Excellent Holiday

Ian and Jean Bowles are very gracious host. I was very leery about booking without a travel agent and the Bowles put me at ease. They went out of there way to help us have a wonderful girls holiday. The property was warm, cozy, very clean, well equipped and accurately described. The balcony would of been a nice place to sit, eat and drink but it was to windy when we were there. We did have fireworks one night and three different cruise ships in view. Who could ask for more? The apartment is located about 10 minutes (give or take with traffic) from downtown Edinburgh. Very easy to get into town. You just walk across the street to catch the No. 22 bus, and when your coming home, any bus that says Ocean Terminal will get you home. There is a convince store located across the street for beverages and snacks, huge grocery store just up the road from this store about a ten minute walk or you could jump on the bus for a two minute ride. Ocean terminal mall is just down the street and they also have a grocery store on the second floor. Also across the street is a little dive called Paradise Café. Don’t let the outside of the building fool you. They had excellent chicken Kabobs. Delicious. Leith walk; had a great variety of pubs and restaurants. The stores close up early in Scotland, around five, except on Thursdays, so I would suggest walking Leith walk and scout out pubs or restaurants for dinner & drinks later. Also, the stores do not open until around nine so no need to wake up early if your not going on tours. The coffee shop in the Ocean Terminal mall dose open at eight fifteen. The hop-on hop-off bus is also very close.
We spent almost two weeks here, and from this most excellent location, we were able to take great day tours from the Heart of Scotland. We would jump on bus 22, get off at the first stop on Princes street, and walk about two minutes to Bus Stand E on Waterloo place. (Princes Street and Waterloo place are the same street. Turn left when you get off the bus your looking at Waterloo Place and turn right, your on Prices Street) We also set up a Private tour day with this company. Everyone was so nice. We will definitely book with them again. The drivers/guides went out of there way. Bill & Andy were our favorite. They also tell great stories, and you can tell they love Scotland.
We certainly couldn’t have asked for anything more on this Holiday. It was great!
Owner's Response: Many thanks to Barbie, Jo and Lori for their review, which is really helpful to anyone thinking of staying with us because it stresses, above all, the convenience of the location, despite not being right in the city centre. Many previous guests have seen this as a definite advantage, because it is so much quieter. We are always really pleased that guests feel we have made a difference to the enjoyment of their holiday.
