What a wonderful property in a wonderful location! The house was spotless, exactly as described and very comfortable. It is the perfect location for families with pets and there are great beaches nearby. We loved it and will be going back again next year!
Owner's Response: thank you for your review, If owners were able to review, you and your family, plus dog would be 6 star! best wishes Colin

Family holiday

Great location just by the sea but still very peaceful. Nice self-contained appartment and the pool is ideal for children.

A variety of good restaurants a short drive away plus a few local bars and restaurants within walking distance. Very nice beaches close by and some good golf courses.

We have been twice and enjoyed both holidays.
Owner's Response: Glad you had a good time in El Calon, I have bought a boat and a couple of Kayaks since you were here, for guests to use for fishing and adventure on the high seas! Hope you and your family are well. Colin and Madline

Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house. The views are magnificent, especially the wonderful sun rises. We very much enjoyed BBQing in the garden with the views of the sea. Colin was very helpful and knowledgable about the area. The house is well maintained and spotlessly clean with comfortable furniture. We enjoyed going into San Juan de los Terreros and Villaricos. A wonderful quiet and peaceful area of Spain, well worth a visit at least once a year.

Laid back paradise

My family spent 2 weeks in El Calon in August and we all totally agree that this is probably the most relaxed holiday we've ever had. My sons (8 and 5) had an absolute ball, let them out in the morning and they're gone until they get hungry or thirsty. The village is very quiet and safe, no traffic, and the kids have loads to do, rockpooling, exploring etc. The pool at the house was excellent, never too busy and literally outside the front door. If you like snorkelling this is the place for you, with the sea abour 30 metres from your back door, loads of fish, i even saw a Moray eel on our last day. Basically if you want a quiet family holiday, this is the place to go. A car is needed for shopping, eating out etc. but Colin the owner and host is very obliging and would never see anyone stuck for anything.
We're planning on going back next year, and can't wait.

We had a lovely week in Colins house.Everything that we needed was there and if it was'nt Colin got us it even down to luvely home made chilly oil and garlic.
The house was very comfortable and well appointed.
It was clean and modern. We loved that position of the house, right next to the sea, which was crystal clear and excellent for snorkling. We didnt want to hire a car so for a nominal fee Colin run us around wherever we wanted to go.
Colin himself was a very nice guy very friendly and laid back, a gentleman in every sense of the word.We would recommend this place for a quiet and relaxing holiday.

I've stayed in El Calon four times now and every time it gets harder to leave. The houses are spacious, clean and very well presented. The swimming pool now has solar heating to make jumping in that little bit easier, and is great for kids. Colin is a fantastic host and knows all the best places to visit in the surrounding area.
El Calon is a small, quiet village with a very friendly bar. Just a short drive away is San Juan de los Terreros with long clean beaches, lots of restaurants and a supermarket. In the other direction is Garrucha with is huge market once a week, and Mojacar slightly further on with more beaches, shops and restaurants.
El Calon is also a great place to stay if you want to visit other places in Spain. It's approximately 3 hours drive to Granada where you can visit the beautiful Alhambra Palace.
I would highly recommend staying here, it's great value for money and the perfect place to go to relax and get some sun. It's also definitely worth waking up to watch the spectacular sunrise over the sea!

Life's a beach Northampton

My family and I spent a week here last year and we've been twice before. It's very close to the beach and the sea is so clean and clear. You can tempt the sea creatures in the rock pools with bits of chicken on a fishing line and you get to see all sorts. There is a little taverna about 200m away that's very nice but we tend to go to the supermarket and stock up on BBQ stuff. It's very quiet but if you want its and easy 20 minute drive to lots of very nice restaurants and bars.
10 minutes away by car is the most amazing horseshoe shaped bay with a beautiful beach. Very sheltered and calm and with the convenience of a little bar were you can get food and beer. We spotted a large pod of dolphins just outside the bay.
Try chatting up the owner that lives nearby and see if he'll take you out in his four wheel drive for a bit of off-roading. You'll need brown trousers. More fun at the Quad trail and the karting circuit. Huge fun if there's a few of you driving . Well run and safe.
I felt we got good value in this rental. Every convenience, spotlessly clean and great having an en suite bathroom. To tell the truth we didn't spend much time inside unless we were sleeping.
PS when we were there they were just starting to install a huge solar heating system for the pool. Ideal for wimps like me.
