Lovely Winter Break

Robert and Linda Yorkshire
Review Submitted: June 15, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2008
Leaving torrential rain and floods in the UK in January to arrive to warm sunshine in Madeira was wonderful.
The apartment was spacious and very well maintained and equipped. The kitchen had all the facilities you could possibly want, the bedrooms had plenty of storage space and comfortable beds and the TWO bathrooms, one with shower one with bath (and shower) were an added luxury not normally to be found in holiday accommodation.
The balcony was sheltered from the easterly winds and to sit there, on a sunny afternoon, looking out to sea (thinking of the cold and dark back home) was perfect.
The apartment building is in secure, gated grounds, but close to the main road and the bus stop.
Across the road is a very good supermarket but once you understand the ticket system and have bought a prepayment card from a newsagent/tobacconist, then it is so easy to get the bus in and out of Funchal; perhaps to eat out in the evening (plenty of bars and restaurants all through the year), to look round the city centre and the excellent market or to other destinations such as the Botanical Gardens.
There are many opportunities for walkers - nearby travel agents can arrange mini bus trips into the mountains or simply to walk down to the coastal promenade which extends in either direction by the sea is very enjoyable.
The owners were very helpful with any queries we had prior to booking.
Highly recommended.
Owner's Response: Dear Linda & Tim,

I have just read your amazing review! No wonder it took so long! Thank you so much for your kind words. You've made everything sound so wonderful - I want to go there myself. Thank you very, very, very much - you are so fantastic.

With gratitude and very best wishes,
Wyena & Andrew

A perfect holiday

Having read the reviews of previous guests, I can only reiterate their comments. The information sent to us by Wyena before we arrived and also supplied within in the apartment was very comprehensive and helpful. The apartment was perfect - everything we could possible need and the location was beautiful and very convenient. We had a supermarket, bakeries, wine shop, restaurants, information/excursion bureau and bus stop all within a few minutes walk. We found the buses exceptionally easy to use and we had some good trips out. I have no hesitation in recommending this apartment. We hope to return.

What a brilliant apartment.
The photo of the palm trees and the azure blue sea is exactly how it looks - beautiful.
The appartment is very spacious, clean and well equipped and if I won the lottery, this is exactly what I'd be looking for!
The 40 minute walk to central Funchal is very pleasant, but the bus and taxis are right outside the appartment block if you prefer.
We would have no hesitation recommending this appartment.
There is an abundance of restaurants within easy walking distance, a lovely coffee shop / bakery just over the road, and a shopping centre just beyond that.
Everyone speaks good english, which is great if like us, you don't speak a word of portugese!
We hired Wyena's taxi driver for a day for a very enjoyable tour of the western half of Madeira, who also picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, kindly arranged by
Wyena.
We will definately be coming back to this appartment in a couple of years to do the other half of the island, and re-enjoy what we did recently.

Quinta do Falesia.

We have just spent three weeks on this beautiful island. The apartment lived up to all our expectations - clean, well-maintained and equipped and pleasantly furnished. As soon as we booked, we received nine pages of information on the apartment and Madeira in general from the owner and she arranged for a taxi to meet us at the airport to transfer us to the apartment, where we were warmly welcomed by her cousin and a friend.
The location was ideal - overlooking lovely gardens to the sea and yet close to all amenities. Madeira has an excellent bus service and there was a stop right outside the gate. Buses run regularly into Funchal - a 10 minute ride. We usually walked - 40 minutes each way. It is a very pleasant walk, especially by the Lido.
There is a new shopping centre just across the road with a supermarket and two other supermarkets within easy walking distance.
We used a company directly opposite to book tours of the island and levada walks. They were very efficient, picking us up at and returning us to the gate. The guides were very interesting and well informed. We chose this way rather than taking a taxi as it gave us a chance to meet other visitors to the island.
We packed a lot into our three weeks - walks, tours, gardens, museums and generally enjoying the atmosphere.
It is a long way for us to come, so it may be a while before we return, but we would highly recommend a visit to Quinta do Falesia.

Quinta da Falesia

We so much enjoyed our stay at Quinta da Falesia, It was lovely to be met at the airport by David -who whisked us to the apartment in no time. There we found another friendly face,Marie, who showed us how everything worked. Also good to know she was on hand should we need any help.
By 7pm,just four hours after take-off from our home destination ,we were chilling-out on the balcony with a glass of wine watching the sun go down....Bliss!

We could not have hoped for better weather in early October, warm enough to swim in the secluded, well maintained pool every morning. Then later hop on a bus to Funchal,we particularly enjoyed the so called "Workers Market",full of gorgeous flowers, fruit and veg:Or just sitting on the promenade with a cool drink watching the world go by.The numerous restaurants were all good.
We found the local people very friendly and humorous and of course all speaking fluent English.
We really appreciated your eye to detail at the superbly equipped apartment, you thought of absolutely everything.
We have already recommended Quinta da Falesia to family and friends.
It is our hope to return again, perhaps next time for some winter sunshine.Quinta da Falesia cannot be faulted,it both lived up to and exceeded our expectations.
A big thank you to all involved in creating this special place.
Pamela.

If you are looking for beauty and luxury you have to stay here at this wonderful apartment, it had every thing you would want even plastic dishes to go off on a picnic.
Sip your morning tea while sat up in bed looking out at the sea and across to the islands in the distance that are nature reserves, they look different every day depending on the light, plenty at the apartment to make you feel you are at home tv, music center, washing machine, fans to keep you cool, eat on the terrace watch the world go by.
We even saw a whale from the terrace blow his water spout up,I know the owners could not guarantee this for every one but brilliant. The gardens are perfection and the whole area at the resort is kept so clean
The pool was very quite only my husband and I most days, and the resort is private and safe as is the whole island really, this is our second time to this beautiful island and for those looking for beauty and peace it can not be beaten.
It does not have nightclubs and noisy music, the local people are always pleasant
Local coffee bars and bakeries are brilliant. and the sea is wonderful.
We will defiantly recommend this apartment and will return ourselves.

The apartment was everything we had hoped for, clean very comfortable and well equipped with all mod cons, one of the best we have ever been in. Lovely sea views from the balcony which caught the afternoon sun. Ideally located with a bus stop and taxi rank just outside the main entrance and a shopping complex less than five minute walking time. Have already booked our next visit. .

Madeira Heaven

Review Submitted: May 21, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
The apartment lived up to every expectation that we had. It is beautifully appointed with plenty of space and equipment for 4 adults, the location is superb - a walk into Funchal via the promenade or the road or a bus from outside the gates - and opposite a supermarket for everything required to make the holiday special. The views from the balcony of the sea are wonderfully relaxing, a brilliant place to sit with a glass of local wine and watch the boats go by. The service provided by Wyena and her representatives was second to none helping us with a taxi from/to the airport and keeping the apartment very clean. There are more than enough restaurants and bars locally which we used, only taking advantage of the night life in Funchal for a birthday night out. We would recommend this apartment to our friends (we already have) and to anyone who wants a comfortable home while enjoying the delights of Madeira. We would also recommend hiring a car as there is so much to see on the rest of the island.

A very large & well equipped apartment well away from the busy hotel zone but with all the amenities you would need on the doorstep.
