A good base for exploring the area around Vejer.

Excellent location near the old town so great for evening strolls and early morning shopping. Very quiet new development.
The house was well appointed, clean, tidy and plenty of kitchen/dining stuff. Living area was comfortable with plenty of space for the 3 of us. Patio would have been pleasanter if it had had a few living plants as it was a bit stark in the height of summer (note next door spanish neighbours was luxuriant) and the parasol didn't work with the table so there was little shade.
Our arrival at midnight was a bit problematic as we couldn't get in! several phonecalls to steve in england finally sorted the problem but not a great start. It was not made clear before we went that we needed passes to the swimming pool and as they were not left out again phonecalls were needed to sort the problem (thank god for mobiles). A pity it wasn't open from early morning but we did make good use of it and it was a great size for swimming.

Owner's Response: Hi Eve,

Sorry about the patio plants, we weren’t quite ready for the ferocity of the Vejer summer so the plants suffered. You will be pleased to know we have now installed an automated watering system!!

Pool Passes have also now been tied to a block of wood so previous guests don’t leave with them (as happened in your case!!).

Glad you enjoyed your stay though and are we look forward to hearing from you again and thanks for taking the time to do a review

Cheers

Spanish Paradise

I, my wife, and our 18 year old daughter have just come back to Canada after spending 2 wonderful weeks in Vejer de la Frontera in Andalucia, Spain.
We decided to go self catering this vacation, and found a house we liked the description, photos and location of, in Vejer.
When we arrived, we were tired, after a long flight from Canada, via Germany, to Madrid and then on to Jerez.
Coming to a beautiful well cared for home, in a nice nighbourhood of a beautiful quiet town like Vejer was just what we wanted.
We found a fresh, well appointed, very clean and tidy house, with all the amenities for a delightful 2 week base camp for our vacation.
We used Vejer as a jumping off point for trips to nearby beaches in Canos de los mecas, Zahara de los Atunes, El Palmar etc. We also toured as far as Grazalema, Ronda, Sevilla and Tarifa. We even took a day trip to Tangier in Morocco.
Vejer was an excellent base camp and our house was outstanding a comfortable and relaxing place to see all of this from.
Vejer itself is a charming and very interesting little hill town, one of "Los Pueblos Blancos" or white hill towns, modelled after the Moorish style of Andalucia. There were interesting and exciting discoveries around every corner and some of the finest Spanis food and bars in every Calle.
We had a rented car from Jerez airport, and we were very pleased with how all our arrangements came together very well. We had a few very useful and informative long distance phone conversations with the owner of our house prior to our arrival and this helped set our local knowledge and expectations very well.
The house included all the necessary amenities for civilised living, and we availed of all of them including the Patio on the flat roof from where, over a glass or two of Rioja, we were able to enjoy the Spanish evening breezes. The view from the roof was very charming too.
The house is part of a small complex that includes access to a communal pool and we used this from time to time and got to know some of the neighbours, some of whom are expatriate British folks, and some of whom are local Spanish. The pool is very new and very modern with a small separate splash pool for toddlers. The ambiance was very family friendly.
If I had the opportunity, I would gladly return to Vejer (as there are more places we have not yet seen) and would be pleased to stay in this house again.
I would reccomend Spain, Andalucia, Vejer, and the La Noria house to anyone, unreservedly.

Our holiday in Vejer

Parkgate Chester, Cheshire, UK
Review Submitted: April 3, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2008
We stayed in Vejer during May. Vejer itself is a beautiful historic town with it's winding cobbled streets, Tapas bars and hidden away restaurants. Having two children we were completely put at ease by the child friendly welcoming attitude of the Restaurant and Bar owners who were generally more than happy to accommodate our heavily laden push chair and 5 year old son.
The area offers an outstanding selection of quality beach's the closest being El Palmer beach which is about 10 minute drive away.
La Noria, the area were the house is situated has a local Bakery and Grocery which came in handy a few times.
The house was great, well furnished to a high standard, comfortable with all the mod cons you would expect at home. Having children the washing machine was used several times. There was also no shortage of parking either directly in front of the house or in the dedicated parking area opposite.
We loved the roof terrace as somewhere to escape to which had views across to green hills beyond.
In the mornings we would usually breakfast on the front terrace which was laid out with plants and shrubs.
The pool was a big hit with the children, they loved it! It had great facilities toilets and changing area and was monitored by a lifeguard.
Its also worth mentioning that Steve the owner was exceptionally helpful with the whole booking, travelling, where to go and what to do questions we had.
All in all we loved our week in Vejer and will be booking again.

Vejer - the first time

Review Submitted: November 20, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We stayed here in early August 08. We flew to Gibraltar (but walk through customs and pick your car up in La Linea) from where its about an hours drive up the beautiful coast to Vejer. The town is situated on a hilltop with panoramic views. The old town has narrow cobbled streets and whitewashed buildings with a moorish influence. Strolling round here late at night is an entertainment in itself. Have a meal out or just buy an icecream and keep wandering! There are good beaches about 12km away, which are great for kids and some will be good for older "kids" who like a bit of board surfing! The property is situated in the newer part of town, is relatively new and has all the modern facilities you would expect. There is a large gravelled open space right outside the house (we kicked a football around most days), and we woke one day to the market setting up right outside our door. The city of Cadiz is well worth the journey for a day out and you can combine it with a trip to the big hypermarket on the way home. Whilst we knew the area we had not stayed in Vejer before and would thoroughly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Hi Graham,

Thanks for the review, I really should mention the market on the site... it's a great selling point!

Cheers and look forward to hearing from you again

We have been to Vejer many times in the past, this however was the first time in this lovely townhouse.
Anyone wanting to get away from the normal tourist route of Spain should try Vejer and the surrounding countryside.
We have already booked again for next year and we would not hesitate in recommending it to family and friends.

Hola - Vejer

What a great town house, new and well equipped with everything that you could possibly need. Felt like home from home.

Set in a valley with a field opposite but within easy walking distance (10-15 mins a little of which is uphill) to the heart and old town of Vejer, which is both beautiful and interesting. There is a market which sets up in the field directly opposite the house on Thursdays and a bakery just up the road that is open daily. The community pool is a great asset.

A short drive (10 - 15mins) away are some of the most beautiful beaches and for those seeking a more relaxed beach experience, you couldn't beat El Palmar.

The down-side was the noise at night from 'boy-racers' in the field opposite and noise from neighbours.

Apart from that, we had a wonderful holiday with the house being a good base to explore Vejer and the surrounding area.

Owner's Response: Hi Alan,

Glad to hear it felt like 'home from home' we have put a huge amount of effort (and money!) into trying to create exactly that feel.

Sorry to hear about the noise. The park opposite has now been fenced off to vehicles and has therefore solved that small inconvenience. Thankfully it didn't spoil your stay in Vejer.

Cheers

The townhouse was perfect. The only negative thing was the noise late at night in the parc and some other guess beside us. Sylvie, Sylvie and Sylvain from Montreal

Owner's Response: Hi Sylvie,

Sorry to hear that you had inconsiderate neighbours, highly unusual as most of the houses are owned by residents, but glad to hear it didn't spoil your stay.

For reference the area opposite (the park) has now been fenced off as a private area, since this has been done it has eliminated the occasional noise problem in the evenings.

Thanks for the review and hope you are looking forward to your holiday this year.

Cheers!
