Schotland november 2008

We, my family, 2 sisters and 1 brother in law , stayed in West Lodge from 7 till 15 november 2008. And we enjoyed every moment of it.
Lovely large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living with a fire, very cosy and a huge kitchen to prepare lovely diners, and we did!!! It was a joy cooking in such a kitchen. It is fully equiped with a dishwasser, fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, grill, a stove, a washing machine and dryer, etc.etc. A large garden and a terras with a BBC.
We walked a lot, sometimes in the rain, we didn’t care! And of course we did the mountain with the monument.
Also we drove to Poolewe and had a walk for 3 hours around loch Kernary and down to Ewe, the country’s shortest river.
It will be sure that we are coming back, because this country stold our hart and West Lodge is the place to stay.
We will recommend this property to family and friends. A relaxing holiday location with plenty to do nearby. Even shopping

West Lodge, Swordale

Lorna & Tony Edinburgh
Review Submitted: October 26, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
This lovely old house set in substantial gardens has lots of character, and it made a good base for our autumn holiday. It was big enough for our family of five plus two relatives from Australia, with a very large kitchen proving to be a safe haven from the kids' XBox (which they chose to take with them).
The lodge is only 5 minutes drive from the local shop in Evanton, 15 minutes drive from the local salmon river, and about the same from Inverness. Further afield, Edinburgh is only 3 hour's drive down the A9, and you can get right up to John O'Groats in about 90 minutes, if you can resist stopping at scenic Dornoch or Dunrobin on the way. Ullapool, Skye, Torridon and the Gareloch are all well in range too.
We found plenty of useful consumeables (firelighters, dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid, etc) available for us to use when we arrived which was great as it meant that we didn't have to stock up on all the usuals straight away (these were duly replenished during various shopping trips). We also appreciated the well stocked log store! Roland (the co-owner) had provided excellent communication right from our first enquiry, and as well as helping sort out the fishing permits etc, he ensured that everything was perfect for our stay.
The short (90 min) circular walk from the house up to Swordale Hill will take you to some hides that look out to different clearings where we saw red deer, but you needn't walk that far to see wildlife, as you can stay put and watch roe deer from the back kitchen window!
I will recommend this property to friends and workmates.
A relaxing holiday location with plenty to do nearby.

We are an Israeli family with 2 small children and we spent one week on this amazing property.
The house is fully equipped and designed with a very good taste, and very very clean.
The location is great both for star like trip to the various attractions of the highlands: ullapool, sky, loch ness, glen afric and the great glen, ballatar and balmoral castle all of which are in the rnage of 1.5 hour drive.
On the other hand the property itself is located in a beutiful place with a small river just below it, typical highland hills, and beautiful views of the cromatry firth (for those who like sea view), so a day or 2 of travelling around the house or even more can be really nice.
The house has a great yard (large and very well maintained) so even strolling in the house and garden itself is very nice, there is only one nearby neibor and even he is quit far away.
The house itself is very big and can easily accommodate 2 families, and is perfect for children. Unlike most shops in Scotland which are closed very early the local shop in Evanton was open until quit late (20:00(
If you want a nice quick local meal there is a nice fish and chips place in Fortrose which is a 20 minute drive, we had a takeaway and went to see dolphins and seals in the nearby peninsula.

The wedding of our dreams

Donna H-B Houston, Texas
Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The photos of the cottage do not do it justice! From the moment we drove up until the minute we closed the door the last time - every thing was perfection. The bedrooms are large and very comfortable, the kitchen was fabulous (we practically lived in the kitchen/dining room).

We were a family of 7 - 4 adults, 2 teenagers and a 5 year old. There was something for everyone! We hiked, cooked on the outside grill, sat on the patio and drank wine, had a fire in the fireplace and enjoyed every minute of it. To top everything off - we had our small wedding ceremony right on the property under one of the big trees.

Overall, our experience was fantastic and we would highly recommend this property to.

All the best, Donna.

Eve-Marie Clermont-Ferrand FRANCE
Review Submitted: August 24, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009

Our Highland Hideaway

Review Submitted: January 27, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
What a fantastic house. This was indeed a holiday to remember, for many reasons, but most notably for the fantastic house that we managed to find for ourselves. Set in a beautiful location, overlooking the the Firth and the Black Isle to the fromt, and Wyvis to the west. The drive from Inverness airport took 20 minutes, which fantastic views as we came over the top of the Black Isle,Once we steped inside, we were imediately new it was going to be a great week. The house is sumptious, very comfortably furnished and with plenty of room for 8.The fire just had to go on.. even in July! It was spotless, with everything you need, and the owners were always available to give good local advice.Fantastic kitchen, looking out to the garden, almost an acre, but feels like 20! Very private, but only 5 minutes from the village where there are all the facilities you need, and 20 minutes fron Inverness for the shop lovers. As soon as you walk out the door you are aware that you are in the countryside, peace and tranquility abounds, lots of places to walk, picnic, fish and watch amazing wildlife. We played golf on 4 quallity courses, all within 20 minutes drive, and theres a further 6 if you want to drive for 40 minutes. We have already booked for next year!!
