A Pleasant Stay in Madrid

Review Submitted: March 31, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We stayed at this flat for a week in March 09. The weather was great and we found Madrid to be a clean and beautiful city.

The flat was clean, quiet, comfortable and just as nice as shown on the photographs. It is furnished more like a home than a holiday let. There are plenty of bars and restaurants and shops nearby. The Madrid Metro is reliable and frequent and so it is easy to get to any part of the city from the nearby stations.

Finally the owner is friendly and helpful taking time to explain what is in the vicinity.
Owner's Response: The apartment has been our family home for years before we decided to move to the countryside. We still like to spend our leisure time walking around the nearby streets and squares when we need to "feel the town". It is really a lovely district.

Three of us rented this apartment for the week of Oct 17 -24 and found it very clean and comfortable with every ammentiy we needed. The location is close to the old historic city and taxis are easily available and reasonable. A grocery store is nearby- 5 minutes walk.
Many thanks to Andreas for his information on Madrid and for maintaiining such a lovely apartment.

The apartment is spacious and comfortable. There are air conditioners in each of the three bedrooms and in the livingroom. The kitchen is small, but functional. It's a nice place.

The neighborhood is fantastic. Quiet, yet with plenty of nice places to eat, close to a big supermarket, and with easy access to two metro lines.

It would be nice if the owner provided some information on arriving at the place, instead of leaving that entirely up to the client. Some details of the apartment need repair (light switch in the kitchen is falling off the wall, the buzzer to let someone into the building doesn't work), and more than one key for four people would be appreciated (especially since the buzzer isn't working).

Overall, a nice, comfortable apartment in a great part of Madrid.

Great place for a family - Central location

Review Submitted: July 21, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This apartment is as nice or nicer than the photos show. We were very impressed by its pretty decor, how well equipped the kitchen is, and its central location. The only down side is that the master bedroom bed is just a full size (double). The owner is very professional, met us at the apartment, showed us how to work everything, had maps showing the local restaurants, markets, and attractions and the metro/subway stops that are just 1 block in each direction. Overall, it was a fantastic stay!

Apartment in Classic Madrid Neighborhood

Julio Mario Bogotá, Colombia
Review Submitted: July 8, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We had a fantastic stay in Madrid in large part because the apartment was extremely comfortable, well decorated and well located. Those looking to experience the traditional "castizo" Madrid will find this to be an ideal apartment with many wonderful "terrazas" throughout the neighborhood. At the same time it is also a great base to explore the city's main tourist sites with easy access with a great Metro system (just two blocks away).

No matter what your objective is while visiting Madrid, this apartment will make your stay a memorable experience.

We will no doubt look to return in the future, but in the meantime have already recommended the apartment to friends and family.

Nice location

Review Submitted: June 19, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Family of four stayed here for three nights in June 2009. Although the location is off the tourist trail, we enjoyed the opportunity to stay in a 'real' Madrid neighborhood away from the souvenir hawkers. Several metro lines nearby can take you anywhere in Madrid. There is a lovely square two blocks south, and plenty of banks, internet cafes, shops and restaurants nearby. The owner (his family's apartment) provides a helpful map of area shops. The apartment itself is well appointed and beautifully decorated, with more than adequate kitchenware and furnishings. Minor complaints: The mattresses were quite hard, we had some difficulty in running the air conditioning for more than 10 minutes due to leakage, and there is a bit too much noise in the building from other tenants. However, we would certainly stay here again, and thank the owner for his attention to detail.
Owner's Response: We are currently seeking to change the installation of the bedroom AC unit, the one that leaks sometimes (though the AC in the living room works properly). We always warn our guests not to run it more than half an hour at the time. Anyway the unit is too powerfull for the size of the room and 10 minutes is enough to cool down the place before falling asleep. The powerfull fan in the room help to have a good rest.

Our neibourghood is normally quiet and respectfull (we have no complaints about). It is true however that in Spain we have late dinner habits, and in summertime people use to open the windows in the evening when air refreshes.

Magical Madrid

teri3030 Miami, Florida U.S.A.
Review Submitted: April 29, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Our first trip to Madrid was a sensational experience thanks, in largel part, to the wonderful hospitality and the excellent accommodations we had in this magical city. Andres assisted us every step of the way prior to our visit, providing us with transportation options and responding to each and every one of our inquiries. When we arrived in Madrid, Andres was waiting for us in the apartment, and even came to our rescue when we got lost driving into the city from the airport. He helped us with our luggage and provided us with maps of the local area with suggestions for dining options and church services nearby. The apartment itself was located in a lovely neighborhood, minutes to all main attractions, but quiet in the evening for our family of six. The apartment was quite spatious, immaculately clean and newly renovated with modern ammenities throughout. The living room views were also beautiful including flower pots in the windowsills. Every detail was considered by Andres and it truly showed. We opted to drive in the city and we were able to find free street parking in the neighborhood every night of our stay. However, the metro stop was less than two blocks away had we chosen to go that route. Additionally, the price of the apartment was a great value because we would have had to pay at least twice as much for two rooms in a hotel. Moreover, we saved on breakfast and some lunches and dinners by shopping at the supermarket one block walking distance from the apartment. We stayed in Madrid for four days and saw all the important sights. We recommend the Madridvision bus for a good starting tour of the city. Also, daytrips to Toledo, El Escorial and Valle de Los Caidos are a must. It was always comforting to return to Andres' apartment every night for a restful sleep. I highly recommend this apartment to my family and friends. Andres is a true gentleman and the apartment totally exceeded all of our expectations!
Owner's Response: Even if you can get here by car and find parking places in the very street, I would highly recommend to hire a car just for the day or two you need for short trips to Toledo or Segovia. It is quite comfortable and easy to take the modern metro lines of Madrid that you have nearby.

Great Madrid Base

KiwiAKL New Zealand
Review Submitted: October 14, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Two couples from New Zealand stayed here for 5 nights with 2 childtren aged 7 and 9 years. The apt is very well provided with dishwasher, washing machine and kitchen utensils. I personally would have liked a coffee plunger.
There is even a lift to get your luggage (and you if you want!) upstairs.
It was a very convenient location only a few meto stops from Sol and with 3 metro lines all with in a 5 min walk from the apt. The supermarket is also only a 5 min walk and there lots of convenience stores and fruit shops nearby. A 2 min walk in the circle there is a children's playground.
The owner is very helpful with recommendations. I would recommend to all.
Owner's Response: In fact we are less than 30 minutes by walk far from any tourist interest spot in town: Royal Palace, Flee Market (known as the biggest in Europe), Prado, Thyssen and Modern Art museums and, of course, the old town built by the Habsbourg dinasty in the early XV c. However the location is quiet and safe to walk around at late hours and 700 meters far from the US Embassy (Calle Serrano).

Wonderful value

Margs Amarillo TX. USA
Review Submitted: September 17, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Property was exactly as described. Great neighborhood, very convenient. Owner was extremely nice and very helpful with great tips about the area. Apartment was very homey and was an exceptional value. I would highly recommend this property.
Owner's Response: We wish all renters are as respectful with the property as the ones we had since we started. That is the best way to preserve the value of an apartment that has been our family home for years.
Thanks to you in advance and welcome to Madrid any time of the year.

Andrés
