Salema is a delightful place to relax. However, most people take Salema accommodation for use of one of the most charming beaches in Portugal, Salema beach. Shaded by steep cliffs, the beach is wide and sandy, and there is always a good spot to relax, sunbathe and swim as the crowds tend to gravitate to the more famous resorts east of Salema. Salema beach is picturesque and unhurried, and there is very little that can beat waking up in a Salema beachfront villa and having breakfast overlooking the ocean. Salema beach, Portugal does provide lifeguards and warning flags for bathers. There is a wonderfully secluded beach just 15 minutes from Salema accommodation too, the Praia do Castelejo, although there really is no reason to leave the vicinity of your Salema beachfront villa. Scuba diving is particularly popular from a beachfront villa in Salema, as there is the wreck of a French Man of War lying just 300m offshore, and there are regular dives over the wreck available.

The nearest large town to Salema accommodation is the tourist favourite, Lagos. Although there is always a huge amount going on in Lagos, ranging from bustling shopping trips to endless water sports, Lagos never seems to get overrun by tourists. Every activity, facility and service can be found in Lagos, and if you are looking for a good night out during your stay in a Salema beachfront property, the short distance to Lagos is well worth travelling.

Faro International Airport (FAO) is an hour from any of the Salema beachfront villas available. There are many transfer options from the airport too, with coach services costing around £12.
