Apartment is amazing

Review Submitted: September 30, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We stayed at this apartment in August as a family with 2 young children. Gail, the owner meet us when we arrived & gave us a tour of the old town which was so helpful. The apartment was exactly as described and the location is great. Everything was within walking distance and the local transport system is also very good so you can travel to other places.
We have previously stayed in some very basic apartments so it was lovely to stay somewhere with so much character. The apartment was very big and clean and we could not fault anything.
Nice was wonderful and we deffinetely would return and would certainly return to this apartment.

This really is a one-of-a-kind apartment, absolutely faboulus! The bulding is from 1650, and we just loved the apartment with all of it's Old World atmosphere and charm and we will certainly be back! The owner Gail who lives in Nice just a few minutes away from the apartment is very kind and helpful. The kitchen is fully equipped , in fact the whole apartment is very well-appointed and the owner Gail has thought of every little detail! Everything is there for a great vacation, including the wonderful feeling of staying in a building from the 17th century. The two bedrooms are on the second floor, absolutely super-romantic and with very high ceilings and Old World decor and the two doublebeds are very confortable. On the first floor is the bathroom with tub, bidé and basin plus French windows that is also very romantic, we thought it was super, and the living-room with it's arches in the ceiling is great and the kitchen has French windows. Me and my husband and my parents celebrated my mother's 76th birthday here and stayed from March 26 through 30 2009, and we all loved the apartment just as much! In fact, my mother has already set her mind into going back later this year. The apartment is very clean and the owner Gail provides you with a booklet with personal tips about Nice that she has written herself along with a lot of other items like beach-towels, a trolley for shopping etc.It is also possible to call her during the stay if you have questions. From the apartment there is a wonderful view of place Rossetti, where there are lots of restaurants, shops, bakeries, cafes etc., and across the street is a little supermarket that stays open until 9 pm every day. There is a larger Monoprix nearby, as is the gare Routière, the main bus station, and the apartment is also very close to the beach, Cours Saleya and Place Massena. All in all an absolutely wonderful stay in a faboulus apartment in a great city, and I would recommend this apartment to anyone. The building does not have an elevator, but my 76-year-old parents did not experience any trouble walking the stairs to the apartment, nor with the flight of stairs in the apartment.Staying here means getting a lot more than your moneys worth and I would certainly recommend staying here to anyone, it is the perfect choice for a great vacation!

Canadians in Nice

The location of this property is the real drawing card. The description of the property is very acccurate.
The property was clean and well-maintained and in an excellent location, close to tram and train for day trips.
The owner provided excellent service and was very helpful and accomodating. Owner provided book of recommended restaurants and helpful hints.
We would definitely recommend this property to almost anyone.
Being centrally located, evening activities tend to extend into the wee hours on weekends. Owner provided fans for white noise and earplugs. Beds were very comfortable.
Many thanks for an excellent vacation

A Pleasant Surprise

Review Submitted: September 7, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We stayed here as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children aged 12, 10 & 9) for 8 nights in July. The apartment couldn't be more ideally situated in the heart of the old town. EVERYTHING we wanted to do/see in Nice was within walking distance. The main bus station (Gare Routiere) is literally 2 mins walk, which was convenient for arrival from airport and for catching buses in any direction along the coast for day trips, costing only 1 euro. If it's modern/contemporary you're looking for, then this isn't for you. If it's old style with character that you prefer (the apartment appears on many postcards of Nice) then you shouldn't be disappointed.

The apartment itself was clean and well presented throughout. The living/dining area was bright and airy with a great view over the facing square (Rosetti). The three double bedrooms suited our needs perfectly and again were spacious and bright. One word of warning, due to it's location the apartment appears to be a main artery for tourists, shoppers and revellers exploring the old town or walking back to the new town. Whilst this gives a sense of being central, it can also be noisy and disruptive into the wee small hours (even during midweek), so beware those with easily disturbed small children or light sleepers! Also, the apartment may give trouble to those with mobility problems due to the staircases.

Gail (the owner) has put a lot of thought into hosting guests. The supply of towels (both beach and bathroom) saved on our luggage space & the provision of straw beach mats made our daily trips to the beach (5 mins walk) more comfortable! The guide compiled for guests gives an excellent summary of the many local shops & resturaunts including tips on local fayre and pricing etc, most of which are within a 10 min walking radius of the apartment. You can budget and decide upon your meal from the comfort of the apartment!

We also used this guide to help plan for trips to Ville Franche, Antibes and Eze. It gives bus numbers and descriptions of places worth visiting. Although we didn't have the need to make use of it, free telephone calls to most European destinations (land lines) is convenient for those needing to check on family or friends at home or just boast about their holiday!

Overall, we feel we left Nice with much more to do/see and would definately consider returning. This apartment is the ideal base for exploring this beautiful region of southern France and we would recommend it without hesitation!

Myself and 3 friends stayed in this apartment in July for a few days. The description is absolutely accurate, the apartment is right in the heart of the old town and even though there is some noise from the streets (which we liked) the windows are totally sound proof (only required to be closed during the night). The apartment had everything we needed and more, Gail met us at the bus stop and showed us a few sights and was extremely helpful - places to eat etc.

We found Nice beautiful and having an apartment in such a lively and convenient area made our stay perfect.

We recevied excellent instructions on how to find the apartment and on arrival were greeted at the bus stop by our landlady who escorted us to our accommodation. Given lots of helpful information and support if we needed it. The apartment was very clean & comfortable right in the centre of all the activity, restaurants and food shops with just a short walk to the beach. Found so much to do that we will have to go again sometime. We were 2 middle aged parents along with 2 adult daughters who enjoyed the holiday as much as us!
