Our galway vacation

Flemish Temse,Belgium
Review Submitted: October 19, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Very nice, home away from home. There were seven of us staying, and the house was clean & fresh, very pleasantly decorated, roomy, very convenient to the city 4/5 Min's by bus to Eyre sq or 2/3 minutes to the west of the city (Dominick street i think !) with traditional bars playing Gaelic music well worth a visit. We were able to prepare all our own meals as the place is fully equipped with all kitchen accoutrement's & the washer & dryer in the laundry were a great benefit. We generally got the local bus in a & out of the city as they ran every 15mins or so & the three or four times we went to salthill promenade we liked to walk (good exercise) in 10/15 mins we also had a car & drove from there to tourist attraction such as kylemore abbey & connamara which is truly breathe taking we were so lucky to have gotten spectacular weather for this time of year . I'd highly recommend this house if you decide to visit in the city of the tribes.

Great House Great Location peaceful but central...

Review Submitted: October 2, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Having returned from a most enjoyable week long stay in Galway,we feel compelled to convey our total satisfaction with our wonderful choice of holiday accommodation. On our entry to the property,(Fergal was there to greet us) we were suitably impressed, the spacious lounge had very nice & comfy leather sofas a good size TV & our two teenage boys were delighted to here there was free Wi-Fi to boot, the kitchen/dining area is quite large & fully equipped, to meet all your requirements, with a washer & dryer located in the laundry room adjacent, upstairs we were very happy with the sleeping arrangements everything was meticulously clean & fresh, nicely decorated bedrooms with comfortable double beds & good size single ones for the boys with freshly laundered towels on each of the beds. A good size family bathroom & the Master bedroom having an en-suite with electric shower.
The Location of the house was Great, there is a bus stop located just two minutes from the house that ran directly into the city "every twenty" minutes our two boys were again delighted as it gave them a bit of freedom to get away & enjoy themselves in the center of the city.Salthill was only a short fifteen minute walk from the house via a little short cut called millers lane where my husband & i enjoyed several bracing strolls along the promenade breathing in that fresh sea air.We had our own car with us but i feel it not necessary to have one because the house is quite central and access to everything is within easy reach weather walking, by bus, or a taxi fare from the center only eight to ten euro.I must recommend a lovely local bar/restaurant called "Sheridans" you would be better to get a taxi or drive there but the food was wonderful (not cordon bleu) more homely with lots of local people & a great atmosphere.
To sum up we would most definitely recommend you stay at this lovely house, with a very obliging host....
Thank you.

galway house

The property fitted the bill from the perspective of the family, spacious and clean. What it lacked was any info on the day to day running of the place. We had initially had difficulty finding the house so a map with booking confirmation would be useful. It took us a while to work out the hot water which ran out very quickly so bathing the toddler was problematic and water had to be topped up with kettles. Six adults queuing for the en suite shower needed a rota! No instructions for heating could be found fortunately we had unusually good weather so it was not needed. The wheely bins were full of smelly rubbish ,we managed a dash outside when we heard the refuse cart but they did not take everything. Fergal was away so a relative kindly stood in but was not au fait with area or day to day running. The house is a good twenty minute walk to Salt Hill with another 20 mins from there to the city (at least) so we took car down to promenade and walked from there. You really need a car but beware because the traffic is very heavy and trying to leave the city in the rush hour requires about 30 mins extra on you trip to leave the city

Owner's Response: I feel i must put my hands up on this occasion & i regret to hear the dissatisfaction of this review but i was away that particular week & I had someone stand in for me while i was away, unfortunately as the saying goes, " if you want a job done right you have to do it yourself ".
However having said that i think the other very positive & complimentary reviews reflect the overall satisfaction guests experience when staying at the property,& i will endeavour to see this does not reoccur, incidentally you can see from the reveiw of the people that stayed the following week, they were extremely happy with the property,it's location & close proximity to Salthill & the serviced bus route two minutes from the house that runs directly into the city centre every" twenty minutes " in a five minute journey time so i would take the other reviews as a guide to the property on this occasion.

Holiday in galway

Quillet Sevenoaks, Kent, England
Review Submitted: June 17, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My wife and I found the owner Fergal o`Boyle to be very friendly and hospitable. On arrival he was particularly helpful.
The house was in good order and contained everything required except perhaps a dishwasher ( but this was not really necessary for us). The beds were comfortable and the whole house was clean and well maintained. The house was cleaned and bed linen, towels etc. were changed once a week.
The East/West aspect front and rear was excellent for sunlight with the double opening doors separating the Lounge and the Dining/Kitchen rooms. Very pleasant small gardens front and rear. The front of the house looks out on a large open communal green.
Good and ample furniture provided and the Wi Fi was a great benefit.
The nearest shops were about 15 minutes walk away. There is nothing really to do in the immediate area. You have to go to the City centre or Salthill.
Unless there is a quick route that we were unaware of, it took about 20 minutes to walk to Salthill Prom. To go to Galway centre it was only a 3 minute walk to the bus stop. buses ran every 20 minutes. We took a bus most days. At night we took a taxi which generally cost 10 euros
Overall we were very happy with the house and enjoyed our stay.

Great find in Galway City

Review Submitted: March 23, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We were 8 adults attending a wedding in Galway from the UK and decided to stay in this house.

Communication with Fergal was easy adn meetng him to be let into the property was simple.

The house is large and bright and nicely furnished and nothing is too far by taxi or a 10/15 minute walk whcih was great. The street is quiet and all beds are suitable for adults.

We wanted to stay a few more days but had to come back to work!

A great time in Galway

We had a wonderful family Thanksgiving in Galway. The location of the house was perfect- allowing us easy access to both Galway City and all the area sites. We enjoyed a welcoming box of chocolates along with tea and coffee after our long flight and we were relieved to have the owner lead us directly to the house. The house was perfect for our needs, with abundant space and a full-size washer and dryer. Everything was neat and clean and the owner checked in periodically to make sure our needs were being met. I would certainly recommend this house for any family traveling to Galway and its environs. It's a perfect location for a memorable trip to Western Ireland.

The property was exactly as described and is a lot bigger than it appears in the photos. We had a wonderful time - the house is really well located and easy to get to. The accommodation is extremely well maintained, very clean; the owner is very pleasant and gave us helpful advice on where to go and what to do. The house, although centrally located is in a quiet residential area - so there's wonderful peace and quiet at night. Great time - recommend this property and the area to anyone - without reservation.

One home to return too

Review Submitted: August 25, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This was an ideal house, centrally situated and convenient for the coast and the city. It was in a quiet residential area.
Right from the start on our arrival it felt like a home. There were three adults and two children to cater for and it certainly suited our requirements. The house was furnished and equipped to cover our basic needs. We were able to relax and make ourselves at home. Certainly suits family requirements.
We will definitely be contacting the Owner again requesting the use of his house and be recommending the property to our family and friends.
