Things to do in S’Algar, Spain

As the beaches around the village are relatively quiet, they are the ideal place to simply soak up the sun or relax with a reading book.
The island of Menorca is awash with summer activities for holiday makers and many of these are easily accessible from a S’Algar holiday home. This includes a variety of water sports including fishing, Scuba diving, wind-surfing and water skiing, as well as several land-based activities such as roller-blading and tennis.
The countryside around S’Algar is also well worth exploring, offering fantastic views over the Mahon harbour which are particularly photogenic around sunrise or sunset. Walking, cycling and horse riding all offer a great way to get out and appreciate these views at your own leisure.
Evening entertainment is also easy to find around S’Algar, with a small number of restaurants, bars and cafes in the village itself, and many others just a short drive away in Mahon or on the South coast.
Places to visit on holiday in S’Algar, Spain
Mahon, the capital of the island is only around a 10-minute drive from S’Algar and is a fantastic place to visit for the day. The town features many historical buildings including a clock tower which contains a gallery of famous Menorcans. Mahon also has a great variety of boutique shops and fantastic markets, where you can buy some unique souvenirs of your visit.
Ciutadella, on the Western side of Menorca, is around a half hour drive from S’Algar, and is another fine example of a Medieval town with Moorish and Turkish influences. The town offers a picturesque harbour with many fine cafes in which to taste local seafood delicacies and soak up the laid-back Menorca lifestyle.

S’Algar benefits from the fantastic Menorca climate, which sees average temperatures in the high twenties throughout the summer, while winter temperatures remain around 15C even in January. Summers are an especially great time to visit, with an average of 11 hours of sunshine each day, while the mild winter weather make S’Algar a perfect escape from the harsh British winter.
Flights to S’Algar, Spain
S’Algar is served by Menorca Airport (MAH) which is 12km from the village and receives flights operated by budget airlines including easyJet, Jet2 and bmibaby. Shuttle buses run from the airport to self-catering accommodation in S’Algar and the surrounding area, while car hire is also available.
