Fantastic location and a very luxurious apartment

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Stuart & Anne’s apartment in Lagos Marina. This is a wonderfully finished and appointed apartment with all the furniture being of high quality and both bedrooms are equally appointed which is one of the reasons we chose this apartment being 2 adult couples.

The attention to detail right down to the automatic garage doors and the security code on the front door working perfectly which isn’t always the case in many properties.

The location is excellent, a 10 minute stroll to the old town and a 10 – 15 minute walk to the massive Meia Praia beach with many other beaches being very near by. The ideally located Pingo Doce supermarket means you can shop fresh frequently with a wide variety of choice.

We also liked very much that the old town still retains its character with a large population of Portuguese who are very welcoming in to their town. Most spoke very good English although they always said “only a little”. We visited quite a few other resorts and none came had the same feel as Lagos. I normally get restless after 10 days but for the first time I could have stayed longer than the 14 days we booked.

You can eat relatively cheaply or you can push the boat out but one thing you won’t be short of choice. The Casa Rosa took us back to our youth, very good value for money and the “Power Hour” is a must. Explore there’s loads of choice.

The only slight criticism is the noise from the road which is next to the bedrooms, which did seem busy throughout the night. It may be because we live rurally and our friends live in a cul de sac, so if you live in an urban setting this may not be a problem.

Overall a fantastic location and a very luxurious apartment.
Owner's Response: Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a glowing review.

'Another fantastic hloiday in Lagos'

The Carets colne, lancs, England
Review Submitted: September 10, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Just a quick note to thank Stuart and Anne for letting us rent their wonderful apartment in the middle of August 09. I won't repeat what all the other reviewers have said, suffice to say, everything exceeded our expectations.
The apartment is in a great location on the marina, overlooking the lovely tranquil lake with it's very own black swans.
This was our 4th visit to Lagos and certainly won't be our last, it really does get better every visit. We were lucky to have wall to walll sunshine and didn't see a cloud in two weeks, on the down side though, it was a bit too hot to really appreciate the lovely balcony during the day but we did manage a few bottles of wine out there last thing at night.
The apartment was v.clean and well maintained by a great team who are also really friendly.
A great bonus with the apartment if you have a car is the secure underground carpark with your very own space, also the lift from there takes you right outside the front door which is very handy after a shopping trip to Pingo Doce, and for getting your suitcases in and out.
Overall, a fantastic holiday, a great apartment and we will certainly recommend it to our friends,
Thanks again Stuart and Anne,
Gill , Lancs.

We had a fab time, Lagos is lovely & the apt was great, its so homely and has great space. Thanks a million. The climate over there is so nice with the breeze. We will definitely go back again. Tony and I were even saying we would go again next year! I suppose it’s a bit early to be planning next year.

Lagos Holiday

sue21 Yorkshire
Review Submitted: July 12, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We have visited Lagos on three occasions and stayed on the other side of the estuary.

We stayed at Stuart and Ann's property from 27 June to 11th July 2009. We found everything superb, as described on the web site. The apartment was spotlesly clean, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. As we were there for two weeks and wanted a relaxing holiday we decided taxi to the property so no waiting for a hire car at Faro airport, straight to the apartment. The apartment is on the marina complex overlooking a lagoon, so peaceful for lazy lunch on the balcony. A ten minute walk from Meia praia beach, the long sandy main beach in Lagos, maybe twenty minutes to the towm beach with it's rocky backdrop. The tourist train from the marina can take you to Dona Ana beach, reportedly the most photographed beach in the algarve. Supermarket less than five minutes walk, brilliant fish counter! Lagos is still a wonderful town, lots of good restaurants, shops and weather was superb. Lot's do do if you want to be if you want an action packed holiday, boat trips to the grottos and dolphin watching. Overall a wonderfull holiday and Portugal is still good value for money, despite it being in the euro zone! We would thoroghly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting an enjoyable holiday in Lagos!
Owner's Response: Geoff, Sue, Thank you very much for taking time to add a review comment.

We hope all goes well with the new puppy.

Apartment exactly as described - immaculately clean and nicely furnished. Lagos its self is a nice relaxing and safe place. Lots of excellent places to eat, catering for all types of diner. Would certainly recommend it for couples.

My travellers tip : Stay away from the sardines

A Winter in Lagos Marina

Happier on Holiday Eye, Suffolk
Review Submitted: April 7, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We arrived at the apartment in January and stayed until April! It was the perfect base for a three month winter holiday, so spotlessly clean, luxuriously furnished and perfectly equipped. The bedrooms were particularly gorgeous with good bed linen and a television in each room - luxury for me when the football and rugby was on as I was able to retreat from the lounge! The balcony was bliss and we came back tanned and very healthy looking from the maximum sun which reached us from early afternoon until sunset. The Marina is swish and chic, feels very safe and buzzes, even in the winter months. Lagos is a beautiful town, with lots going on all the time.
We would strongly recommend this apartment for it's location, comfort and furnishing. The owners were very attentive to our needs and we were made to feel most welcome in their beautiful 2nd home. We will not be telling our friends about this gem - we want to keep the secret for ourselves!!! If you want a perfect holiday in Lagos, then this apartment is an excellent choice.

Lovely apartment in great location

Review Submitted: October 27, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
This apartment is just as described. It is very comfortable: the beds are king size, with lovely pillows (plus extra in the wardrobes). The furniture is of a very high quality, the kitchen is well equipped, the bathrooms are immaculate as are the communal areas like the corridors, lifts and underground carpark. Sean, the representative is very attentive and helpful. A car is not essential, as there is ample public transport, including the train station, which is literally round the corner. But it would be a travesty if you didn't visit Burgau, Alvor, Carvoiero and all the beautiful beaches on this coastline!
A leisurely stroll around the marina and across the bridge will take you into town (10-15 mins walk) where you will find Adega de Marina. In the height of summer the locals queue outside to get a table; this is a good clue to a good restaurant! The food is simple: fish with boiled potatoes or meat with chips, but it is tasty, unfussy and great value for money. And you will love the atmosphere, it has great hustle and bustle!
PS, don't tell anyone how lovely Lagos is, we don't want it to be spoiled!
You must also visit Linda's bar on Meia Praia beach. Menu is very tasty and reasonably priced for seafront. Avoid the fish restaurant along from Linda's Bar (the one with a play area at the front). They don't have a price list, they charge by weight, and you WILL be ripped off!!
Buy the local wine in the supermarket, it is cheap but tasty.

Thundery but great all the same!

Gorgeous Apartment! Just what i needed and felt very safe being a single lady. Once the storms had passed over i was able to explore all the restaurants Ann had recommended to me. I will have to return as i didn't manage to sample them all!

Facilities are all within easy reach and not having been to Portugal before I was impressed what was on offer.

An amazing holiday, the only problem i had was that when the storms were over head, i was unable to leave apartment which wasn't too bad as the apartment is very nice indeed. But all the TV went out so being a senior citizen didnt have an ipod and only brought CD's, a CD /dvd player would be a useful asset, incase of thunder storms...

I will return!
