A superb getaway

This was the most perfect place to unwind and relax. Set amongst tranquil olive groves in a beautiful location, it feels a little remote but this adds to its charm and we really can't recommend Cortijo las Rosas highly enough.

The casita we stayed in (Liebre) was flawless. Well appointed, really comfortable, clean, spacious and with a lovely private outdoor courtyard, ideal for eating al fresco or having a barbecue. In fact everything there has been well thought out, beautifully designed and stylish. The swimming pool is fantastic with views over the hills and we spent much of our time there; either in the pool, lying by it reading in the shade of the olive trees, or in the evening watching the stars and the swallows - sounds cliched, but it all really was without fault.

Gilly and Marylynne are perfect hosts and made us feel at home straight away, they really care that you enjoy your time there. Always ready to answer your questions and give advice on the area, but never ever in your way or intrusive. Their driving instructions on how to reach them and places to visit are impossibly spot on and the welcome pack we ordered with them was ideal and well worth ordering.

As mentioned it is a little remote and the last part of the road is windy and a bit rough, but we had no problems with our hire car on it and just took it slowly. Saying that, getting around is no problem, it's a short drive to the local supermarket at Rute and we did day trips to both the Alhambra Palace and Cordoba. We could easily have gone out and seen more, but to be honest it was too relaxing to stay at the casita and walk through the olive groves that we didn't feel the need to.

Again, we highly recommend a stay there.

We so much enjoyed our week at Las Rosas. The location is stunning, in the tranquility of the Olive Groves above Iznajar. Gilly and Marylynne have done a fantastic job transforming the old farm into a beautiful place to holiday. The casitas are perfect , very tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and equipped - we lacked nothing, and if we had they would have got it for us! The poolside was idyllic , especially when the swallows came to visit each evening. Gilly and Marylynne looked after us so kindly, giving us lots of tips on places to visit, how to get through towns that had roadworks and where to get the cheapest and most convenient parking.

We found Las Rosas to be a perfect place to relax but also for those days when we wanted to visit some of the amazing places in the vicinity. Granada, Ronda and Cordoba as well as some of the smaller more local towns were all excellent trips, easily done in a day. We even managed to get to Mini Holliwood in Almeria- a fair journey at nearly 2 hrs 45 but our teenage son assured us it was well worth the effort!

Before we booked we had a good look at the website which is excellent and gives lots of really helpful information . We'd read that some guests hadn't been too happy with the road - so were very pleasantly surprised - we felt it was a good , well surfaced road - recently re done I think. The last 800m of track were fine in our little Corsa - even when fully loaded, we just had to take it slowly.

We thoroughly recommend Las Rosas and very much hope to revisit before too long.

CORTIJO LAS ROSAS

The most peaceful and beautiful location with the highest standard of accomodation finished to superb detail by owners who have achieved the highest standards in presentation and maintenance. Customer service in terms of guidance and recommendations is excellent with a well thought out and comprehensive welcome pack worth opting for. Beautifully sited pool with dramatic views of the almond grove valley and lovely private patios for al fresco dining. We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending any of the casitas. A car is probably essential to take advantage of the ease of access to Cordoba, Granada and Seville although once there you may find it difficult to tear yourself away. The owners are British but wonderfully steeped in the Spanish culture and way of life, leaving you to your own devices but available whenever necessary. We cant wait to return.

Wonderful relaxing week in tranquil, pretty countryside - a world away from the costas!
The property was immaculate, beautifully maintained and has everything you need for a restful holiday. Little touches like handwash in the bathrooms, starter stock for your bug repellent and BBQ just makes your holiday easy.
Excellent advice from friendly owner.
Lots to do in the area if you wish with wonderful local restaurants.
A great place for a quiet restful holiday.

Our 2 weeks holidays in Cortijo Las Rosas were like being in paradise. We are still excited of that peaceful place surrounded by olive trees and soft hills. Our accommodation was superbly furnished in Maurian style, very comfortable and clean. Our hosts were very helpful and had an excellent knowledge of all places to go. Large pool with a great view on the Andalusian country side. We can really recommend the place!!!
