it belongs more in the South of France or, going closer, on the slopes of Taormina. There are many things to say about this house: the beautiful garden, the great terraces, the great view of Mt.Etna from the top of the building, etc. The hosts without any doubt make the whole experience a positive one; a mixture of oriental demeanor (Maria is from the Philippines, with their known graciousness and hospitality) and the Mediterranean flair of her husband, Agostino, is proper and serious but warm at heart. To top it off, their grown up children, Sabrina a very bubbly and giggling girl and Marco a guy always ready to help to make your stay as good as possible, every time done with honesty, a smile, good will and like his father, good heart.
~Regardless that it is not in the South of France nor Taormina, the property is well located for one to easily reach the road to Mt.Etna, Catania, Syracuse, Giardini and Taormina!! Of course prudence is recommended when driving on any road that has to go through a town to get to the main roads or autostrada. The highways in Sicily are superb, really second to none but the ones just mentioned are a different story. Sicilian drivers have their own rules and the one who gets there first, goes first!! But those Sicilians you might find walking on the street beside you, be it in such places as Catania, Syracuse or Mascali, are amongst the most friendly, helpful and good natured people you would ever encounter. It is quite natural for them to go out of their way to help you find yours!!
~The reader of this report might wonder if it is true that everything is so perfect. Nothing in life is; there were a few minor deficiencies, easy to correct and I’m sure Maria, a savvy and very clever woman will take charge and figure it out on her own. Be sure that the whole family
will always be there for you to have a great time with as few problems as possible.
~What you have read was, more or less what we experienced, once you’re there you will have your own ones. Maybe better, maybe worse, but for sure different!
~To our hosts thank you for so many things!! The Arancinis, the peaches, the local wine, the sparkling wines, etc. and for trying to make us feel welcome every day of our stay! For that special connection I will remember this trip forever! Arrivederci e a presto!!
