Devon girls getaway

Review Submitted: June 24, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
A group of 11 girls have just returned from a long hen weekend away. Although we had a large group the apartment was very spacious and we never felt like we were on top of one another and with 4 bathrooms we never had a queue for the shower!! Bonus! We spent all 4 days chilling and sunbathing by the pool, having lilo and relay races and creating our own obstacles courses including the slide and spring board! We had so much fun that we didn’t want to do or go anywhere else. We made use of the BBQ area for lunches to escape the mid day sun for an hour or so. The first night we arrived we walked to the nearest Lebanese restaurant for a lovely meal, the second night we headed into the main square of Alhaurin de le Torre, beautiful little town and very cheap considering the exchange rate! The second night we stayed around the apartment by the BBQ terrace and had a Chinese/Thai (very yummy) takeaway and played lots of games. On the last night we went to a gorgeous traditional Spanish restaurant set in a stunning setting, a lovely way to end our short break away. Anneliese was lovely and very helpful, her hospitality made the whole trip a wonderful experience. Thank you Lisa and see you again soon from all the Devon girls!
Owner's Response: I am so glad you had a good time here, Amanda.

I think this review proves that there really is something for everyone here, whether it is space to yourself when you are part of a large group, or a good choice of restaurant types to keep everyone happy.

Back for a second stay!

We liked the villa so much 2 years ago that we came back with more of the family this summer. It was as good, or even better, than we remembered. Spotlessly clean and everything you could need. Large pool and shady garden.

A good centre for visiting Granada, Ronda, Malaga, Nerja, Gibraltar - and for just relaxing round the pool too!

Definitely coming back for a third time.

Cool Villa in a hot climate

Redkite Ickenham Middlesex England
Review Submitted: June 14, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My wife and I (60+) and our daughter and son-in-law stayed here during the first two weeks of June 2009. We found the villa comfortable, spacious and cool following Lisa's advice, and did not need to use the aircon once despite temperatures of 28-30C most days. The pool is great for both fun and exercise swimming (9m x 6m) and a consistent 1.6m depth, and remained at a constant 26.5C throughout. It is well-equipped and has satellite TV so we can keep up with events at home, and the shaded areas both as part of the villa and in the large BBQ area and around the pool are great for avoiding sunburn! At our age, the walk to the nearest restaurant was 13 minutes and to the centre of Alhaurin de la Torre about 23 minutes, so a car is essential for big shopping at the supermarkets Mercadona and Opencor (the latter open 7/7 from 8 am to 2 am!) as well as for excursions. Good eating and quaffing abounds in Alhaurin - for both carnivores and vegetarians (unusual in Spain in our experience) and the people are friendly and welcoming. Anneliese ("Lisa") could not have been more helpful with advice, arranging tickets by computer for the Alhambra in Granada, taxis, etc etc...Los Pinos, where the villa is based, is a quiet up-market development of villas built in the 1980s, with lovely, spacious mature gardens (Lisa is a devoted gardner!). With the owners living next door, help is always at hand if needed. We will be back next year, probably also with our son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren, although not all at once!

Owner's Response: This is a great review as it offers really useful, valid advice for future guests. It is so helpful to know how long it takes different guests to walk to the nearest bars, I know it is 900 metres and it takes me less than 10 minutes but that is personal and everyone walks at different speeds!

Just one note, however, please note that the pool actually gradually drops in depth from 1.6 metres to 2.3 metres in the deep end, hence making it safe for adults to make the most of the springboard and slide.

A grand day out

The Whitehaven Crew Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
Review Submitted: May 5, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The description does not do the villa justice really. It is very homey. It was very clean and they maintain the inside, the gardens and pool very well. The BBQ area works very nicely too. Lisa was very helpful sorting us out with holiday essentials such as WD40 oil and glues to fix the children's toys. Did not go to any local restaurents as we ate in the Villa every day. We just nipped to the local supermaket for fresh fruit, bread and sangria. The pool is great and can be secured so small chldren cannot get up to it. We were really sad to go.

We stayed in this villa during October half term and found it both comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The garden and pool were both attractive and well maintained although a spell of poor weather limited the use of the outdoor space. The location is very quiet and within walking distance of Alhaurin de la Torre. The town has several supermarkets, restaurants, tapas bars a modern sports complex and an attractive old centre. Within a few miles is a new shopping centre with bowling alley and cinema complex. Malaga is an easy drive away and a train to Malaga runs from the new shopping centre as parking in Malaga can be difficult. The coast and its many tourist developments are a short distance away and inland there are several interesting visits to be made. The owners, who live next door were informative and welcoming but unobtrusive.

Spacious villa set in outskirts of town. Clean pool.Closeo to shops, retaurants and all local ammenities. Really enjoyed the barbecue and really large outdoor dining table. Owners Mike and Anneliese live next door and do not bother you at all. They are always on hand if you need anything they are very nice helpful people.Lovely manicured gardens. I would reccommend this villa to anyone who wants to relax or get away from it all and anyone who wants to have a good time.

Lovely roomy family/friends group villa

Mariners Whitstable, Kent, UK
Review Submitted: December 2, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
The description is spot on. All nicely decorated, clean and attractive. Several different sitting areas inside and outside so it is possible to have your own quiet space sometimes.
We loved the large BBQ area.

Anneliese lives in an adjacent bungalow screened by hedges and fruit trees and is always helpful if required.

The prosperous local town, with an old centre, has a good range of shops, restaurants and bars (15 minutes walk).

You do need a car to get to Malaga, the coast, and inland
villages. Excellent centre for exploring, and golf. Will recommend to friends.

Superb Villa

Review Submitted: December 1, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
My family and I visited in October this year and had a fantastic holiday. The villa was spotless, spacious and very homely. Our children spent all their time in the pool, brilliant. Also it was ideally situated for various places we wanted to visit. Close to the airport which meant for a stress free trip to and from. Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Marbella were some of the places we visited and still had plenty time to spare to use the fantastic barbecue. All in all it was excellent cannot wait to go back. Lisa and Mike were very helpful and easily contacted. Would definately recommend. Thanks: Kenny, Caron, Ross and Erin.

Simply Perfect

Review Submitted: December 1, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Everything about our stay in Alhaurin de la Torre was perfect. The Villa was beautifully finished and had every facility you could possibly wish for, including a slide into the pool which adults can use! The rooms were all very comfortable and finished to a very high standard and the self catering facilities were first class. The owners really went out of their way to make sure we had a great time and dealt with our every request( Ask Mike about Scuba lessons in the pool and Lisa about where the best shops are ,the local ice cream is incredible). We will definitely be back and we couldn't recommend this villa highly enough, you won't be disappointed.
