Excellent Holiday

Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We have just spent a wonderfully relaxing 3 weeks at Vila Mea. The villa is fantastic - finished and equipped to a very high standard with everything you could possibly need. The garden is secluded with lots of places to relax, either by the pool or in the shade on one of the many benches placed around the garden.

This was our first visit to Portugal and we could not have picked a better area. There are shops and a bakers close by. Lovely countryside with lots of places to see. The coast is a short drive away and Spain 10 minutes.

The owners are friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. I would not hesitate in recommending Vila Mea to my friends.

A week by the river Minho

The house is lovely and spacious and very well-equipped for self-catering. The garden and pool are great for relaxing and playing sports. We felt comfortable that it matched the description accurately. The house was clean and tidy and very well-looked after.

The surrounding region is very pretty and with a car, there are lovely towns and villages to explore along the river and the coast and the drive into Spain is quick and easy. The area does not seem to be very touristy which was just what we were looking for.

In terms of customer service, our dealings with the owners all went very smoothly from arranging the booking over email to the logistics of payment and the exchanging of keys for the property.

I would definitely recommend this property to other people who are looking for the opportunity to get away from their busy lives and explore the northern part of Portugal. The location of the property is convenient - the drive from Porto is very easy and well sign-posted.

We spend 10 days in the villa. The villa was clean and the owner provided good service. One day the swimmingpool turned green(alges) and the owner took care of it right away. The property was private and well equipped. The supermarket and restaurants were close to the villa. You will certainly need a car: the environment is very beautiful. The are several lovely beaches and they are not too crowded. We went to Porto, Braga, Viano do Castello and lots of other smalll villages. We would also recommend to visit Spain (coast, Vigo etc.) We had a lovely holiday with great weather, only one day of rain!

HOLIDAY TONIC

EDNA & NABHA LONDON
Review Submitted: September 3, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We found this an ideal centrally place villa to explore this wonderful region of Portugal. The villa was large and roomy with ample amenities; having a very homely atmosphere for us to enjoy, and owners that were both obliging and helpful. We found we had a good choice of restaurants within walking distance and supermarkets just mintutes away by car. This was a portuguese tonic for us both and highly recommended for its charm and comfort.

A Great Villa in an Unspoilt Part of Portugal

Ajac Rugby, UK
Review Submitted: September 2, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
The Villa was everything described in the advertisement. Lots of space, good sized bedrooms, plenty of equipment. It is well maintained with a housekeeper and pool man who come in each week. The Villa is ideal for lazy days by the pool or expending a bit of energy playing table tennis. The local amenities provides all the basics and O Lavrador is a great restaurant just round the corner.
The Villa is also a great location to base yourself to head to the river, the beaches of Moledo and Caminha, the walled town of Valenca and across into Spain to Tui. There are many other places to visit within 20 minutes or so. The region has few tourists (mainly from Spain) but not enough to alter the character. This means the markets are generally well worth a visit.
With the owner providing lots of info and help, this completed all the ingredients required to make me happily recommend this villa and to plan a return trip soon.

Superb villa, highly recommended!

We spent one week with our 2 children in the villa and had a fantastic time!

Our hosts were very helpful before the start of our holiday and also providing free local guides, maps and one "home-made" folder with a lot of useful information about the Minho region (excellent restaurant suggestions!).

The villa is very spacious and either the front or pool gardens are lovely. Our children loved those and the orchard to explore and play. The house itself is big, clean and extremelly confortable with two big lounges (one of them overlooking the swimming pool) and one classic decorated dinning room.

Plus we really liked north Portugal, altought the weather wasn't always great (some rainy days) the scenery was stunnig... From Valenca to Viana des Castelos we visited wonderful villages along the river/coast. We had one of our best breaks.

We would definitely go back and recommend it!
