Ronda, despite being one of the fastest growing towns in Spain has managed to retain a huge amount of its historic charm, and as a result, has become the third most visited place in the whole of Andalucia. Things to do in Ronda, Spain

Ronda is actually best known for the dramatic gorges and rock escarpments which surround the town. The sheer El Tajo Gorge and the huge Puente Nuevo which straddles it are usually the very first place that people head towards when they arrive at their accommodation in Ronda, and when you first see it, you will know why. The views from the bridge over the Sierra de Ronda Mountains are simply breath-taking, but to stand on the Puente Nuevo you need a bit of a head for heights.

There have been artefacts found from throughout the centuries, some dating back as far as pre-historic times. Displays piecing together the history of Ronda can be found throughout the town, as it is filled with excellent museums including the Museum of the City, the Museum of Hunting and the Wine Museum of Ronda. The ruins of the huge Roman stone amphitheatre at Ronda la Vieja are well worth visiting from a Ronda villa as are the Arab baths in the Jewish quarter.

The vast swathes of land encompassed by the Sierra de la Nieves Nature Park are the ideal retreat for nature lovers. Protecting many of the native creatures and plants of the Ronda area, the park consists of some very rugged terrain, crossed by caverns, cliffs and gorges, which form home to mountain goats, wild cats and golden eagles to name just a few species.

The Feria Goyesca in the first weeks of September is a very eventful time to take a Ronda villa. The Feria Goyesca is a huge bullfighting spectacle which comes home to the birthplace of modern bullfighting, Ronda.

The journey from Malaga to your accommodation in Ronda may be slightly trickier, but there are plenty of car rental options from the airport or you can take a bus, train or coach into the centre of Ronda.
