Heaven on Earth

When we arrived at our Tuscan Villa, we were in awe!! La Torre was absolutely gorgeous and the grounds were so beautiful. We were so impressed with the beautifully decorated interior from the impressive Tuscan kitchen to the wrought iron four poster master bed. We enjoyed relaxing in the hammock in the midst of the olive trees, and viewing the gorgeous sunsets from the top floor as well as the terrace complete with adobe fireplace! The owner, James was such a great host and so helpful with recommendations. Thanks again for the wonderful welcoming basket, and the wonderful wine! We can't wait to return to this paradise in the near future as it was the highlight of our Italian journey. Thanks so much for thinking of everything!

We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful week at Montecchio! It was more beautiful then we had imagined. The grounds and the views are breathtaking. The owners have thought of everything right down to the well-stocked fridge, the welcome basket and of course the wine. The villas are beautifully furnished and very comfortable. James (the owner) has a wealth of knowledge of the area & was a great help with our daily itineraries on our first trip to Tuscany. We could not imagine staying any other place in Tuscany besides Montecchio! We will definitely be back!

Montecchio

I have dreamt forever about going to Tuscany..they were filled beyond my expectation. Our stay in the II Prato was perfect. A home away from home. Every amenity you could think of...plus a welcome basket, a refrigerator filled with staples, and the staple of life...wine for every night! What more could one ask for. We never wanted to leave, but the gracious host greeted us every morning with an itinerery ...we were totally unseasoned European travelers and he took us under his wing. We visited the small villages on the hilltops, ate in off the beaten track restaurants and even had a special, individual tour of a winery! Even without all the extra amenities, the home is located high on a hill surrounded by olive groves. The entrance through a cypress lined road is surrounded by vineyards, even a fig tree with ripe figs available. If anyone is going to tuscany and can't decide where to stay they will do themselves an injustice by not staying here. WE WILL BE BACK!!

We have just returned from a perfect week at Il Prato. The owners have doing everything possible to make this a perfect holiday home. The property is situated on a beautifully maintained wine estae within close proximity to lovely Italian villages with shops and restaurants to try out .The house itself is well laid out with lovely options for al fresco dining .It was extremely tastefully furnished and great thought had been given to ensuring everything necessary for a perfect break from a wonderful welcome basket to indoor and outdoor games ,dvd's etc.
The pool was large and again perfectly maintained and although shared with the two other houses this did not cause a problem.

We would most certainly recommend this property and would certainly return ourselves.

Truly Extraordinary

What an extraordinary week we had staying at Montecchio! While being quite familiar with the area and having stayed at a number of hotels in Siena and the surrounding countryside, we opted to rent something for a week that gave us the ease of feeling at home and was also in proximity to some of the best cities in Tuscany. We were excited to learn of Montecchio and rented La Torre for the week. Upon arrival, we were treated to a “welcome basket” of cheeses, pasta, foods, and, best of all, the fabulous wines produced there. The kitchen was well-appointed and the living room made us feel very comfortable and was beautifully decorated. The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely and were spotless. We were travelling with our two-year-old son, so the extra indoor space and everyday comforts made such a difference for us. The property itself was absolutely delightful. We took walks, kicked the football around, used the pool, grilled, and enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The caretaker was also available for any questions we had. Our time in Italy was a vacation in every sense of the word, and I have to say that the highlight was La Torre at Montecchio. We felt very much at home and had everything we needed…and then some! We look forward to returning in the fall and to enjoying the wine and olive harvest.

A Well Kept Secret

Review Submitted: April 19, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
If you are looking for a place in Tuscany, stop searching now and book this one. Out of the many properties my family has stayed at, this is in the top two (and is the best we have stayed at in the Tuscany region). The property description is humble at best; it is well maintained and overlooks the Tuscan countryside. Located at the southern end of the Chianti Road, the location is ideal for venturing out to explore the region or you can remain on the property for peace and quiet. The property owners are very welcoming, very helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas, and able to provide recommendations to suit your needs. We definitely will return here and will recommend this to our friends!!
N.B. A car is a necessity.
